“Okay, now spin, Meeki!” Sekani twirled his little finger in a circle and to his delight the fluffy averin did a spin in front of him. His familiar was standing on his back paws, little wings fluffed out for balance and happy enough to perform so long as his person kept up with the treats. Sekani leaned forward to give Meeki a quick pet just between his eyes before offering up a tree nut. More often than not when he wasn’t spending time with his siblings Sekani was with Meeki, either exploring the world around him or training his best friend how to do little tasks. The pair may as well have been twins.
“Now for the finisher!” Sekani pushed off from the table and walked over to the wall. With a deep, dramatic breath the small boy crouched over and placed his hands on the floor. He kicked his legs up, wobbling only for a bit, until the soles of his feet touched the wall. When he kicked off he was fully standing on his hands and in a flourish Meeki joined him, copying the boy perfectly by performing a similar stunt atop his foot.

Most of the time, these days, Korin liked to busy herself with practicing her footwork and trying to spend time with mom to learn. But... there was only so long she could do those things before she got bored. She was having a bit of a tiff with her older brother, so ... that left the younger one to search out and bother. She heard him talking with his little friend in the other room, but when she went inside she was delighted to see him on his hands, with the little creature posing atop him valiantly. Korin laughed, clapping her hands at the daring stunt they were in the midst of, her eyes bright with amusement.
Now, she wondered if he could get down from his handstand without dropping like a sack to the ground, or crushing the averin by mistake! She stayed safely far away, not looking forward to getting caught by a wayward fought when he inevitably lost his balance. "How did you even train him to do that? What a clever little thing!"

Startled by the sudden bout of laughter, Sekani squealed and promptly fell forward. He smashed his face into the floor before his legs rolled over, depositing the poor boy square on his back. Meeki had far more luck than his master; the little averin gave a squawk and fluttered up, choosing to land neatly on the back of a nearby chair.
Sekani craned his head up just enough to see Korin before pushing himself up into a sitting position. He wanted to be irritated that she’d caused him to fall, but then again….Praise was always too good to pass up! With a big, dopey smile Sekani motioned for Meeki to come back and his little buddy came willingly. The averin landed on his master’s forearm, snuggling in close to the petite boys chest with little chirps. “Just time and treats. He likes to snack a lot.” Sekani poked Meeki on his pudgy little belly. “When papa gets home we’re going to show him all sorts of tricks.”

Aaand there it was! Korin skittered backwards to avoid any sort of fallout, then propped her hands on her knees, leaning forward as her brother righted himself. Her smile was bright in response to his own, and she slowly dropped into an easy crouch infront of him as he sat up, curling her arms around her knees. "And it'll be great! If Meeki can still move by then, that is." She pointed out, eyeing the happy little creature with a fond look. Then she reached out to dust off her baby brother's face, clicking her tongue a little.

Sekani held Meeki a little tighter, much to the averin's apparent amusement. If the little pest thought anything less about being squeezed against the child's chest he didn't show it; if anything it made a contented little squeak before rooting his head under Sekani's hand. "Why wouldn't he be able to move?" He fussed a little under the 'babying' but stayed still never the less. With five older siblings, two who were closer to him in age, Sekani had just gotten used to the attention. Most days he even loved it, but right now he was a little concerned.

"He'll be far too round to do it, after all those treats!" Korin concluded, her face turned mournful as she reached to pet the little creature. Still - that Sekani had something so fantastic planned for their dad's return left her feeling a bit off kilter, tummy swirling with guilt that she hadn't also planned something extravagent. "That or you'll both be too tired and sore from practicing!"

Sekani's little cheeks puffed up. "He's just cuter that way." His little averin may not have been as small as he'd been when Sekani originally adopted him, but his little extra pudge made him all the sweeter. It made cuddling up to him when sitting around his family in the evening all the more enjoyable.
"We practice everyday so even if we did take time off he'd still know what to do." Sekani smiled proudly and gave Meeki another treat. There wasn't a single day that the pair wasn't up to something, and that gave him all the confidence he needed.
"What are you doing today?"

Well, there was no arguing with that! Korin laughed heartily though at her brother's pouting, her laughter falling away into a doting smile - at least until he asked her what SHE was doing. It wasn't like she could just respond with 'oh, nothing, just talking to you little brother!', not when he was so hard at work! "Mama was showing me secret dance moves." She lied, lifting her chin a bit, falling instantly into a practiced little spin that, if she'd been wearing a skirt, would have definitely been GORGEOUS. But with her in her practice shorts, the wobble of her leg was a little obvious, and the spin a bit jerky as she failed to put the right amount of energy into it.

Sekani gaped. "Secret dance moves?!" His eyes brightened and he shuffled just a little bit closer to his big sister. Meeki gave a little indignant squawk and climbed up to his master's shoulder.
He sat back to watch and through his smile blurted out, "I bet if you kept practicing that would look really good." The little hybrid was, unfortunately, becoming an expert at backhanded compliments. Her moves had all the same forms as something their mother would have been able to do, but she looked like a dock worker after being at sea for too long!

Of course, they weren't REALLY secret moves - just moves she'd picked up from watching her mama. But... she'd thought she had a good handle on it, at least until her brother piped up. Immediately her cheeks flushed purple, and she puffed up indignantly, flashing an embarrassed glare. "I bet if you kept practicing you wouldn't fall on your butt! You can't show daddy that, if you just fall down!"
It was mean, but she felt justified - he was making fun of her!! Because, of course, kids couldn't fathom something being said without cruel intentions, right?

Sekani leaned back, the smile dropping from his face as fast as it had appeared. Why was she so mad?! "What's wrong? I'm just giving you advice like you did for me! Don't you want to get better?" So it was okay to tell him what he was doing wrong, but when he did the same with her then it wasn't?! It wasn't like he'd even said anything mean!
"At least we can make it work! If you fall down while you're dancing then you'll just cry and make dad feel bad."

That brat! Of course it wasn't okay, she was the big sister! Little brothers didn't NEED to give her advice! Korin wanted to stamp her foot and yell at him, or maybe pull his hair, but they were all on their best behavior so they could play with daddy when he came home - and if she got too loud someone might come to see what was going on. And they ALWAYS sided with him, because he was a baby!
"I'll get better! I don't need little babies telling me how to do it." She shot back, folding her arms over her chest. "If you keep being mean, no one will want to play with you but Meeki!"

Sekani was ready for it. He was physically tensing as if prepping for the 'battle' that was about to commence or the tongue lashing, at least, but it didn't mean he necessarily wanted it! Having sisters was hard! Brexxa hated them and Korin could be so nice one minute then vicious like a keldari in a snap!
"I'm not being mean, I was just trying to help! It's your fault you can't even spin without flopping all over the place like a trout! At least I know when I'm bad."
Meeki, clearly wanting nothing to do with any of this nonsense, kick off Sekani's shoulders onto the nearest table. The little averin took a moment to collect himself before making his way to his designated perch.

How... how could he say mean things like that! Korin's eyes brimmed with tears, which only made her more upset because he'd made fun of her for being a crybaby just a few moments before! Finally, maybe because the averin had moved and she didn't have to feel guilty about possibly hurting the little creature, she reached out and gave her brother a push - not enough to knock him over, but more than enough to make him stumble a few steps back. "You don't even know how to dance, so I don't care what you have to say! I bet if I showed Visha, he'd say it looked beautiful!"
Of course, Visha was a great big brother, and he understood pretty things.

Sekani took a few jarring steps back and squared his now angry honeyed eyes straight on Korin. It didn't matter if he he'd been trying to help or not now that she was getting physical! "I do too know how to dance!" He may not have been as graceful as mama, but she said he danced like a true gentleman so he knew it had to be good.
"If you showed Visha he would say it was good because he wouldn't want you to yell at him like you are me." She could have been covered at dirt and he would say she was as pretty as a flower!
