Intro to Guardian Cats Whether knowingly or not, Mauvians have always held a place in Earth’s history. Once regarded as gods, they were revered by some of Earth’s early civilizations. Some even believe it may have been their influence that led to the creation of some of Earth’s greatest and most puzzling monuments. They offer wisdom and comfort in the darkest times along with the encouragement to do what is necessary with the rare few truly awakening to the full potential of the former Mau.
In short, where most credit actually goes to the common house cat, felis catus, it is truly the Mauvian who is humanity’s best friend... At least that is what they would have you believe, and what a number of those who have awakened over the years have convinced themselves of entirely.
At any given time on Earth there is at least one Mauvian awake and active -- observing, exploring and making sure the information relay to the Archives remains intact and uninterrupted. If all proceeds as per the usual the guardian is permitted to rest and relax, in recent years using inferior technology to explore the World Wide Web and sometimes dabbling into gaming. If a rise in Chaos is sensed the guardian sets all novelty and nonsense aside, returning to their duties of Awakening.
As the only ones able to produce the special items that allow Sailor Soldiers to awaken, Mauvian have formed a sort of symbiotic relationship with these powered individuals and as such tend to side with Order more often than not despite considering themselves a Neutral party in most cases. That is not to say that all Mauvian are Good and that it is not possible for one to act against the inclination towards Neutral Good as a whole… But those who find themselves willing to aide Chaos instead may very well find themselves at an overall disadvantage in times to come.

Basic Information:
All current timeline Guardian Cats have been born on Earth. Awakened one by one once Chaos resurfaced, all Guardian Cats are believed to be Earth-born descendants of past Mauvians.
Guardian Cats cannot be corrupted. Any Guardian Cat working with the Negaverse does so of their own choice. Keep in mind there will at some point be IC repercussions for doing so, but it is not OOCly discouraged.
Civilians cannot hear Guardian Cats talk. Civilian characters will only hear meowing or other forms of feline vocalizations when a Guardian Cat talks.
As a Neutral party, Guardian Cats cannot reveal important information about an opposing faction to their enemy. If a Guardian Cat attempts to disclose faction specific information to an opposing faction the person listening will only hear meowing or other forms of feline vocalizations.
Roleplay is required for owner's of Guardian Cats. While we will not take your character away from you if you are not an active role player, Guardian Cats do require role play in order to obtain information and future upgrades. Guardian Cats who are not actively engaging with the powered community will not receive invitations to Cat-Only events and, after an extended period of time with no contact, may find their Mauvian placed back into 'stasis' as a regular house cat with their senshi either temporarily or permanently reassigned.

Guardian Cat Stages Stage 1 -- Cat Form
At this stage you are a cat. You have always been a cat. You've never not been a cat. The moon on your forehead means that you're special, but you are still a cat.
Actually, you're more than that and you've just found this out! Turns out your something called a Mauvian which is suspiciously like a cat only cooler. No, seriously. There are some people who can actually understand you when you talk now, you are able to eat food that is way more interesting than kibble without hurking and, in certain circumstances, you are compelled to pull a magical pen out of nowhere to help a Sailor Soldier awaken. NEAT, right?
Abilities:
Senshi Sense - Upon making eye contact with a human, typically after realizing the human in question can actually hear them, a guardian cat can provide an unawakened Sailor Soldier with their henshin pen and name.
Tactical Cloak - Temporarily dampens the energy signature of single Sailor Soldier or a small group of Sailor Soldiers when the ability is combined with that of other Guardian Cats. The more Sailor Soldiers involved, or the higher the rank of a single Scout, the shorter the duration of this ability's effect. **Important Note** After a Sailor Soldier hits Super stage or higher this ability will never completely mask their signature unless multiple cats are involved.
Focus Blast - In times of extreme distress during dire circumstances a Guardian Cat can fire a laser beam from the moon on its forehead. **Important Note**This ability is typically used as a last resort in battle, requiring a Guardian Cat's focus to channel all of their energy into the blast. As such, it can only be used, at a max, once per day with most information Mau are provided stressing that it's best to only use once every three days to avoid harm and ensure maximum effect.

Guardian Cat Requirements ICly Guardian Cats WILL:
Have unique role play opportunities specifically dedicated to their faction.
Require role play and participation in order to unlock special features and gain access to/create new technology.
Be in charge of sharing information with senshi who have been assigned to them for care and training purposes.
OOCly Players of Guardian Cats WILL:
Have the opportunity to help shape the faction as it grows through plot submissions and feedback.
Be expected to communicate well with one another as well as the player base as the shop grows.
Need an understanding of the Role Play rules, which includes acceptance that if they aren't able to participate in a specific Guardian Cat plot or event there may be some additional role plays required to 'catch up.
Need a little bit of patience and flexibility as we work out the kinks and figure out what works best for everyone involved. In selecting players for Guardian Cats we are looking for players who are willing to take an active roll in providing us, and each other, with positive feedback and support which will extend to future Guardian Cats AND, most importantly, to the players with Sailor Soldiers.
In order to awaken as a Sailor Soldier all players must have a role play with a Guardian Cat. While we do have a Shop Cat NPC available, we want to open this up to include other players as well, giving you the opportunity to help grow someone else's story as well as your own. We want Guardian Cats to be an active role in the lives of senshi they awaken or senshi who might be assigned to them after being awakened by the Shop Cat. It is our goal to provide you with the means to help build a community with each other.
All Guardian Cats will be expected to keep a log tracking their progress and communications with their senshi. An example of the layout can be found [here]
On a quarterly basis, at the very least, we will run Cat-Only events. Guardian Cats who are not actively engaging with the powered community will not receive invitations to these and may either miss out on unique opportunities or require additional role play in order to catch up to their peers. Examples of "actively engaging with the powered community" include, but are not limited to:
Awakening RPs with New Senshi - All Guardian Cats will be provided with a template of information to review with their new charge to help streamline this process!
Training RPs with Existing Senshi - Does not necessarily mean arranging or facilitating and could be as little as just being present to shield the training session!
Touch-Base RPs with Existing Senshi - Can be as little as setting up a text-message chain for communication with your team!
Touch-Base RPs with other Mauvian - Quarterly meetings, text-message chains with other cats, etc.
Cats should be checking in with senshi assigned to them regularly, helping them form connections with one another in order to build relationships and form a team.
From an OOC standpoint, for all that we are using the word 'assigned', By Moonlight will never force someone to take on a senshi or work with a player that they would not be comfortable playing with, but there are some expectations that players be flexible and willing to branch out if and when they can. It will be up to players to decide what might work best for them in the long run, although we will do our best to help facilitate connections for those who might be otherwise anxious about reaching out to one another.
Players who are unable to meet or maintain the minimum requirements may find their Mauvian placed back into 'stasis' as a regular house cat with their senshi either temporarily or permanently reassigned in order to keep the flow and progress of Role Play going for our players. Understanding that life does happen, we ask that lines of communication be kept open in the event something might impact your ability to keep up! We will work with you where we can, when we can.
