Kurai recalled her brothers words, if she wanted to reach that level she had to make the same passage, all alone on the full moon she had to make it to the top of the memorial tower. Her family were caretakers of the dead, they protected and kept the graves and memorial sites safe and clean. Kurai wanted to be a part of that, but first she had to pass the test. She paused at the entrance to the graveyard, watching the sky as the moon rose up toward its peak. Per tradition she closed her eyes and pulled one pokeball out, looking at it once it was chosen she saw Nero, her houndoom. "Alright, come on out boy. Lets do this" She stated as he appeared. She left her bag with her brother and started walking through the dark area, feeling the cold breeze brush against her bare arm. She could feel the aura of the area start to change as she kept herself calm. She let out a slow breath as she pulled the door open to the building and stepped inside. " To the top... watch out for spirits." She told him as they walked together.
Things would rattle and fly around, somethings aimed at her but Nero would not let any harm befall his trainer. Step for step, floor by floor they wound up higher and higher. Kurai was shaking as she stopped to catch her breath. " Floor... one thirty three... we are... half... way there..." She panted. She wished she had exercised a lot more after this. Still she would not give up. It felt like hours but they finally reached the top. As she reached the top she heard something hitting the ground and paused. She was having trouble seeing so she grabbed a candle next to the door as they walked out onto the roof of the memorial tower. Nero blasted a small burst of flames into the air as she held the candle up, light the wick.
