It had been months since he'd started talking to Kalli and he'd even met her son, Jax. He'd taken her to meet his daughter, Brexxa, just the other week so he thought it was fair to say they were pretty well invested in each other's company. Of course he'd not asked her nor had she asked him to make their relationship an official one.
As he entered the tavern she was always performing in he looked around to see if she was on stage or sitting at a table as usual. It took him only a second to locate her sitting at the bar speaking with the tender behind it. Gael smiled at the dress she had on, it was the one he'd pointed out to her on their last market visit.

She was sitting at the bar waiting for the busy hours to hit so that there would be more customers in the Tavern to perform for. The more there were the better the tips. Not to mention the general consumption of booze increased and made the owner happy. Kalli was having a nice conversation with the tender about their expected day off and what they planned to do.
"I think you and your wife would enjoy the park in the south district. Its very peaceful." She nodded her head at her own words. She knew from experience just how beautiful that park was since she'd gone there with Gael on a date.
When the man behind the counter looked up to acknowledge the customer that walked in she thought nothing of it. When he grinned and made a motion with his head she gave a confused look before she turned around to see who it was.

He watched as the tender was the one to give away his presence. Gael shook his head at the man before he paused to look at Kalli with a smile. "Hello gorgeous." He walked the rest of the way over to her and reached out to envelope her in a hug with both arms. "Have a good day so far?" He knew she didn't technically have to dance until later but he was aware that she got up early to help out with other chores.
Gael kissed her cheek affectionately. "Not telling the nice bar tender how to do his job are you?" His question was followed by another kiss, this one cutting off any complain she may have about his teasing.

When she saw Gael she gave him her brightest smile. Kalli returned the hug and giggled when he kissed her cheek. He always did that now and it made her feel good. As he teased at her she went to say something but was cut off and even though she knew that was the plan she couldn't help but melt. Her shoulders relaxed a little and she had a small grin on her face when he pulled away.
"I was not telling him how to do his job.." She finally commented. "I was suggesting a place for him to take his wife on his day off." Kalli brought a hand up to gently tap him on the tip of his nose. "I thought they might enjoy the park in the south district."
Her head tilted a bit to the side as she caught the light of the sun through the window. It was a bit early for Gael to be at the tavern. "No work today?" She questioned.

"Ah, well that is good." Knowing that the poor man behind the counter wasn't being lectured was good. The tap to his nose made him give Kalli a loving look. The two of them had become so comfortable around one another that they did silly little things that the other seemed to accept and adore. "Oh. That is a good idea. The park is nice, I would suggest a picnic." He looked at the man and gave a nod and wink.
When Kalli asked him about work he brought his attention back to her and shook his head slightly. "I'm off early. The newbie has learned quite a bit and because of that time is shorter these days." He'd written to her when they'd first gotten the new hire so she would know who he was speaking of. "I thought I might spend this time with you before you need to be on stage. Unless you'd rather I go elsewhere?" Gael asked innocently.

Her brows shot up with impressed surprise. "Oh, well that is good. Seems he must have had a good teacher then." Kalli praised him. Her hand gently cradled the side of his face as she leaned closer. Of course when he asked her if she wanted him to go elsewhere she stopped to give him a less than amused look. "Really?"
A shake of her head and she leaned back on her stool and dropped her hand. "I think I would rather you spent time with me. Unless your daughter is in town then I wouldn't dream of taking up all your time." He meeting Brexxa had been a bit tense. The girl hadn't outright said she hated Kalli but she'd made it clear she wasn't fond of the Oban. "I really need to find a way to make it up to her." She worried about the girl not liking her.

The mention of Kalliope trying to make it up to his daughter made him offer a cringe. "That might take a bit. She likes to hold grudges." Gael knew his little girl was stubborn about certain things. "I wouldn't push it though. Brexxa will come around on her own time." He wrapped his arms around Kalli again, this time get to hold her close and offer comfort.
"Just continue to be you. Caring. Kind. And wanting to reach out to her. She will see it and understand you a bit more." He was sure of it. Gael just wasn't sure how long it would take. Up until now he'd never given his attention to anyone else other than Brexxa and her brother, though he was far more independent than she was and had already picked a mentor and had practically moved out.

"Do you think that will be enough?" She questioned it. Kalliope thought that maybe she should try harder, offer more. Something to get Brexxa to like her. And if not like then at least tolerate her more than what she had. Crossed arms, pouting, and glares weren't exactly inviting.
"I don't want her to feel like I am trying to take you away." She really worried about that. Jax was older and understood that his mother was seeing someone else. It changed some things but not others. And of course he'd always had to share her attention with his brother, his dad, and the bandits at the camp so he understood that she had plenty to go around.
"I'd like to invite her here to spend some time with me if that's alright?" She didn't want to overstep any boundaries of course.

Honestly he wasn't sure if that would be enough but until Brexxa told him what the underlying problem was it would have to be. It did make him like Kalli all the more that she was so worried about it though. And it made him more sure about what he wanted to talk to her about. "She will likely be mad at anyone I pay attention to. I'm afraid that is my fault as I did spoil her as she was growing up." Not that he was sorry for that.
When she asked if it would be alright for her to have his daughter come stay and spend time with her he grinned. "That would be nice. I can send word to her and see if she will come." He leaned his head forward so that his forehead could rest against hers. "You are amazing, Kalli."

It wasn't a bad thing that he'd spoiled his daughter so much, she just needed to show Brexxa that it was alright. Gael giving his okay on the matter made her smile. When he put his head to hers she looked at him for a moment then closed her eyes to enjoy the closeness and the affection that the move meant. Trust. Being called amazing only made her smile.
"I am glad my wife doesn't see you two or she might get ideas." The tender said off hand as he moved away from them.
Kalliope chuckled and opened her eyes to look at her sailor. "Maybe I should tell his wife what she is missing." She didn't see anything wrong with their small displays of affection anyways.

It was a perfect moment. That was until the tender said something. Gael didn't mind though, since it was amusing. That and he really didn't have a temper unless you pushed certain buttons. That had been taken out of him a long time ago.
As Kalli gave her own retort he grinned. "Speaking of ideas and missing something.." His hands moved so that they trailed from her shoulders down her arms to her hands so that he held both of them. "I had something to talk to you about." That was the whole reason for him being there early.
"We've been seeing each other for a while now and things are going good. Would it be too much for me to assume this will last for a long time?" He wanted to know her thoughts on it all. Where did she see this going?

She blinked when his hands moved down her arms to hold her hands. She looked at them then back up at his face. Was something wrong? As he spoke she processed what he was saying and slowly tilted her head, the headdress she wore making small sounds as beads clinked together gently. "What..? Of course. I was hoping this would last a very long time."
Kalli suddenly felt nervous. Had something happened or had she done something wrong?

He noticed everything she did, the blink, the head tilt, and even the nervous look she gave him at the end. It was his turn to chuckle. One hand left hers and reached up to brush against her cheek softly. "I am glad to hear that." Knowing that she wanted things to continue on was reassuring for him.
"I wanted to ask you if you wanted to move in with me." He looked at her to study her expression more, see if he could pick up on any signals. "I have the house in Matori of course, but I know you work here and so do I, but I also have the room at the Inn." It was big enough for two beds, a chest, a dresser, a washbasin, a tub, and still had room for him to do pushups without feeling cramped. It was more like a penthouse since he practically lived in the attic. It was still humble but that was how he lived.

The question he asked her was not what she was expecting to hear. She stared at him for a moment. "I would love to." Her son could stay at the tavern since he was making enough money to afford the room on his own. She could stay with Gael at the Inn and walk to work in the evenings. It would also give her more time to spend with the matorian who had become dear to her.
She pulled at his hand and brought him closer to her so she could initiate the hug this time. Kalli couldn't stop smiling.

"I know it's not marriage or anything like that. I want to take things slow like we are. With Brexxa acting out and you wanting to consider her feelings I figured we could do this one step at a time." He felt he had to explain but she pulled him in for a hug this time and he obliged.
Gael put his arms around her and kissed the top of her head. "I am glad to hear that you like the idea. I like it too. This means you are officially my woman to cherish then." Not like he didn't do that before.
