It was rare for Lysithea to power up when she was on an evening walk, keeping personal life away from senshi life was easier than letting the two bleed...well. Bleed any more than they had already.

Sometimes though...she got lazy, and it was always faster to head at least part of the way home as Lysithea rather than as Cambria...and...of course, most of the time when she did such a thing...she found trouble.

Because...why wouldn’t she.

At least it seemed like it would be something simple, not an officer, just a youma. She could dust it and get home and that would be that. Easy peasy.

With a soft, resigned sigh, the senshi leapt off of the roof she had been running on and landed gracefully enough, looking around for the source of the aura that she felt. Finally, she turned a corner and saw it. Saw…

Oh.

Well.

“...Airi?”

If it wasn’t him, there was surely a clone of the youma running around the city...and that brought up a whole new slew of issues.

The youma's ears twitched as he wandered the city streets. It was getting nice out yes, but the nights were still chilly. That meant there were fewer people roaming around the streets, which in turn meant he was free to wander.

Well, as free as he actually was...

At this point he didn't care about strange looks. If anyone decided a double take was necessary, Airi simply crawled into the shadows and disappeared. Things would be easier, with his 'collar' he supposed, but well.. He'd lost track of where it was. Probably in the hovel he called a 'home' back in the rift. Airi huffed. It didn't matter. He had stopped caring a long time ago.

The power source hit him as he rounded a corner. Too little, too late. Airi's ears flattened against his head as his head hung low. He supposed, he should be grateful. He could have come across the path of a few people he wasn't quite ready to deal with yet. She was definitely better than that option. It must of been quite a sight for her. A youma of his size with ears flattened and head lowered. His tail was even tucked between his legs like he was some scared animal. But he was far from that.

"....Lysithea..."

For a long moment, Lysithea could only stand there and stare at the youma, her heart beginning to pound. She hadn’t seen him in...in literal years, and now he was here...and he was still a youma.

That fact hurt a little. He deserved so much more.

She swallowed hard and took a step towards the large creature, and then another, finally breaking into a run to close the gap between them, burying her fingers in Airi’s thick fur and carefully resting her forehead against his muzzle, careful that they didn’t end up gouging out any eyes, either with her tiara, or his horn.

“I was so worried about you! Where have you been?” Her tone wasn’t quite...anger, though there was a trace...but. She hadn’t really been around so much either...if he had been looking, this could easily be her fault as well.

“I’ve thought about you a lot, you know. Dummy.”

Lysithea did nothing but stare at him. Which was, in a way okay because all he could do was stare back at her. Though when she took a step towards him, Airi actually flinched. A noise similar to a puppy's whine escaped him as she took another step. Though the noise turned into a loud and equally as pitiful yelp when she threw herself at him. His first instinct was to fight and yank himself free, but that was quickly over written with caution not to hurt her.

"S-spikes! Watch the spikes!" He whined. "You're going to hurt yourself!" Not to mention the blight... Not that he was going to tell her about the blight...

He flinched again when she spoke. He knew that tone. Though it wasn't a tone he'd ever expect from her. Anger, Pain.. Betrayal in a sense. He was her friend. And he had disappeared. Airi didn't blame her for how she felt.

"Around..." He muttered softly. He'd been here and there with no real place to go. So he just wandered.

"Why?"

“What do you mean why? You shouldn’t have to be around, goofball.” She scoffed and nuzzled closer to him, not worried about the horn anymore. She was fine. “...You’re supposed to have been home with us long ago. God, I can’t believe you just went and disappeared. There’s so much that’s happened! We just got a bunch of new friends too, so that’s been fun...it…”

Lysithea drew away and raised a gloved hand to stroke behind his ear. “...I’m really glad that I found you again. Don’t be gone for so long this time. We...we can still help you, you know. If you want it. We can save you.”

Her big, giant adorable puppy. Of course he would have a place with them. Everyone did.

“If you want it, that is.” And if he didn’t...well...she’d figure something else out. A way that they could...something. This wasn’t a problem that couldn’t be solved.

His ears drooped even farther, if that were even possible.

Home

He didn't have a home. Not in the true sense of the word.

Fangite and Natron were both gone. Bonds both long since broken, and both long since purified. He doubted either had tried to look for him.. Not that he probably would have listened to them had they found him... And Evan... Evan had proven what felt like ages ago, that he didn't need him. Airi had began to wonder if Evan really even needed him.. Or if Airi had just self inserted himself.

The youma turned his head into her touch, rubbing into her hand. "...My friends are gone..." He said softly. "Fangite and Natron both purified..." No doubt with Kerberos. Airi was happy for them, really. Even if he didn't outwardly show it. "...I don't know who they are at this point... I don't... I don't know where they are.." Though in hindsight, he probably wasn't SUPPOSE to know that.

What was he suppose to do then? Wait around till he was bonded, for a third time to an Agent? No thanks. He didn't need to experience that kind of ache again. Of course he was going to disappear. He wasn't going to just stay put. If he kept on the move, he kept out of sight.

"You keep saying that... You've always said that." Her and Evan both... For as long as he could remember. "I... I don't know what to do anymore Lysithea. I don't know what I should do. Where I belong is another story entirely.." The youma sighed. He'd slouch against her, if he wasn't sure he'd crush her. "I'm scared Lys."

Lysithea combed her fingers through his fur and sighed softly. “If you’re scared, then it’s time to take the plunge. My friends and I can help you. You can make a home with us. If you don’t have friends on your side of things, if you’re alone...there’s nothing stopping you from coming with us. The worst that can happen is that...that you’re alone with people who want to get to know you and protect you…”

And honestly...that didn’t sound so bad anyway. “We’ve done this before, you know. I know you know. I’ve told you. We can help you. Find the place where you belong. You can start a whole new life, Airi.”

With a sigh she pressed a kiss to his nose. “Start a whole new life with us. I can take you up to my homeworld! We can have picnics. It’s a tradition, you know. Picnics up on Lysithea.” She grinned. “I’d love to be able to share it with you.”

Airi huffed lightly before shifting himself just enough to drop his head in the girls lap. "No offense to you, but I don't know your friends. Why would they want to help a youma. Even if I was a human before?" His ears twitched in mild agitation. "Or, here's a thought. Worst case scenario is I could die. Permanently. No coming back from that s**t. Considering I've had to do that before, I kinda like living." He grumbled, glaring up at her with no real heat behind it.

"Evan doesn't count. We knew he was human before. He remembered that kinda stuff. I don't. All we've got to go on is that I don't act like I'm suppose to." He was a defective youma. It was a wonder why he had never been dusted for good.

When she kissed his nose, he made a noise, resisting the urge to scratch at the spot. "What, can you not take giant monsters to your homeworld?" He taunted lightly, but again there was no real bark to his bite.

"I don't know how to be a human Lys..." He'd be just as alone there, as he was here.

“Because helping is just...what we do. Most of my friends...have been touched by chaos in one way or another. Most have purified. You won’t die, Airi...but...can you really count this as living anyway? You literally just said that your friends are gone. That they purified. There’s nothing holding you back from trying it. I won’t let you die, Airi.”

Her voice was firm and she snorted softly at the sound he made, finding it far too cute to be coming from such a large,,,frightening looking beast.

“Evan was a human before, yeah, and you know for a fact that he’s my friend. He’s always trying to help youma. It’s adorable. I know he’d be thrilled to know you finally wanted to be helped too. And...I mean, I guess I could take you to my homeworld...I…”

Lysithea shrugged, looking thoughtful. “...I’ve never tried to take a youma before. But. If you wanted to go, we could arrange it. Honestly, it might be easier to do the purification up there, if we’re going to be honest…”

...She could handle bringing that many people up, maybe.

Most likely.

"You don't know that..." How could she know that, how. Maybe Airi wanted to believe her. Lysithea had given Airi no reason not to trust her.

"He's your only friend I know..." Airi made a face, sitting up some. "Why is he helping youma? Isn't he scared of them??" Evan had always been so skittish, even around him. Well now... That was definitely something... He lowered his head back down, considering her words. His ears seemed to perk up, just a bit.

"I've never been to a home world before..." He tilted his head curiously, looking up at her. "Why would it be easier??" Did it have something to do with channeling magic?

"I... could consider it... If Evan were there..." But would Evan even want to see him, after everything.

“He’s the only friend of mine that you know now. But seriously. The group is super big, and we’re a family. It’s great. And I know you won’t die, because I wouldn’t let you. I’d trade my own life for yours if it came to that. I want you to be free of...of all of this.”

Lysithea shrugged and pressed another kiss to his nose, looking thoughtful. “It would be easier because we wouldn’t have to worry about anyone crashing the party. Anyone trying to stop us from saving you. Anyone...attacking us. Nobody could get up to Lysithea unless I invite them, so...it’s safer.” She was quiet for a moment, stifling a yawn.

“It’s pretty up there too. The grass is a really nice lavender color and it just...feels...like home. Which...I guess isn’t surprising. And, I can make sure Evan comes along. If you want, I can see about setting up a meeting with the two of you? If it would make you happy? He might like seeing you again. We haven’t talked about you in a while but...you weren’t around…”

Honestly, she had figured something bad had happened. Because...well. What else could she think?

[Mistress Morbid]

"You trading your life for mine defeats your whole concept of we should be on the same side..." Airi said flatly.

While he could not return the gesture, when she gave him another kiss the youma's tail thumped against the ground. "That's... You have a point." He muttered. The yawn did not go unnoticed. "...Is that even possible?" If not... There were work arounds... Lys could get a cat.. and he could try finding that collar of his. It would hide him for as long as he had it on.

"I'm sorry. Hold up. Did you just say your grass was what?" Airi threw her a curious look. "I know humans say dogs are color blind but even I know that's not right....

Airi's ears perked up at the mention of seeing Evan. He did want to see him again. He missed the boy terribly. "It would.... But... I don't know if he wants to see me." Airi had flaked out on both of them. He sighed, turning his massive head and rubbing it against her. "You thought I was gone for good..."

“Still. It lets you know that I”m committed to helping you.” She shook her head and gave a little laugh. “Yeah, the grass is purple...it’s really nice. And anything is possible, Airi. We just have to figure out how to do things, that’s all.” Lysithea began to scratch behind his ears and wore a soft smile. “I’ll make sure he’ll come see you. Don’t worry. Ah...I mean…”

The senshi fell quiet and shrugged after a moment. “...You were gone for a really long time...of course we thought you were gone for good...I mean...it’s been what? Almost...almost five years or something?” Lysithea wasn’t sure of the actual time but…

It felt like it had been halfway to forever since the last time she saw the Youma.

“I’ll talk to Evan about setting up a meeting...when’s a good time for you? And a good place?”

[Mistress Morbid]

"Still nothing. If you are dead, what's the point?" Ahri grumped. "Yes, you've saved me. But all you accomplish in the end is hurting me because you're not there too. Not to mention what that will do to Evan." The youma sat up, shrugging off the hand. "If it results in a death, I'd sooner stay. I've caused enough pain. I'm not about to be the source of that." Even if most people already saw youma as such.

Airi's ears flattened once more as he listened to Lys. Who was he to chide Lys on hurting Evan when he had done exactly that to both of them. Dropping off the face of the planet, with little word. Evan fewer way for either of them to find him? Airi sighed. There was no way he could truly make it up to them. Not like this though. "I'm... sorry, for any grief I've caused you." He stood then, giving a full body shake. After another moment his form elongated, taking on a more humanoid shape. "Ow...." He said after a moment. It had been quite a while since he'd done that.

Anyway...

"I don't... know how to make it up to either of you, or where to start but uh... Would a hug work as a good start?" He said, holding out his arms. Boy, this was probably one of the most awkward things he'd ever had to do. "Uh... As far as a good time... Any time works?" They could go now, for all he cared. "I suppose, whenever and where ever works for you?"

Lysithea laughed softly. “All right, all right! Then I promise this won’t end with me being dead. Does that ease your sweet puppy heart?” Her laughter continued and she hesitated letting it fade away when he apologized, and just as she was about to tell him that things were okay, that he didn’t need to worry but…

The senshi yelped softly instead, eyes widening as he…shifted. “...Oh...what the hell Airi! You could have hugged me this whole damn time?” She didn’t hesitate, moving to hug him tightly, fiercely. “...Dummy. I’ll talk to him. We’ll get this rolling and bring you home, okay? You don’t have to worry. We’ve got you.”

If he didn’t remember being human...that...that was okay. They could work with that. Between their court and Cosmos...honestly...they could do just about anything.

"Will you be able to stay out of trouble for a few days? So I can talk to him and get everything set up? Stay in this area, maybe...Or...or the park, near the south branch library? He's over there quite often..."
