Atheneite Looked at the ball of energy she had collected so far tonight. She wondered exactly what they were used for. She supposed it didn't really matter, if this chore was necessary to making her stronger than she would do it. Besides it was rather amusing seeing a person collapse after she had drained them enough. Like the poor sap that was currently at her feet, some fool who went for a late night convenience store run. Atheneite dispelled her collected energy back to whatever subspace it went to when she didn't summon it. She reached down and plucked a soda from the man's bag, it wasn't the kind that she preferred but it would still quench her thirst.
As she was enjoying the soda she felt another aura appear, the obnoxious aura of an order fight. It felt like they were around the same level as she was. She hoped the order fighter would be foolish enough to confront her. She was itching for a real fight tonight.
Soon enough the order fighter appear. She was a sparkly little thing, not intimidatingly in the slightest. She reminded her of that little fairy senshi she had fought a long time ago. She continued drinking soda as she offered the woman a bored look daring her to make the first move.

Caer Sidi was doing her best to be more of an active presence in the war. She had hoped to avoid it by staying powered down, but her encounter with the Negaverse Lieutenant who had nearly killed her taught her that not even that was safe. Better to be Caer Sidi, to have even a hope of meeting them on their own terms.
So when she saw the girl with the Negaverse aura astanding over an unconscious man, she felt something cold settle in her chest. Something angry.
"Excuse me," she said, voice frosty, "but what, exactly, do you think you're doing?"

Atheneite smiled at the girl, oh she could tell she was gonna have fun with this one. "Why having a nice refreshing soda, of course." She said in a condescending tone.
She shook the bottle of soda at the girl "You want some?" She offered in a faux sweet voice.
She had definitely found her prey for the evening she just wondered how much of a fight this little doe would give her.

Caer Sidi frowned, crossing her arms. Externally, she was doing her best to keep a haughty cool, but internally she was boiling. How dare this...this giant woman mock her this way?
"No, I do not want some, I don't want your...your disgusting stolen goods! Taken from this poor man that you've so heartlessly hurt! Dud you just drain him? Or did you go so far as to take his starseed? Either way, how dare you?"
She stomped over, getting herself in the Lieutenant's face. "You give him back his energy, or this is going to get messy."

Atheneite frowned, she used her foot to flip the man onto his back. She kneeld down sticking her hand into the man's chest. "Nope still in there." She said giving the little crystal that was the man's soul a squeeze before removing her hand. There was an unspoken threat in her declaration 'for now.'
Atheneite was actually a little impressed when the little sparkle fighter stomped over to her squaring herself before getting in Atheneite's face. This girl was gonna be fun.
"Oh?" She asked raising an eyebrow quizzically. She took one last swig of her soda before she threw the bottle at the girl. "Let's do this then!" She said a feral grin across her face she swung at the girl.

Caer paled slightly, seeing the Lieutenant stick her hand in he poor man's chest. She remembered what that violation felt like herself, and there was a moment of fear, but her anger came rushing back just as quickly.
So she sidestepped the thrown bottle, and the fist, and she heard the bottle crash tot he ground as the punch whizzed by her face. She was small, yes, but light and quick on her feet, thanks to actually getting practice as a Page.
"You disgust me," she said, voice icy. "You and every one of your kind, who harm and exploit people for the gain of your terrible organization." She spun on her heel, swinging her leg for a harsh kick.

"Oh ho! The little girl has claws does she." Atheneite laughed. "Well right back at you sparkles. I can't stomach self righteous little do gooders like you who feel a need to butt into other people's buisness." She said as she took the kick catching the foot as she swung for the girl's face again
"You know nothing about me and you know thing about this man yet you want to act like you have the moral high ground." To be fair she didn't know anything about him either. "He could be be a wife beater or a serial burglar for all you know. Yet here you bound and determined to play hero."
She dropped the girls leg as she summoned her baton swinging at the girl's midsection.

Caer Sidi was very much overwhelmed and she knew it. She knew it the moment the other girl caught her kick. She tried to jerk her leg out of Atheneite's grip, but it didn't really work, just unblanaced her more--which meant that when the baton smacked into her midsection, she went down. Hard.
But something lit inside her. She thought of that vision, of her past self bowed over her desk, sobbing because she'd failed to help someone. She thought of the tower in the middle of a fortress. She thought of the people who must have lived there, the people that would have been Caer Sidi's responsibility.
Jolene Moriarty was not, by nature, a selfless person. Quite the opposite, all things considered. But she thought of this man, and she pushed herself up.
"I don't care," she said, simply, and she brushed her thumb over her signet ring. She felt magic move through her, and she brought her head up to look Atheneite in the face. "I don't care how awful he is. He doesn't deserve what you're doing to him."
She thought, again, of the tower and the fortress, and something boiled over in her chest.
"I swear, as the Knight of Caer Sidi, that I will not lay down and let harm come to any innocent person while I can protect them. From this moment on, I will stand for those weaker than I, and be their shield against the darkness."
Somewhere in the depths of her Wonder, the Code must have been pleased by this--because as she swung her right fist for Atheneite's face, backed by the Aspect of Cosmos, a symbol drew itself in silver on the back of her hand. A five-pointed star, drawn in a Celtic knot, and encircled. The symbol of Caer Sidi.
The symbol of her Oath.

Atheneite stood over the sparkly knight. She sneered at the girl, she hated people like her. So self righteous but not able to back up any of her words. She was about ready to end the girl, a quick snatch of starseed would ensure this sparkly little upstart wouldn't get back up. But then the girl struggled to her feet.
She was talking more nonsense, but weirdly enough her words seemed to carry more weight. The girl began to glow as if she was covered in starlight itself. Atheneite grit her teeth she had had enough of the girl's pretentiousness She swung her fist at the girl but unfortunately in this instance the knight was faster. Her fist connected true, hitting Atheneite square in the nose and sending her to the floor. The pain of the aspect mixed with the power behind the fist was enough to knock the lieutenant out as blood flowed free from her nose.

Caer Sidi watched the Lieutenant go down, and blinked at her fist, and at the glowing mark on her hand. Oh, that was....something she would have to figure out later. For now, though, she hustled over tot he unconscious man and scooped him up, carrying him away so that when the Lieutenant woke up, he'd definitively be out of danger.
She'd done something very foolish, Caer Sidi realized as she set him on a park bench a few blocks away, but also something very brave.
And that was something to be proud of.
