Mirosnjha really did not go looking for trouble.
There was no reason to. He was just one guardian with abilities that were only especially useful when he was united with a senshi. When he was alone, he could really only fire off one zap, and when his one shot was used up, he was pretty much effed. So he certainly didn't go looking for trouble, and Miros really only spent time outside after dusk if he absolutely had to.
Today was a special case.
Miros had a small assortment of regular civilian humans he resided with. Sometimes he stayed in a cozy apartment with a lonely grandma. Sometimes he stayed in a bustling home with three kids and two other cats. Sometimes he hung around a shoddy duplex with a single mom and her son. The humans were all good people who treated him well, and he was allowed to come and go as he pleased.
His most recent lounge was the bachelor pad of a single man. The human was usually home in the evenings, offering a relatively quiet, secure place for Mirosnjha to doze.
He hadn't returned home after work today.
Any number of things could've caused this, though Miros decided to hope for the best and assume that his human friend had simply gone on a date or was having dinner with a friend. It wasn't impossible to say the least. Miros lingered inside for a while, but eventually, he decided his nighttime services were better spent somewhere someone would appreciate them. He did not particularly enjoy spending nights alone in an apartment.
So he slipped out the window that was left cracked just for him and plopped down onto the railing below. It was a nice, quiet night, at least. The air pretty cold for a March night, but his dense fur kept him comfortable, and the buildings on all sides of the road kept the worst of the wind at bay.
He dropped down from the railing to the sidewalk below and plodded down the street.
It wasn't until Miros was well away from the safety of a familiar shelter that he heard... something. It wasn't quite a growl, nor the chattering of birds. It was just a low, echoing sort of clicking. He sniffed the air, ears perking up as he tried to gauge where the sound was coming from, or what it was coming from. But it wasn't familiar to him. He'd never heard it before.
Miros peeked around a corner into an alleyway, crystal blue eyes narrowed into a squint as he peered through the darkness toward some blobby shape that seemed to be... confused. It wasn't moving very much, just seemed to be standing, staring blankly, facing away from Miros. The clicks paused as Miros stared, and the shape turned in his direction, revealing a gaunt woman unmoving on the ground before it, with a slackened jaw and bulging eyes, skin stretched impossibly wide around her face, as if more than just her energy had been drained from her.
Miros' body instinctively pressed to the ground, ears snapping back as the creature moved its disjointed body to... to see him? For all that it had no eyes, that didn't seem to stop it from acknowledging him as it clicked rows upon rows of little snaps that lined it's face. "Mauvian..." It rumbled out in a peculiar sort of hiss as it took a staggering plod in his direction, with long, skinny arms reaching out toward him with some sort of draining force.
Mirosnjha fled, bolting back the way he'd come as he yowled for anyone who might be in the vicinity to stay away.
Something flickered to his right, and the creature was suddenly there, body moving slowly toward him, despite the abrupt appearance. Youma couldn't teleport as far as Miros understood, but that didn't mean it wasn't there right now, plodding after him.
"Help!" Miros shrieked as he skidded to a stop, the word bubbling out of him in his panic. His claws scrabbled for purchase on the cement, as he changed directions and pelted off the other way. A warbling cry echoed from the monster, and it felt as though it pressed him to the ground, sapping much of his ability to move. He yowled in terror, unsure if he hoped it scared people away or drew them toward him.
