Jadarite rarely called things lucky or unlucky. She knew too much about how statistics and coincidences worked to be so sloppy with her language, but the events of the night were certainly shaping up to be exceptional. There were a few types of people that could be drained without raising any suspicion. Jada had been on her way to parse several seedy bars for any sloppy drunks who were, one, alone, and two, looked liable to collapse on the way home without any supernatural aid. Before she had even gotten inside the first building, an older man who smelled sharply of whisky had come stumbling over, muttering something half-comprehensible about how gorgeous she was. If she'd been out for fun, that kind of behavior would have had her edging away, and she couldn't hide a slight twitch of her lips, but at the moment, this was just what she needed. She struck up as much of a conversation as he could manage, leaning in close and looking interested despite his odor. It didn't take much for him to follow her into an alleyway a block away, and then she drained him until he was unconscious at her feet and her hands were pooling with energy. It was only fifteen minutes after powering up, and she had nearly a week's quota. The luck was not all good, though. She'd felt the powerful aura while she'd been keeping pace with the drunk, and now it was growing uncomfortably close.

Another night, another patrol. Puck was getting used to the routine now, and since he didn't work a conventional job, he had all the time in the world to structure his own day. Waking up at around 2pm, going to his favorite busking spot for a few hours, coming home and working on music, patrolling, hitting the local pub afterwards, come home and pass out. Routine and a schedule were things he'd been lacking before he'd taken off for his three-year London sabbatical -- he was also a bit younger and more callow before then too, he had to allow. Not any longer. He'd been tracking a Negaverse agent for about fifteen minutes, quietly and patiently from the rooftops, and now he finally spotted her, standing over what was likely a drunk passed out in the alley beneath him. Poor bloke, probably too pissed up to know that his "good time" was out to drain him. Puck couldn't make that better, but he could stop her from taking advantage of anyone else like that. Leaping down from the rooftop, Puck landed in the alley some distance behind her. "Hallo, love," he smirked. "Busy night tonight?"

She heard the sound of boots hitting alley dust just as she was preparing to leave her target, power down, and see if lying low for a few minutes would fix the problem of being tracked. Jadarite cursed, her eyes narrowing behind her glasses. Then she turned, to see who was after her. It was nobody she knew, which was no surprise. Dealing with Order was not in her job description, so she avoided it whenever possible. Her gaze moved from his boots to his shirt and then his face as she scoured his outfit for information, taking note of the greenery. As she eyed the leaves sticking out of his hair, she shook her head, clicking her tongue. "Whoever dressed you did not even bother with the basics of cleanliness," she said, voice clipped. Compared to the Negaverse's, the senshi's outfits were just impossible to take seriously. She glanced to the energy in her hands before sending it of to subspace, then briefly looked at the man at her feet. "And what if I did have a busy night?"

"Well, I'd have to put an end to your endeavours," Puck said, ignoring the remarks about his uniform. It was not like he had a choice in the matter anyway. "I'll have to put an end to your endeavours anyway, since I don't want you draining any more of the good people of this city." He approached her slowly and nonchalantly, cracking his knuckles as he prepared for a fight. Puck didn't recognize this particular agent; his GPS system didn't seem to register who she was. But she was a Nega, that much was clear. Probably a lieutenant. "So, why don't you leave this poor gent alone and clear off? And if you managed to relieve him of his starseed, kindly return it."

Jadarite took a moment to size up the situation. The man at her feet was not giving up any more energy. She'd drained him about as much as she could without risking his death, and consequentially, a lot more cleanup work for her to do. His starseed remained in his chest for the same reason. There was nothing for her to return. The senshi in front of her was stronger than her and was offering her a chance to leave. She should not risk tangling with him. The thing was, Jadarite really, really did not like being told what to do. She should not risk tangling with him for long, she amended. "Ah," she said, reaching out to try and catch an arm and drain him instead, "The thing is, I'm so close to reaching my quota."

"That's your proble- OI," Puck yelped as the Negaverse agent's fingertips brushed ever so lightly against his arm. He jumped out of reach and rubbed where she touched in case she left some Negaverse attack nanites or something equally evil on him. "Look, I gave you an out, Lieutenant Whateveryournameis," he snarled. "I don't want to have to fight you." But he did want to fight her. She seemed so cocky and self-assured for a Negaverse Lieutenant; he felt sure she'd go far in their organization. He wanted to wipe that smug right off her face. With extreme prejudice. Puck approached again, still keeping out of her range, hands clenched into fists. "Gimme your worst," he dared her.

He was jumpy for someone who made such bold threats, thought Jadarite as she kept an eye on the carefully calculated distance he kept between the two of them. He'd had a perfect ambush set up while she was distracted, too, and he'd taken that opportunity to make pointed requests rather than doing anything more. She was beginning to wonder if he was more bark than bite. No, she wouldn't stay long, but if her observations were true and he did not have the skills to back up his words, a Super's starseed would be a nice prize to bring back to her General. "It's Jadarite," she said, with a small nod. Then she lunged forwards, throwing a fist straight for his face. Her worst wasn't much when she was armed with a stapler, but she summoned that stapler at the last second to give herself some extra reach in case he tried to dodge again.

Puck was ready for the fist, but not so ready for the red stapler that suddenly appeared in Jadarite's hand. His arm shot up to block the blow; he was just able to move his head enough that the stapler glanced off his cheekbone and ear. "Owww," he complained, scowling as he rubbed his face. "That thing hurt." He was one of those men who had always been taught you don't hit a woman, and that training stuck with him -- much to his own detriment at times, as there was a fair number of women in the Negaverse, like Jadarite here. His hesitation had cost him the occasional victory when encountering such an agent or Corrupt senshi, usually preferring to back off and leave before he got too angry. It was foolish and dangerous behavior on his part, but he considered himself a gentleman. Not so much in this case. Kicking out a leg, he made to trip her as she flew past him. "Puck of the Woods," he responded, wheeling around to aim a blow of his own.

The smug grin on Jadarite's face tilted sideways slightly as her opponent scowled. She'd been right. It only took a glancing blow from a stapler to cut through all that bluffing. "You asked for it, Goodfellow," she said flatly, complete with a tiny shrug, but she only had so much time to gloat. Her momentum carried her right into his leg. It sent her stumbling. With effort, she regained her balance, but not in time to do much about dodging his attack. She did her best to twist away, but his fist still slammed into her shoulder, hard. Jadarite tried to keep from gasping. She half succeeded, but the result was a not very intimidating squeak. So he did know how to fight. She filed that tidbit away in the mental database, and reminded herself that she should leave. She threw the stapler at him, and rather than trying to follow that up with anything more, she tried to sidle around towards the edge of the alley.

"Oh, you know the Bard!" Puck grinned, watching Jadarite stagger and squeak under his punch. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks!" The thrown stapler bounced off the meat of his shoulder, but his adrenaline was running too high now and it barely registered on his radar. He thought about pursuing her, letting her get a real taste of White Moon power; he also thought about tossing his magical attack at her, keeping her pinned so he could quote more Shakespeare at her. But in the end, he decided to let her go. "Goodnight, goodnight! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say goodnight til it be morrow," he recited. "Or the next time we meet. WHEN SHALL WE TWO MEET AGAIN, in thunder, lightning, or in rain?"
