The King (Elder): Maximillian
User Image

Ranks:
  • King (Elder) (Default rank, gets rank abilities.)

  • King's Circle
These are the individuals closest to the King, some of them even being leaders of their sects.
    - King's Mate: The King's chosen lifemate.
    - Captain of the Guard: The #1 King's Guard fox, the King's Guard follows their orders.
    - Spymaster: The #1 Scout. Sometimes sent on missions to gather intel about other tribes, potential threats, the surrounding area, etc.
    - Chancellor: The King's personal secretary, keeps tabs on everything that occurs within the Court, as well as the Court's overall inventory of goods: food stores, supplies, luxuries, etc.
    - Personal Attendant: The King's personal attendants. 1 - 2 max? Maximillian hates to admit it, but the King is a busy fox, and as the Court grows over time he'll need some helping hands! Foxes who will fetch him necessary items, keep his personal chambers tidy, attend to whatever minor issues pop up, etc.

  • Protectors of the Court
    - King's Guard: Battle-hardened fighters, these are skilled warriors enlisted by the King to keep the peace and address any threats to the Court. They're lead by the Captain of the Guard.
    - Scout: "A scout is responsible for finding out information and relaying important messages to the other tribes." (Default rank, gets rank abilities.)
    - Watchman: As the Court grows larger, the King will insist on having a few watchmen posted along the wall, with separate day and night shifts available.
    - Apothecary (Shaman): The doctors of the tribe, they handle any injured or ill foxes with simple remedies, herbal concoctions, and medicines. (Default rank, gets rank abilities.)
    - Carer: "A carer could be considered a professional babysitter, watching over the kits in the tribe while the parents are away to make sure they come to no harm." (Default rank, gets rank abilities.)
    - Tribe Guardian: Those big ol' dragon-like things that help guard the tribe. Y'know. Tribe guardians.

  • Providers of the Court
    - Baker: Foxes who handle very basic baking for the Court, utilizing crude flour made from both wild and locally grown grains. Baked goods are considered a rare treat, reserved for special occasions!
    - Butcher: Wanting to make daily tasks more efficient, the King decided that it would be best to have a role specifically for foxes who want to strip down prey vs actually hunting down prey.
    - Cook: Foxes who handle very basic cooking for the Court, in the form of meals cooked by the hearth. Light seasoning with local herbs and perhaps simple spices purchased from other tribes/foxes.
    - Hunter: "A hunter is essential to the tribe, hunting down game (deer, elk, wild boars, gamefowl, small rodents, etc.) and supplying a majority of the food for the tribe." (Default rank, gets rank abilities.)

  • Gatherers of the Court
    - Beekeeper: All of the flowers in the Garden have resulted in a strong population of wild honeybees, and certain members of the Court have learned how to gather honey and keep the bee population healthy and happy.
    - Farmer: Foxes who specialize in growing specific crops from the seed packets Maximillian & co. originally discovered. Lettuce, zucchini, beets, turnips, sweet potatoes, strawberries, and sunflowers.
    - Gatherer: "A gatherer will help a hunter bring home a satisfyingly large kill, as well as collect herbs, plants, and any other materials needed." (Default rank, gets rank abilities.)
    - Herbalist: Foxes who specialize in cultivating and gathering a variety of herbs, roots, and flowers.

  • Entertainers of the Court
    - Dancer
    - Entertainer
    - Musician
    - Poet
    - Singer

  • Crafters of the Court
    - Candlemaker
    - Carpenter: The Court occupies an old cottage and some other storage buildings, and as time passes, they're sure to need repairs. In time, the King will enlist intelligent foxes to make these repairs, in whatever ways they can manage!
    - Mason: As the Court grows larger, the King will state the need for a wall of some kind, surrounding the primary living space of the Court. In time, the King will enlist strong and intelligent foxes to build a crude wall of stone and clay!
    - Scribe
    - Sculptor

  • Merchant: This is an additional role for foxes with "lower" ranks (any ranks outside of the King & King's Court), for those who wish to sell or trade any extra produce and wares that they end up with. Example: a fox with the Hunter rank could also decide to be a Merchant on the side! Wealth is the last thing on the King's mind - so long as the Court's basic needs are met, foxes are free to sell their additional wares to either fellow members of the Court or visiting outsiders. When the Court grows large enough, there may also be the opportunity to travel to other tribes and trade!

  • Apprentice: The kits of the tribe. Kits are encouraged, but not required, to tag along with older members of the Court and learn whatever they can about the ranks that may interest them. Since they're still young, apprentices are allowed to learn about multiple ranks at this point, not strictly locked into one.

  • Untasked (Tribe Member): "Your standard member, an extra hand who can help with any of the above tasks."

General Info
The group, as a whole, is referred to as "the Blooming Court." Individuals are referred to either by their name(s), rank(s), or as "a member of the Court/members of the Court."

Maximillian is a fox who, in his youth, decided to flee from his homeland alongside his younger sister, both of them tired of the expectations placed upon them due to their royal blood. The two eventually split on good terms, each of them going down their own path: his sister had found love and wished to start a family, while Maximillian wished to explore the lands with his newfound freedom. -insert other details later ooh-

The Blooming Court is a place of growth and new beginnings, open to all that may wish to find their place in life or simply start anew. Maximillian will not judge others for what they have done prior to joining the court, nor hold them to any strict standards. If an individual truly wishes to start a new life, Maximillian believes that they will prove it through their actions and decisions once they’ve entered the court, finding their place (in both life and the court) and helping their new home flourish. Should someone enter the Blooming Court and then do harm to their fellow court members, Maximillian will have them banished and escorted from the land by the King’s Guard. Occasional fights and bickering between court members is to be expected, but any intentional harm will not be tolerated. The Garden is meant to be a safe haven, and the King will not allow harm to befall his people.

expect lots of nature and plant analogies here, folks

The Blooming Court values:
  • growth: personal growth, though the growth of life around them (plants, wildlife, etc.) is also valued!
  • change: everything changes, constantly. there's no stopping it. the world around us, the seasons, people, life in general. most importantly, us as individuals.

The Blooming Court worships:
  • primary ‘deities: modeity of growth? modeity of spring, for sure!
  • sub-deities: plants? change?

Territory
  • no major sources of saltwater or freshwater nearby! this means no fishing, and no sea life. the Court's main water sources are 1) an old well, 2) a few small hand pump wells, 3) decorative fountains. there is at least one pond and river within the woods, but it's a bit of a hike to get to them.

  • the main swath of land that the tribe occupies is referred to as “The Garden,” and at the center of it is the old church known as “King's Keep.” The Blooming Court is meant to serve as a safe haven for foxes to grow and develop as individuals. much of the land also serves as a literal garden, with flowers, medicinal herbs, and all kinds of other plants cultivated by the tribe!

  • King's Keep: a large, old church with multiple floors and rooms (three floors - 1st floor, 2nd floor, basement), long abandoned by humans. clearly aged, with creaky wood, chipped stone, cracks in a few tiles, and some small breaks in the stained glass windows, but overall it seems to be in relatively good shape! tribe meetings take place within King's Keep - the King will make announcements from the altar, with the rest of the Court congregating in the aisles.
    - 1st floor and it's many rooms will, initially, serve as housing for all members of the Court. however, once the tribe is up and running and has begun to repair some of the buildings surrounding King's Keep, it will not serve as housing for the rest of the tribe, but instead, storage and workshops for the Court's wide array of professions.
    - 2nd floor houses the King and King's Court.
    - the basement serves as the Court's main storage area and could easily be considered the "center of the hive." foxes filter in and out on a regular basis, and this is where you'll find food stores, supplies, luxuries, etc. personal goods can also be stored here - just make sure to mark or label them so they don't get mixed up with the rest of the Court's storage!

  • Garden Homes: there are a handful of dilapidated buildings and cottages surrounding King's Keep in need of repair, ranging from minor to major. these buildings may be claimed by members of the Court (one per fox, pleaseee), so long as they're willing to tackle and arrange home repairs! foxes may, of course, share their homes with family and friends - there's no limit to the number of occupants.

  • The Woodlands: dense woodland, excluding the Court's main stomping grounds. woodlands are made up of birch, pine, oak, and chestnuts - think of European forests. mostly flat land, though there are a few occasional hills.

  • -NAME- Pond

  • -NAME- Stream

pets i'll probably be tossing into the court, for future ref:
