Greetings!

Hi! This is Tai, your captain speaking. I want to thank you for joining this guild and encourage you to go through this guide. I tried to keep it pretty basic and organized. In it you will find simple rules and guidelines, a glossary of terms that might not be apparent at first, and an explanation of other things to help you get immersed into this world. Once you have read it, please click the Yes in the poll to show that you have read it.

Rules

These are the die hard non negotiable rules for the guild as a whole:

Quote:
1. Be respectful. Playing around is one thing, but if you are asked to stop, then stop. A good way of thinking of it is treat others how you would like to be treated. We all sometimes poke a bit of fun of something we think is funny, we all make mistakes. Please understand that not everybody is going to like what you like. It doesn't matter if the subject is video games or politics. We are all here to have fun.

2. No Bullying or Harassment.

3. No cheating.

4. Abide by Gaia's TOS. This guild is PG13, not NC17 or R. I won't tell you to have your character to be good or angelic, but please use common sense.

What if I don't believe that the mod who dinged me is being fair?

If you believe that a mod ruling is unfair, you may state your case in DM with the captain or vice captain who will review the situation. There will be a one week delay before severe action (character resets or deletions, permanent ban, things like that) is enacted with few exceptions. Only guild captain or vice captain. However, be respectful about your request. It will be wise to screen cap the issue or link to it if you are reporting it. Bans are a last resort penalty.

What if I don't like somebody?

That's not against the rules, but while you're not required to like them, you are required to show respect. We do not expect formality, but we do not want you to actively try to hurt people's feelings or target them. If they ask you to stop, then stop.

What if there isn't a rule for X?

Well, that's a tricky one. If you are uncertain and it seems like a jerk thing to do, don't do it. If you are uncertain you could just ask a mod. Not liking a thing is not a reason for a rule to exist. Also, people are entitled to their opinions - even wrong ones.

What constitutes as cheating?

Cheating is counted a few different ways - deleting posts in random dice topic to get a better roll, using unapproved abilities in combat and events (it is possible that it can simply result in the action being of no power and useless, but it depends on the severity), God Moding where you control another person's character is expressly considered as cheating save for if you have prior permission or have an approved method (should that ever be determined as an acceptable thing). Otherwise, just follow the instructions given for each situation.

Death

Deaths where your body still exists in some fashion your body and soul will be reunited in the Shrines of Resurrection located in each realm. (You will appear in the shrine in your realm of origin or the one closest to you currently.) There is a price to pay for it. The price to revive is currently equal to your HP in Gills. If you are incapable of paying for the process the clerics (npc) will give you a quest to collect the materials to revive you. You may hope that one of your traveling companions will be generous enough to pay or do this task for you, but do not rely upon it. There is one inherent risk of death - that the killer or somebody wandering by may loot your body before the transportation process can begin - there being a 2 day limit to how long you can take to post in the shrine after which your items are fair game for looters after the initial assault. Those who skip out on paying the shrines will be hunted by Debt Collectors who are given cart blanche on how to handle your debt as long as the shrine gets its due.

Combat

Stats

You start with 100 to divide between Mana, Strength, Speed, and Defense.

Mana: This is your magical strength
Strength This is your physical strength
Speed: This is how fast your actions can be
Defense: This protects your hit points

The base gain rates are uniform for all characters regardless of race which is: 500 words per stat Monday-Thursday, 300 words per stat Friday-Sunday; Holidays 200 words per stat - see announcement for how many days are included and which holidays count.

The upper limit for your stat total is 1000 at this time.

Stamina:

Stamina is your cost pool, if your character runs low on stamina, your character is effectively exhausted. If it hits zero, your character passes out. Use it wisely. It does not regain until after a rest outside of battle.

Hit Points:

These are generally 2x your current stat total and you start out with 200. These are your health points. Once you are down to half your HP you are considered seriously injured, but still mobile unless the injury is logically going to prevent that. Once you run out of Hit Points your character is considered dead or dying. Your character will need immediate medical attention or some immediate form of revival or stasis. Hit Points are not a good gauge of power level. They're how much life force you have. Your use of your skills, or lack there of, and your strategy will determine if you win or not just as much as how many hit points you have left.

Note: While death sucks, it is a part of the game. Should there be no way to bring your character back from the brink you may simply create a new character with the information in your profile by submitting a character change in profile submissions.

How do I gain stats and what are they for?

Stats are for combat and certain job or guild requirements. You can gain them from performing jobs, quests, certain level milestones, acceptance into a guild (only available for the first time you join a guild in character).

PVP rewards will be determined by the following criteria - the stat ratio between opponents, fairness, and whether or not it is a tournament. Cheating by either side will cost the cheater of rewards, but not the innocent party, should there be determined such a situation. Non official combat must abide by agreed upon rules set between players. Most combat, unless it is specified in the fight as clearly situation where one or more characters died, hitting 0 HP marks you as KO and you will have 2 days to post your character getting healed.

Don't complain if you attack somebody well out of your league and get defeated. That's not their fault. You opted to sign up for your own mugging.

_______________

What is Job Level?

Your character starts out at Unskilled Laborer. Once you pick a job class to specialize in you get promoted every so many levels. This may depend on job class chosen. After a certain point, you can dual job class into a different job which can result in a new job title entirely. For example if you start out as a warrior and opt to take on a cleric role, you become a Paladin - a battle priest of sorts. For more details read the job guide.

How do I level up my job ranks?

Just role play as normal. See job for details.

How do I train (learn skills)?

Skills can be learned from certain items (books, scrolls, etc), schools, and occasionally the mods might toss you some skill or training. There may be other methods in the future. Stats can also be gained in this way.

I trained by using an item/posting in a training area/etc. Do I have to choose between stat and Skills?

No. Just like you grow as you learn, so does your character. You may have both your stats and your Skills.

What are Promotions?

Promotions are for your job class. This allows you to accept jobs and quests based on your current job rank. In the beginning you start out as Unskilled Labor - which is largely really basic quests, but as you learn new skills, perform more tasks for certain NPCs, you can unlock better skills.

Guilds and jobs

After a certain point you will be capable of joining your chosen job class' guild which will have its own quests and special offerings including specialized skills or shop discounts, depending upon your choice. You can learn job skills that are unrelated and go up the ladder with another job - however you may only be a member of one guild at a time. You may, however leave one guild to join another should your second job class be more of your interest, but you will lose access to the benefits of your original guild.

How many jobs can I level up at a time?

You may level up two job classes, but you must meet the requirements.

Can I have other job skills aside from my two job classes?

You may learn any apprentice level job skills. Anything that involves a promotion is off limits after you have picked your two jobs.

Combat Guide

This is a basic guide and set of rules. As things progress, we may need to change them, but there will be an announcement to go along with it.

A Definition of Terms

Augment: Any skill or item that alters your attack power or stats

Nullifier: Any skill or item that negates an action or augment

Shield: A physical defensive object that can be a traditional item or erected using magic. Example - Toph raising a rock wall in Avatar.

Barrier: Like a shield, except instead of being made of physical matter, made of pure mana/energy. Typically this can be magical, electric, or flame based. Example - When Zuko creates a wall of fire to stop an attack.

Med+: Any healing item that can be created or purchased to help you heal.

Med-: Any item that causes negative health effects, such as by poison or magic.

Revive: To return to life from near death.

Resurrect: To return to life from death.

Basic Guidelines and Rules:

1. If you do not wish for your character to fight, you may withdraw to a safer location.

2. Post order in fights need to be respected unless the person whose turn it is to post passes and lets you go ahead. Really, this is just common courtesy. You have 2 days to post, however, you can request for an extention if you need it - such as an emergency.

3. Once in combat, no updates will be processed for the characters involved until the end of the fight. This is to keep things fair. So try to do your updates first or after.

4. You may use: 1 augment, 1 attack, 1 movement and 1 healing skill per battle. Alternatively, you may substitute your attack with a defensive move.

5. If you wish to disengage from a fight, notify the other player or players involved so that you can work things out. If it is an official fight we can pause it until you are able to return. In general, I highly recommend constant communication between players during interaction.
