It was already well into the afternoon by the time the large house came into view. Built into the high cliffside, it seemed to be simply part of the natural environment there. The blending of nature and man was a sight for sore eyes. Koril felt his smile widen with the warmth that came with thoughts of his family, and he reached out to take Sol's hand excitedly. "We didn't move here until my sister and I were a bit older, after mama got her things in Oba straightened out. It's a good thing, too. I can't imagine having all seven of us living in that tiny old house! Flana and I woulda ended up sleeping in the shed or something! ...That mighta been fun, though." He sighed with a little chuckle as well. "Papa said they turned my room into a storage closet. He might have been kidding.. but I hope they managed to clean it out in time from whatever it became. I miss our bed back home, so it'd be nice to have one here."

Flana was quivering with excitement, already hurrying ahead to yip at the familiar home. Meanwhile, the other animals were content to walk along behind the pair and wander around curiously to reacquaint themselves with the old homestead.

Dexurn was leaning against one of the doorframes within the house, gazing fondly into one of the bedrooms. It had been a bit of work, but her had managed to clear out the stuff that had accumulated in Koril's old room over the years. It hadn't intentionally become a storage room, but when there was a space not being used for anything else, things just ended up there. At least it had given them the chance to do a little organizing and updating; refill the oil lamps, scrub the floor, put in a new bed, fix that broken shutter, and more.

His eye twitched when he looked at the bed. One that fit more than a single body. Koril was going to need it for this visit. Koril... and Sol. Dex could hardly believe that the excitable little rascal he had once known was now returning home with a boyfriend! When had the boy gotten old enough to be in a steady relationship? It was almost painful to think about. All of his babies were growing up... damn, he felt old. "Shadiya? I think it's about time I trade my shield for a walking stick. What do you think?"

Sol's antennae flicked as a soft smile spread across his face. He gave his lover's hand a squeeze, turning his head just enough to give Koril his full attention. Adjusting to Matori's warmer climate after having spent so long in Zena was proving annoying at best, difficult at it's worst, but at the very least it wasn't the dry heat of Oba. At least here there was a scented breeze to pull the hair from his neck and cool his dusky skin. He would have liked to have seen it, all the beauty that Koril so lavishly described, but honestly if he could then he might have missed all the excitement in his boyfriend's renditions.

"Should I take it as a good sign that your parents are letting me stay with you, or should I be worried?" Even though he said it with a teasing tone there was a bit of unease there. Did they want him close to monitor him or were they really that alright with things? This was the first time he was meeting 'the parents' so Sol was understandably nervous. It didn't matter how many times Koril comforted him it was still...unsettling.

"Hello yes, I am the blind alkidike hybrid your son pulled out of the frigid North. Don't mind me~"

"Well considering how active we can be I don't know about that one just yet." Teased Shadiya as she slipped next to Dexurn to study the older room. It had gone through a lot of changes over the years but it was nice knowing that it was ready for her oldest son and his beau. "It looks good." She murmured as she placed a quick kiss against Dexurn's cheek. The Oban woman glanced about once more before smirking playfully. "Maybe we should have gathered some rose petals or candles to leave about the room." She found herself teasing, her gaze gleaming as she took one final look about the room before backing away and towards the stairs that twisted downwards into the main foyer. It probably was for the best that she didn't tease her son and his lover too much. She truly didn't want to chase either of them away, especially not when it had been so long since she had actually seen her dear Koril.

Others perhaps would have been apprehensive about the news but Shadiya was more eager than anything to know that her son was finding his own path and happiness. She had broken away from the traditional expectations of her own family life after all and had no regrets when it came to their lively family. "They should be arriving soon. Are you prepared, Dex?" She questioned, casting one final look over her shoulder as she lingered in the hallway right before the stairway. Already the smells of freshly baked bread and other foods were drifting upwards from the dining room downstairs, courtesy of her oldest daughter's recent return from the local village. Others in the family would be coming and going throughout the next few days but for now it would just be Kyril joining them along with Koril and his guest.

Out of everything possible Kyril had never imagined that she would be returning to stay a few days in the manor because her twin brother had picked up a lover. The hybrid woman pursed her lips thoughtfully as she darted about the kitchen, her crystal hairpieces chiming as she started unpacking basket after basket of food. Not many in their family actually cooked and it was a blessing that the local village had a bakery and someone who would cook meals for them. Seared fish, roasted meat, an arrangement of seasoned vegetables, honeyed fruits, bread and rice all decorated the long table in the dining area. Sheer ivory curtains decorated with golden floral patterns swayed back and forth in the ocean breeze coming from the open windows. The breeze felt nice and while Kyril was tempted to break out the finer plates she had settled for the usual ones that they took out for most family dinners. Admittedly she did maybe sneak in a few of the golden candlesticks and some of the finer cutlery but still.

"Is this okay?" Kyril tapped a finger against her bottom lip before quickly shaking her head. Surely it would be fine! She wasn't nervous to meet her brother's guest not at all! At least the youngest were out and about with others tonight so she didn't have to worry about wrangling them. Tomorrow though they could all worry about that once they had gotten the chance to acquaint themselves with Sol. Speaking of which...Kyril took a deep breath, surveyed the room one final time and left a bottle of wine on the table before darting towards the main foyer. "I'm going to go ahead and wait for them outside!" She called upstairs before opening the double doors and slipping towards the front, the path threaded with stones and stone planters full of different flowers and plants taken from both Matori and Oba.

A nervous hand fixed her silk skirts before she spotted figures in the distance. "Koril!" Calling out with a small smile and a wave, Kyril took a few steps forward as she waited patiently for them to get closer.

Worried? "Probably both~" Koril said with a laugh, giving Sol's hand a reassuring squeeze in return with a glance up at his partner. "You can stop worrying once they meet you though! They'll love you almost as much as I do." Of course, he could relate to the nerve Sol felt on a different level. He still had to meet Sol's fathers, and that thought was quite intimidating! So, he just tried to be as reassuring and encouraging as he could be. He did not doubt that his family would welcome Sol with open arms.

Speaking of which! His face lit up when he heard his twin, his free arm rising to wave excitedly. "Kyril!" Of course, Flana was already brushing roughly against Kyril's legs in greeting. He gave Sol's hand a tug and picked up the pace just a little. "Looks like you'll be meeting my sister first." Once they were close enough, he let go of Sol's hand to rush forward and had to nudge Flana out of the way to pull Kyril into a tight hug. "Kyril.. I'm so happy you're here. This is Sol. Sol, this is Kyril! Are the others home?"

Dex smirked and snorted, shaking his head. "You've got me there," he said lightly. Even if the kids made him feel old on occasion, he could count on his wife to turn around and make him feel young again. His cheeks quickly flared with the following tease though, a shudder going through him. "They can have rose petals on their own time," he groused. His son was... yup, he felt old again.

"As prepared as I can be." He took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he followed after Shadiya. He was surprised by how nervous he felt about this meeting. It was just so important that it went well... He heard Kyril shout from outside followed by a familiar yipping of a zanteer, and his smile rose. Despite his nerves, he was always excited to see his children come home.

"Oh, good," Sol gave a sharp little laugh. Very reassuring. He was in the process of tugging Koril a little closer, fully prepared to say something else when a voice cut off his thoughts. Sol's antennae flicked up, his magic sense picking up a lone soul close by. He went along with Koril up to the point where they departed and in that moment he bent at the knee, tapping his leg a few times to encourage Flana to come close. He knew the zanteer would be excited, but honestly, having the sweet thing jumping up between this reunion might damper it.

Sol pulled his hair over his shoulder and placed a hand atop Flana, turning his head towards the two. Even if he couldn't see them the happy sounds and general atmosphere tugged a small smile to his face. "Pleasure to meet you, Kyril. Your brother's told me much."

A chuckle left Shadiya's lips and she could only shake her head lightly at her husband's reaction. As much as she adored the idea of keeping her children young forever (along with herself of course) she was much more excited to see where they went in life. It did obviously help that they still had younglings wandering around their manor so that she didn't feel quite so forgotten just yet. "I'm sure everything will be fine. I trust Koril." She expressed with a firm nod before her own smile rose at the sound of commotion outside.

"I suppose we should go ahead then." Shadiya's own heart rose when she spotted her oldest son and daughter hugging right outside of their own front doors. It seemed just like yesterday they had arrived at this isolated spot along the cliffs with just a hope and a dream for the house that had taken months to finish building. Now they stood within the huge stone manor and the pair of rambunctious younglings she had racing across the sands stood as young adults....time truly does fly. She thought, a second of sadness crossing her features before she quickly shoved away the thoughts, "My turn next!" The Oban called out as she waved for her husband to follow after her, all age forgotten as she raced down the steps eagerly like a youngling. Shadiya only gave the twins a moment more before she quickly darted in to wrap Koril in her arms. "Koril!" She squeezed him tightly and placed a kiss on his head before glancing towards his companion, "And Sol, correct? A pleasure to meet you finally!"

"Me too! Mom sent word to Oba and I had to race home." Teased Kyril lightly as she embraced her brother in turn. "I miss you, ya goob." She whispered playfully as she pulled back and flicked at his nose before glancing towards Sol. "Oh, our parents are here but the siblings are out and about...like usual. They should all be around within the next few days though for a true family meal." It truly was hard to get the whole family together anymore and then the younglings were often keeping the others busy even when she was home. They truly had some real rascals in this family it seemed. She just hoped Koril's companion was truly prepared to meet them all.

She barely managed to get the words out before her mother's voice rang out from the stairway and Kyril found herself taking a step back to allow the older Oban woman through. "Mama!" She hissed with a flush before turning towards Sol with a small smile. "Has he now? Hopefully nothing too horrid." Kyril teased lightly before taking a couple of steps towards Sol. "Though I can assure you we've only heard praises from him concerning you. It's nice to meet you, Sol. I hope your travels went well." Kyril studied the hybrid a moment more, her head tilting slightly to the side with interest, before her mother stepped next to her. "And this is our mother of course Who most definitely rushed down the steps and hopefully didn't kill our father in the process." She quipped lightly. "I prepared a dinner as well so I hope you're both hungry."

Koril laughed and shook his head. "I missed you, too, goofball." His eyes slipped back up toward the house, imagining his siblings all running around in there. At least they were old enough now that they wouldn't just be a flood coming out the door. "That'll be good. It might be a little overwhelming to be back and have everyone here." While that was a concern for Sol, he was absolutely talking about himself as well! Still, it would be good to see everyone eventually. The littles must be so big now! Kyril's hope caused a playful glint to rise in his eye. "Hey, of course I only told him the best about you. He wouldn'ta come if I'd stuck to the worst."

Another laugh rang out and he opened his arms wide to accept his mother's affections. "Mama!" He couldn't help giving her a little delighted spin with the hug. "Yeah, this is Sol. Isn't he handsome?" Chuckling lightly, he slipped back over to grab his boyfriend's hand. "Come on, there are steps that lead up to the front door. Kyril, the food smells really good! That must be why papa is lurking in the front door~"

Dex pursed his lips. "Well.. he's certainly not a little boy anymore," he murmured. Koril had always been quite trusting of others though, and he knew nothing of this Sol character outside of Koril's gushing praises. Though, if the young man was willing to come all this way to meet the family... Being a dad was complicated.

Seeing Shade's relaxed mannerisms was helpful, but he still chose to watch from the doorway where he could see everything. Kyril chattering cheerfully, Shade bouncing around like a youngling, Koril looking pleased as could be, Flanna trembling with excitement at the side of a tall hybrid... The boyfriend. "I am not lurking," he huffed, his bashful tone giving away his shy tendencies. "Just enjoying seeing everyone in one place again. Have you both had enough water on your trip? Should come in and have some."

While he may not have been able to see her it was impossible not to hear Koril's mother approaching. Her eagerness was as tangible as a physical object to Sol, and yet it only served to put his nerves on edge. His isolated lifestyle had meant he'd grown used to calm and he was swiftly learning that this family would truly test him.

His eyes may not have been following conversational trends and individual movements, but those antennae were. Every so often they would flicker one way or the other, picking up on as many hints as they could. It wasn't much, but it helped the healer to piece together the world around him. "...Dinner sounds good." He offered a small, awkward smile and when Koril took his hand it only grew softer. "He told me a few stories, but nothing too embarrassing." Meeting the family one by one was overwhelming enough, and the thought of a flood coming down those steps was daunting. Sol's own family was far from small, but from what Koril had told him his own family wasn't likely to stop expanding anytime soon...

With Koril's guidance Sol had started maneuvering towards the front steps when a comment caused his brow to furrow. "Lurking?" He murmured. It was in moments like these that Sol really wished he was able to see. If he had been he might have been given some warning as to Koril's father just looming there, in the darkness, and his cheeks wouldn't have darkened. "Ah, uh...I would enjoy some water."

A laugh of delight left her lips at the swinging hug and she gave Koril another squeeze before letting go so that she could reach out and quickly give Sol a hug in greeting as well. "He is!" Shadiya held nothing back when it came to meeting others and she grinned happily at her son. As long as Koril was happy and the other man treated him well then she would be happy for them both. If she heard anything otherwise then perhaps Sol would be in danger but it seemed that everything was going quite well. If anything Shadiya was sad that she hadn't met her son's companion until just now. It made her worry what else her children may be hiding from her or rather just excluding her from now that they were adults.

She did raise a thoughtful brow when she watched Sol being guided up the steps. I see. The dancer made certain to give them space before following them up into the hallway. "I believe Kyril set the table, correct?" Shadiya asked after waiting another beat. "I'm sure there will be plenty of water and the like waiting for us there. Koril you can go ahead and sit down with Sol." As she finished speaking she flashed Dexurn a small smile, her gaze encouraging as she slipped past the group to stand by her husband. "I hope you're hungry as well as thirsty. It smells good after all~"

"Of course not." Kyril teased her brother with a grin. "Else you'd have to deal with me later should I hear about it." Her gaze moved towards the antenna thoughtfully before she smiled at the encouragement. "Well I bought a little of everything from the village. I hope something appeals to you both. It's been so long that I've forgotten what Koril likes even." Any chance to playfully poke at her brother and she would gladly take it. Truly, it had been so long! Partly her own fault as well for going to Belrea for a time too but still.

Kyril passed the group and gave her father a light pat against the arm in support before darting towards the dining hall. "I believe everything is ready." She announced as she quickly pulled out chairs for her brother and Sol. The hybrid woman poured cold water from the iron pitcher into goblets for the boys and filled her own glass with freshly squeezed juice from the local village orchard's golden fruits. It was sweet and she enjoyed it along with the roasted pork that she started to shred for their platters. A light glaze was on it, both sweet and citrus like, and she enjoyed it with the roasted herbs and potatoes. There was also the baked fish with garlic and butter that she enjoyed as well. "It may look like a lot but I'm sure whatever left will be destroyed by the rest of the family later when they return." She admitted almost sheepishly as she studied the wide spread set out before them.

"Please feel free to help yourselves to whatever you would like."
