Adenah wasn't sure just how long she'd slept in and at the moment she really didn't care. The hybrid stretched her legs out on the bed and rolled over onto her side, nuzzling her face into the pillow for a moment while consciousness eluded her. She groaned when new aches presented themselves and with a sigh she finally opened one very tired eye. All she needed was a nice, warm soak and some healing salves to-

Her brows furrowed for a moment before Adenah pushed herself up into a sitting position. "The hell..." She grumbled, reaching a hand up to push hair away from her face. This wasn't her apartment....It's Dovian's forge. That's right! She'd come here after...after last night...Still barely half awake, the hybrid looked around the room with a slightly opened mouth and squinted eyes. Her hair was an absolute mess and the shirt she'd been gifted had ridden up under her breasts in the night. With a few murmured words she tugged it down so that when she pushed the covers back she wasn't completely bare.

"Is he still here?" She grumbled.

During the night Dovian had let Adenah sleep, only checking in every few hours to make sure she was still alright. By the time she woke up it was late morning and he was still working.

He was dripping sweat, covered in ash and soot yet again, and hammering away at a piece of steel. Of course there was a 'customer' in the shop as well. A regular who came in mostly just to harass Dovian.

"When will you be done today Dovian? Perhaps I could entertain you?" The woman too close for Dovi's liking but he couldn't be rude to a customer.

"I'm not sure when my work will be done, Netali. And no thank you, I have plans." Once he made sure Adenah was alright and he was finished with work he was going to go home and crash. Hard. He'd been up for over twenty four hours and was feeling the effects of exhaustion. "Please step back so you don't get burned." If the woman didn't move he was tempted to simply pick her up and move her himself. Lack of sleep had taken his patience and was making him feel some irritation.

Adenah tried her best to fix her hair, but it still came across as a tousled mess. At the very least it wasn't as knotty as before which was a blessing considering how she'd apparently passed out last night. She padded across the room to the little wash bowl and started to clean her face when she heard voices from the other room. Great, he's with a customer. How was that going to look if a strange woman came out of his back room in his shirt? Adenah pursed her lips with a little sigh. She'd just wait until they left before making herself known, but that didn't mean she couldn't come over to the door and listen in.

Or peep, as it were. It seemed like the door wasn't completely shut so she could see some little twit swooning all over....an exhausted Dovian. "You idiot," She whispered. Had he gotten any sleep? Rolling her eyes Adenah straightened some before opening the door with a notably loud yawn and and a sleepy grin. While one hand was helping her to lean against the door frame the other was sliding up her generously thick thigh, pushing her shirt up above the crystals that spanned her skin.

"Netali, leave the man alone. Can't you see he's busy? Besides, we've both had a late night and he has enough to catch up on as it is." She pushed off the door frame and strolled forward, rolling her hips with each step. "Get moving before I stick your weaselly little face in that fire."

Despite the warning from Dovian the woman placed a suggestive hand on his bicep. She could tell he was a bit different from usual and figured she might be able to convince him to join her after work. Netali opened her mouth to say something else but was cut off when she heard the voice of another woman.

Dovian had paused in his work to look at the hand that touched him, a muscle twitching in his jaw as he restrained himself from yelling at the woman. A deep breath in and he tried to calm his building temper. Thankfully, as he let the breath out, Adenah came to his rescue. His green eyes moved over to look at Ade as she came out of the room, though he did linger slightly on the exposed thigh and crystals as was intended. That was a mistake. Even he couldn't deny the woman was very appealing.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Netali didn't seem pleased with Ade's appearance.

Dovi tightened his jaw as he grit his teeth somewhat and raised his eyes to look Adenah in the face, forcing his brain to refocus. By that time she'd started to walk forward. Her threat to the 'customer' was amusing, however, and caused him to give a half smirk.

"Did we wake you?" As he spoke he set the hammer down so that he could reach over and grab Netali's hand to remove it from his arm. "You can sleep a bit longer if you want, or was there something you needed?" Was she hungry? He hadn't had much for her to eat before. If she wanted new clothes then he was going to need her help with that one, he didn't know her size at all. Turning to give Adenah his full attention he hoped that would be enough to let Netali know he was dismissing her. He disliked the idea of being rude but she was pushing buttons he didn't have the patience to deal with today.

Poor thing looked absolutely at his wit's end. Adenah wanted so much to coax him into sitting down with a nice, warm breakfast, but she needed to deal with this issue first. Hand on bicep; bold move for a blind dog. It was pleasing to see that he looked closer to snapping at her than being anywhere close to receptive, but the way his eyes lingered on Adenah....Well, it was appreciated.

"You did." She smiled, notably ignoring the 'customer' in favor of Dovian. "I was just coming to check on you when I heard the shrill cry of a perzi in heat; didn't expect to see one had crawled in, though. I thought you'd stopped feeding strays." Now that he'd removed the offending thing, Adenah stepped closer, but respectfully refrained from touching him. As much as she wanted to 'play the part' she also didn't want to overstep boundaries. Boundaries that Netali so clearly couldn't see.

"So are you here to commission him or are you just keen on wasting our time?" Adenah looked down her nose at Netali, making her shift from an open, happy smile for Dovian to an almost sneer at her horribly obvious. What did she have to hide? "I don't have to explain myself to you; even a child could figure it out by now."

"Hm, thought I adjusted my strength enough not to bother you." Dovian was clearly talking about how hard he was using the hammer. He thought he'd been considerate enough to soften the strikes and not make too much noise. As Ade compared the woman to a perzi in heat he pressed his lips together and looked to the side. "Huh? I wasn't aware I fed any strays." Not only did he not actually entertain the beasts that roamed the streets he also didn't typically show any interest in anyone when they flirted. So how he ended up in these situations was beyond him.

Netali glared hard at Adenah as she came closer and even gave a bit of a disgusted look. "Dovian, I wasn't aware you paid for company." She gave the venom right back to the woman. She stepped closer to the blacksmith, ignoring any boundaries that Ade was respectful of. "I believe he's working on my commission now. Offering your body won't put you at the front of the line so why don't you leave? Clearly your work is done."

Dovian tensed a bit, both at Netali's comment and her closeness, and reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose. He wasn't nearly rested enough to deal with this. "Netali." He said in a low, rough tone that left no room for argument. "Do not insult her again." She might not look it but Ade could be quite dangerous and he didn't want to clean up blood again so soon. He took that moment to step away from Netali, just one step, and give him some breathing room but it put him extremely close to Adenah instead. "And I can assure you, she wouldn't need to offer that to get to the front of the line." Seeing as Adenah worked for a certain guild then all she had to do was use that as a means to get her commission done first. Not that anyone else knew that.

Adenah gave a low, whistle. "Ooo, the little kitten has claws." She wasn't nearly so refined as to hold back, but Dovian's interference caused her to quiet down. A spat was the last thing he needed to deal with and short of running a blade through the tramps ribs Adenah was out of options. She may have been well rested, but mentally she was still rubbed raw. A few more words and she might be tempted to make good on her threats.

She turned a softer eye Dovian's way and moved a little to put a gentle hand on his arm. Just a brief contact, not enough to get into his space, but hopefully enough to offer comfort. "You really are too sweet." If Netali had just taken the hint then Adenah wouldn't have walked past him, reaching up to flick her hair with one hand, hopefully to draw the twit's attention upwards instead of for the hand reaching for the hammer...

The death stare that Netali gave Adenah couldn't be mistaken for anything else. She clearly did not like the hybrid. As a pure Oban she felt she was better than than Ade. Despite Dovian's mixed heritage he looked Oban for the most part and that was fine, besides his eyes were a striking feature.

Dovian looked at Adenah with a raised brow as she touched his arm. Since he considered her a friend and the touch hadn't been suggestive he didn't seem to mind it too much. Of course he wasn't distracted by the hair flip. Oh no! Dovian took a breath in and turned so that he was behind the curvy hybrid, one hand grabbing her by the waist and pulling her back into him while his other grabbed her hand before it could grab the hammer. His body covered most of her and he made sure to growl at her to show his disagreement. The action, to an outsider, looked very inappropriate and in hind sight Dovi figured he could have stopped her another way but he was too tried to think in complex tones right now. Putting his mouth close to Ade's ear and lowering his voice to a deep rumble he spoke just to her. "I will pick you up and carry you back to the room if you try to attack a customer. Even an annoying one." It was the only warning Ade was going to get and he made sure to hold her with just enough strength that she couldn't slip away from him.

Netali took all this in and turned red faced. She was beyond annoyed with the hybrid woman. Since it was her first time seeing her near Dovian she wasn't sure just how important she was but Netali had been trying for months to get the blacksmith's attention so this was unfair.

Just one quick hit to the side of her mouth should shut her up for a while. Adenah may have been wearing a lazy grin, but mentally she was shifting very quickly into a violent mindset. All she had to do was wrap her fingers around that hammer and-

"Omph!" Instinctively Adenah had almost reared her head back to slam into her 'attackers', but just as quickly as the thought had entered her head Dovian was growling in her ear. She'd only ever seen that side of him once, behind a vendor's stall and it was enough to give her pause. Of course the act of her raising her head could have been taken for a 'positive reaction' to his touch, when it all reality she'd only been moments from slamming her skull into his nose. As it was she was close enough to him that his sweaty chest was melding against her back.

"Is that a threat or promise?" She couldn't help it; the quip just slipped out. Adenah couldn't deny how hard her heart was thumping inside of her chest or the thrum of excitement that burned in her blood. Her voice was barely above a murmur, and she didn't dare look back at him.

For Netali's benefit, Adenah made eye contact with the other woman before she left and bit her lower lip, just enough to take advantage of the situation. Whether it was an act or not was up to her to decide. Once she was gone, however, Adenah leaned back and rolled her head against Dovian's collar bone just enough to look at him. "If you don't get your hands off me right now I'll remove them myself." Even though she spoke it in a low, husky voice the threat behind it was clear. The man was absolutely filthy and having him this close was already making her efforts to stay clean worthless.

"Both." He answered Ade in the same low tone.

Netali stomped her foot before she simply walked out. There wasn't more she could do other than to shriek and scratch the woman's eyes out, which she was sure Dovian wouldn't find at all attractive.

The blacksmith spared a glance toward Netali as she chose to leave, though it appeared to be more of a glare from his current position, almost as if she were intruding on a private moment and that served only to make her move faster. When the other woman was gone and he felt Adenah move her head he looked down at her but had to lean his head to the side a bit. Her threat was a very real one and he was aware of it. So he let go and stepped back as he rolled his eyes skyward. When he looked back at his friend he sighed. "Did you wake up and choose violence today?" He motioned to the hammer she had been about to pick up.

After that he ran his hand through his dreads since they were down. Dovian wasn't sure if she just wasn't a morning person or if she needed fed first. "How are you feeling?" He turned his attention to more pressing matters, making sure she was alright.

That really shouldn't have been as thrilling as it was.

Now that the adrenaline was starting to wear off she felt herself giving into a relieved sigh. Finally they could relax and just enjoy the morning. "Always. Honestly, I'd thought about pulling a 'you' move, but you've been through enough this morning without me making it worse." Looking between the hammer and Dovian caused Adenah to sheepishly brush hair hair away from her face. "...Sorry, I could have handled that better. I just really don't like pushy pure bloods who can't take a hint."

Looking down at her borrowed, sweat stained top and the exhausted, filthy man in front of her caused Adenah to sigh once more. "....I'm hungry." It wasn't everything she was feeling, but it was certainly the simplest to address. The rest would just sit in her mind, stewing with every other dark thought that took up space. Along with some newer, more exciting things that had slipped in. "And you need sleep. I can't believe you worked through the night; you look horrible." Adenah raised her hands and started to run them through her hair like a brush. "Do you have any other clothes that I can change into? If you do I'll go out and find some breakfast for us. You can clean up while I'm gone and after you eat you can get some sleep. I've been around a forge long enough to close up."

As she answered 'always' he rolled his eyes at her. Dovian could actually see her doing it though. "A 'me' move? Just what is that supposed to mean?" Dovian gave her a quizzical look. When she expressed her dislike of pushy pure blood he offered up a snort and moved so that he could grab the hammer and the steel he'd been working with. The steel, now cold, was set aside for later, and the hammer was put on the workbench. "Netali is a regular customer. She comes in about once a month to place orders for her family's business but she likes to stop in more often for a chat." And they all seemed to go just like the one from earlier where she flirted and got too close and interrupted his work. "She's not the only one either..."

With his tools put up for the time being he looked over at Adenah. "Hunger I can help.." Being told he needed sleep made him chuckle and grin at her. "Yeah, but there was a beautiful lady sleeping in my bed and I didn't want to leave you here alone." Besides, working through the night wasn't uncommon for him. He did it often when he wanted to get a commission done or he was behind due to interruptions. When asked if he had anything else for her to wear he looked her up and down then shook his head. "Afraid not. Give me your measurements and I can go buy you something to wear." And while he was out he could get her something to eat. "The only other option is for me to wrap you in the blanket, throw you over my shoulder, and carry you to my house. I have some clothes there." Dovian crossed his arms over his chest with a light grin.

Adenah rolled her eyes. "That makes twice you've grabbed me just to stop me from doing something." And every time it took her by surprise because she simply wasn't expecting it from him of all people. He never exuded that sort of energy until he snapped and then it was all consuming.

"There's more?" Adenah groaned. How many followers did this man have? "You really have got to start wearing more clothes when you work; if anymore of these women get a look at you you'll have to hire a bodyguard." How he got any work done with floozies hanging off his arm was beyond her. It was one thing to have an admirer or two, but to have them actually invade his work space....

"You should have just told me to move over. I would never deny a handsome gentleman." It wasn't as if he would have taken advantage of her and for that matter they could have slept back to back. It would have been a tight squeeze, between his muscular frame and her curves, but it would have been better than exhaustion.

She gave him a droll stare. "I doubt you could carry a feather right now without falling over let alone me." There really was no helping it, then. The only clothing she had was his shirt and as much as she'd rather be the one getting their breakfast their options were limited. "Fine, go on out, but don't worry over the details. I'll get things cleaned up here."

Moving around the space she found a bit of paper, presumably something he kept to write notes on or to take orders, and wrote out her measurements. Once she had everything down Adenah tore the page off and crossed the space once more to hand it to him. "Just let me know how much I owe you when you get back."

She had a point there. Dovian had grabbed her before. Showing a bit of embarrassment over it his face flushed some, giving his cheeks a deeper color. "Ah, sorry about that.." He had only wanted to prevent her from doing something dangerous.

His hand moved up to rub the side of his neck as she told him to wear more clothes when he worked. "Its a bit hot for that. I usually wear less when I know I won't be interrupted.." Dovi was shirtless, it was true, but he still had his pants, boots, and waist apron on. When he knew for certain he wouldn't be interrupted the apron came off and his pants were loosened so he wasn't overheated. "And my sisters are usually the ones to chase the admirers off." He looked at Adenah and chuckled a bit. The fact that she'd done something his siblings usually did was amusing to him.

When she told him he likely couldn't carry a feather he blinked and looked down at himself. He was tired, sure, but he wasn't weakened because of it. When Adenah came over to give him the note with her measurements on it he grinned. "Mhm." Without warning the blacksmith stepped closer to her, put both hands on her waist and lifted with almost no effort behind it and picked her up. For a second he stood there with her like that, his head tilted back with a self satisfied smirk, then he moved over to the workbench and sat her down on it. He leaned closer, his face getting close to her neck as he looked over her shoulder, one hand leaving her waist so he could grab the pouch of coins he kept there. "You must weigh less than a feather then."

With his coins in hand he pulled away, his other hand leaving her waist to take the note from her. "I'll be back in a bit, try not to attack any customer if they come in." And with that he step away to head out the door.

"You're just asking for burns." Goddess above, less? As tempting as it was for her to ask what exactly less meant she was also concerned about the state of his skin. She'd seen her Aunt's get their fair share of burns on more obvious places like arms and hands just from being exposed, let alone the rest of their body... "I'm going to have to get in touch with them and come up with a schedule. They have to be overwhelmed," she quipped. Maybe if they came in on a regular shift the three of them could protect him from the harpies of Oba. Adenah could think of worse things to do in her free time.

To say she was surprised when he deadlifted her was an understatement. Adenah's self-assured posturing fell away with a little squeal and her hands immediately went to his shoulders to brace herself. "What are you doing?! You're going to hurt yourself!" What kind of idiot was he?! Her entire skin flushed a darker shade of dusky grey in an instant and Adenah looked as panicked as any innocent who was having their hand held for the first time.

Even once she was sat down Adenah was in a state of shock. How could he....?! He didn't even strain. Goddess above....For the whole moment he was close she didn't even dare breath and it was only when his final hand left her side that Adenah felt 'cool' enough to try.

That was....Once he was out the door she heaved a sigh. "What the hell...." She ran a hand through her hair and sat there for a while just taking it all in. When she was finally in control of her senses Adenah hopped off the work bench and started cleaning up. At first she was mostly bumbling around, her mind too wrapped up in the morning activities to focus, but soon enough the familiar routine came back to her.
