Mason sighed as he followed his sister into the coffee shop. Why he had decided to follow his sister around on errands, he wasn’t sure but here he was, in some silly shop waiting for his sister to get whatever strange drink she was getting. He stifled a yawn, waiting a short distance away. The coffee shop was surprisingly empty for the time of day. He had figured more people would be in there, but he was sure it would pick up soon.

Another yawn was met with Jaysen reappearing at his side and gesturing towards one of the vacant tables outside. He followed without a word, pulling his hoodie a little more securely around him. “What are we supposed to do again?” He asked, dropping his chin into his hand and idly watching as people shuffled by.

His sister shrugged lazily, shooting off a text to some unknown source before sicking her phone in her pocket. Fantastic… So there was no real game plan… The only reason he’d agreed to this in the first place was that he really had nothing better to do. Work was slow and he didn’t have much to fix up around the house. Staying home was pointless. Jaysen kept breaking her way in, no matter how many times he changed the locks.

Alexandre was on a break, thankfully, and had little to do. The boutique mostly ran on it’s own and since Rose had moved back he wasn’t needed as much. It meant he had time to take classes online, which he was doing, because there wasn’t much to do with an art degree unless he wanted to work in a museum and that was boring and uninteresting.

Espresso right now sounded like a good idea - a really good idea. It was raining, lightly, and chilly so a hot drink sounded good to the ashen blond. Pushing open the door, glad to find so few people inside, he was able to lower the hood of his raincoat as he headed for the counter to place his order. As he headed that way his gaze landed on a certain someone...someone he hadn’t seen as a civilian in a while. They’d seen each other recently whilst powered up though.

“Jaysen…”

They both looked up at the sound of her name. A young man stood before them. Blonde, blue eyes.. Mason threw a curious look at his sister, but she seemed to pay him no mind, attention on the other guy. “Alexandre…” She said slowly, almost as if she were surprised to see him in a coffee shop. “So you really do drink something other than tea…” She sounded as if this came as a surprise. Mason just rolled his eyes, head still propped up but said nothing.

“Ah… Alex… You should remember my brother, Mason.” At this, Mason picked his head up, confused. “This is the one from the other night.” She supplied. “Now you’ve met both.. Sort of.” Again she shrugged. Her name was called a second time, this time from the counter. She slid from her spot, offering it to her friend disappearing without so much as another word.

“I don’t drink tea actually. I just grow tea plants.” This was said with a shake of his head, before his attention was grabbed by the barista. His order was a bit odd...espresso with pomegranate and cherry syrup and some whip cream. Something which sounded fancy but also sweet. Dressed in warm clothing, a scarf covering his neck and nearing his chin, he looked all bundled up and warm.

Watching Jaysen get up, to collect her drink, he went to take the seat she’d vacated. “I assume you’re the brother of hers I met a few evenings back. It’s a pleasure.”

"The one she apparently hasn't tried to kill.." He muttered. "Yet." He nodded slightly in greeting. "That would indeed be me. I apologize if I did not live up to any expectations..."

Mason eyed the smaller man all bundled up. "...Not a fan of this weather I take it?" He said a bit awkwardly. Small talk had never been his forte. Neither was socializing if he were completely honest. This was the first time, in a long time he had spent any time with someone out side a blood relation in a while... And he barely knew the guy.

"So.. Uh... How do you know my sister.. Exactly?" Stupid question. Mason knew that... The more complicated answer to that. "Er.. I guess I mean how did you meet ********. He was horrid at this.

“No, I haven’t much natural insulation.” He stated with a bit of a shrug. He wasn’t that large and he certainly didn’t have much for body fat either. He had very little way of keeping himself warm...the issue with being small like he was. There wasn’t much there for warmth.

“I don’t think she’ll try and kill me. I might be that impressive to look at but she doesn’t seem to mind my company.” At least she enjoyed it enough to keep him alive...though some of that might just be due to his ability to defend himself. He’d seen and done more than enough to prove himself a strong opponent to any who wanted to harm him.

“How we met?” Pondering over the question he tipped his head a bit before answering, while brushing his bangs from his face. “We had met through….my personal youma - Bazzite. He’s since left my company and left the Negaverse….but he apparently met your sister and mentioned me to her.” And it went from there. It was so long ago he couldn’t remember it all even.

"Shame... Rather like the cold." To a point anyway. If it got too cold in the winter, old wounds gave him issues... There was something almost... clensing about the cold though. Mason couldnt quite put his finger on it.

"If she hasn't tried by now, you're probably in the clear." He could see why she would turn her wrath on their brother.. Ever the favorite. Could do no wrong.

"No.. She doesn't take well to people. Those she deems close enough to be friends are far and few between. You seem to be the only one now. There had been another, but she hasn't spoken of him an a long time." She seemed more reclusive now. Well, more so then her standards went.

"Wait.. You mean one of those things? You guys can just... controll them?" A cup was suddenly shoved in his face, and Mason jerked back with a scowl. "Yes. To a point." She said, before Alex could elaborate further. "Stay away from them. Trust me, you're better off not getting involved with one... or more." Jaysen pulled out her phone again before tossing a glance at Alex. "I need to go. Please don't poison this one. I rather like him..." She muttered, walking off before either could comment.

Mason stared at the cup. He hadn't ordered anything....

“I can’t handle the cold very well.” Hence how bundled up he was, and always was during the fall and winter. You could say he had a whole section of his closet dedicated to sweaters and coats just for those seasons.”I like watching the snow though...it’s picturesque. I just don’t fare so well in it.” But he was more than happy to watch the snow fall whilst inside, nice and warm. He had no problem with it provided he was warm.

“I’ll keep that in mind. Knowing I’m safe from her is a good thing. I’d rather one less enemy...I have enough already.” Any and every senshi and knight he counted as someone out to get him, as he was sure most would jump at the chance to take down a General. It would be a small victory for their side. A General who’d been around as long as he had...had trained others….taking him out would be a good thing.

Laughing he shook his head. “Yes, we can but she is right - don’t try it. They don’t like your kind.” He didn’t make it sound as bad as it could sound, he rather liked corrupted senshi, but he also didn’t want to risk anyone hearing them. So he did filter what he said as much as he could. “We, like me, can bond to them….they will help us and come when we call. Bazzite….I made him - an accident I can assure you. He’d been like me before hand.” An officer as well..a Negaverse officer turned youma...by the petite blond who was getting up for his drink as his name was called.

Standing he smiled down at his fellow blond. “He became a knight now….” And that had hurt - so damn much. The bond had been deep and not just the bond that was magical but emotional as well. Paying for his drink as he reached the counter he came back and sat himself down slowly, gently. His cup clasped between his hands as he inhaled the scent, and the warmth. “One of these days I’ll run into him again....” And when he did he had to try and bring him back. But then what? What did he do once he brought him back? Assuming he did somehow.

“Over time members have come and gone...I figure some just burn out...or decide to focus on life away from duty. Few who remain around, and are active, have been around as long as I have. I’m sure others, who were around before me, can be found...summoned...or may on occasion turn up only to vanish again. But I’ve not slinked off into civilian life. I know a lot and I’ve seen a lot.” His words spoke of someone who had indeed seen and done a lot. Someone who had fought a war for a long time and had blood on their hands...but didn’t seem to pay it any mind. Just someone who was calm and accepting of their place in things.

"Mmm.." A shame really, Mason thought as he took a sip of whatever mystery drink his sister had stuck under his nose. Snow wasn't bad though, and he didn't really mind rain either. "******** ice though." He muttered. "I ain't doing s**t if I see ice on the ground."

"Safe is one way to put it... Just don't know if that's the word I'd always go with." He said watching his sisters retreating form. ********. He'd have to get back at her for this somehow.

"Guess that makes things mutual. I'm not a big fan of them." Science experiments gone wrong if you ask him. "I have no plans to get anywhere near them, let alone on a first name basis with one." He took another sip of his drink, trying to place what exactly it was. It tasted like Chai, but there was something different about it. "Sounds almost like a pet, but with less free will." Ah... So the Negaverse could make those things huh? Good to note... Guess he knew what his fate was should he ever ******** up enough.

Mason rolled his eyes. Ah yes, Knights. Glorified idiots like the rest of them who all thought they were doing the right thing, always, simply because they were on the "right" side. "Order can be just as reckless and destructive as chaos, if in the wrong hands.." The blonde muttered, looking nowhere in particular.

"It's like you said the other day... Just weeding people out..." To each their own he supposed. He wasn't about to complain about someone who couldn't hack it and ran. He'd done something similar once, but in this case, Mason was determined to never look back. "No point in leading some 'civilian life', when they know who you really are." There was only so much hiding one could do.

“It is like a pet...a horrid thing. They were all once people, many are ancient from what I was told - date back to the first war…” The ancient one, and he hoped the other understood what he was saying .They had once been people during the fight between Earth and the Moon and it’s Queen. They had suffered somehow and been made into youma. “They are useful, very useful in some cases, but nothing I’d want to make on my own.” And yet he had done it once, as he’d already said - an accident gone wrong. It wasn’t something he’d ever do again, he knew better now. “They lose their humanity when they become...that.” Shaking his head as he took a sip of his drink, letting the heat from it warm his chilly body. He hated discussing it but it had been done before by him. It was best if people knew.

“Yes, and I find they seem to be just that - reckless and destructive. Perhaps even more than us...if mostly due to their lack of organization and leadership. It’s a shame. We might lack that as well...but not like them.” He wished they had more Generals around...more people who could and would take control of things. He wished they had more General Kings and Queens. He missed the days long gone by. It seemed the war was just dragging on and stagnating now. No one making a move and no ground gained. If it continued like this he’d die of old age and there would still be no victor in this whole mess. Perhaps an old age home for Negaverse agents and chaos senshi...and one for senshi and their knights….how amusing that would be.

“No, there really is no point. I’d also rather not leave others to fight for my future. It’s why I joined...I won’t leave this war for others to fight...for them to decide the future of everyone here - myself included. I’ll fight for the path I want and if we lose then it’s partially my fault...not all the fault of others because I didn’t want to fight for what I want.” He’d fight to create what he wanted...not have someone else do it for him - they wouldn’t fight as hard as he would for his future.

“I wonder why your sister left you.” Left them, left them both here to talk or what have you. Interesting.

Mmm... Youma didn't sound like anything he wanted to be involved with... Or become. "I've heard the same about Ascension." Not that he knew much on it. Just what Jaysen decided to share on the topic. "No offense, but that's not something I plan on doing down the road..." Mason shrugged.

"I guess it depends on who you ask." Chaos would say Order is worse, Order would say Chaos. Everyones opinion was different. "Personally, I don't care either way. As long as I can get the things I need to done, it's all I really care about." Let the rest fight over pointless things. Mason had no... alliegance to anyone in the Negaverse. Yeah he was Chaos but, that didn't mean he was there to make friends.

"That's all you really can do I suppose. Fight for what you believe in. If you chose to leave it to others, or run from it, you have no real say in how things play out. You'd have no right to complain in the end.

Mason rolled his eyes. "Honestly? She probably left cause she's a b***h. She knows I hate... this." He said gesturing to the coffee house around them. "I'm not really what you call... sociable." Mason said flatly. "She only got me out cause I had nothing else to do and she wasn't going to leave my apartment otherwise." The blonde took a sip of his couple his drink, before clearing his throat. "No offense. I'm sure you're a nice guy, this is just... not my forte, if that makes sense." He preferred to keep to himself.

“I can’t say I’ve spoken to either of the ascended generals...but I have read up about it. There isn’t much...it’s rather new. But it seems they lose their emotions, among other things, and are filled with chaos. It’s the only way for your kind to be accepted by the youma.” Keeping his voice low, just incase, and choosing his words as carefully as he could. He hoped the other wasn’t offended by the use of ‘your kind’ but it was safer to say. It was bad enough to go saying youma. He’d like to limit the damning words he was saying. “I wouldn’t want anyone to do it - so no offence taken. I might be what I am...and I am loyal. But I would never want someone to become a puppet either. I suppose I could say it goes hand in hand with why I decided to fight...and why I continue to.” Sipping from his drink again as he leaned back into his seat and let himself slouch a bit even. He was comfortable.

“Exactly. That’s how I felt then and how I still feel. If a person is without emotion...than what is this fight to them? It’s pointless….just point them and they go. They have no passion or thirst for the fight. It’s as pointless to them as anything else….whatever they do it’s all the same.” Shrugging a bit. It was why he hated the ascended...they were nothing but empty puppets for their Queen to use...for Metalia to use as she pleased and they didn’t have a single emotion or thought of their own. The only good thing was that they were loyal...but blindingly so. Stupid.

“Mmm, no offence taken. And I’m not so sure I’m nice. I’m sure some think so...but most I doubt think so.” Shrugging his shoulders a bit. “I’m sure my ex would have a mixed opinion on that….”

"Seems like its no different from becoming a youma." But that was just his opinion. Perhaps that was why youma accepted the ascended.

"This is probably a dumb thing to say, to you of all people but.. Just because I am one of them, does not mean I am with them. The same could even be applied to you, I guess." Just cause they were on the same side, didn't make them allies. "My loyalty is geared more towards the person, I suppose, rather then the cause. I've been a team player before, it didn't work out for me." So he stuck to his guns. "That doesn't mean though, I won't work with them, if it means accomplishing what I need to." Though, he wouldn't hesitate to cast someone aside if they got in his way. "I am no traitor though. Not where it counts."

He snorted, somewhat playfully. "I dunno.. Jay seems to be pretty emotionless. Don't know if I would lump her in with them though, probably wouldn't end well." For who, was undecided.

"As most ex's do. They're right, you're wrong. They're way or the highway." He shrugged again. "Best to just avoid those."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 28, 2021 5:44 pm

“You’re not wrong - they are in a way similar I suppose. I doubt most would even think of that but hearing it - there is sense to it.” Most he doubted would consider them so similar but they were, most he figured wouldn’t look at it since one was human and one clearly wasn’t. Most youma didn’t even speak any sort of human language...at least the ascended senshi did. “They both are the most dedicated to chaos and it shows.” Clearly.

“It’s not dumb, at least not with me. I suppose you might want to watch what you say to and around others. But you’ll find that I’m honest and I prefer those around me be the same.” He just wasn’t good at lying, it really was that simple. “I’ll help the cause because it helps me in the long run. If I can help shape this war and its outcome - then I’ve done my job.” At least he would hope he had. He’d hope things would turn out how he wanted them to. He did, on rare occasions, when he was alone at night he’d wonder about that future he’d seen. It had been horrible and those that had died - he had died! The fate of the city had been a miserable situation and he wondered if there was no way to win the war and avoid that future. But he didn’t dwell on it - he couldn’t afford to. He’d picked his side and he wasn’t about to go becoming a knight. He doubted the other side would even want him! They’d let him wear their uniform and purify but he didn’t think they’d actually want him and let him join them or help in whatever way he could. It was perhaps a good thing he’d never join their side...that would be war amongst them all - him vs. them.

“Hmmm...something like that. He’s a civilian...I’m not. I thought it would be ok...I’d tried someone from our side - he was a psycho. There was a civilian who was older then me...that failed. I tried to be safe. But when he was out I’d invite team members over. Apparently that went badly - inviting people over and not introducing him. It was also an issue having my cousin living with us.” Shaking his head he huffed out a breath, fingers twining in his bangs and tugging, a sign of stress or upset. “At least Katya can freely talk around the house now. I just…” A shrug from his shoulders..as if saying he’d tried and was giving up...and perhaps he was.

He and Aiden were talking again, had been for a while now, but did it matter? He doubted they could work things out. Katya would have to go silent in the house again when he was home and he’d worry about injuries and hiding them. There was also the issue of his cousin living with them. It was a mess and if he actually thought about it, which he tried to avoid doing, he didn’t think it could work...not at this point. Maybe he should have just told Aiden and let everything fall where it would.

"If I may be so bold, uh... Alexandre." What was he supposed to actually call this man in public? Did rank still apply? "I wouldn't exactly call... selling your soul to cause dedication. Obsessive, maybe but..." He made a face, thinking about it. "The Ascended, you say they lose their humanity and emotions, yes? They essentially lose what makes them them." Less human. "In all actuality, how does that make them any different from youma, if I may ask. At that point they're no more than a slave to something they believe in." The blonde waved a hand towards the smaller blonde before him. "But on the other hand, lets say, y-er... Uh. Ben..." Oh god end him now. "Ben has given years towards this fight, you said right? He's tried a few things. Made a few mistakes, but learned from them. He's climbed the ranks, but hasn't had to lose himself in the process. He is still him. Ben is still... human."

Mason shrugged. "I suppose it's fortunate then, that I have not gotten acquainted with many others. Again, I prefer to keep to myself." He supposed that was a bad thing in the long run but, at the moment, he didn't exactly care.

Mason fixed Alex with a confused stare.

This man had *horrible* dating sense. "Uh... Isn't... Isn't dating a plain civilian in this case a bad thing? If you made enemies, and they found out. They have no way of defending themselves." He wasn't even going to *touch* the psycho topic. "And... my place is probably the last place I would be calling any "team" members over to... No offense." Just cause he worked with these people didn't mean he wanted to see them outside of it... Or for them to know where he lived. "Katya being.. Like Iolite, I presume?"
