The black shroud of night enveloped Destiny City in a cacoon of stars and light pollution, the glaw of the city reeaching skywards as the calm post-nine at night brought to the world, as some few cars passed one another in the veins and arteries of transportation that filled the city as if it were a living, breathing thing with cars in place of blood cells and buildings in place of bone and flesh; a calming, soothing atmosphere as Limosa slowly paused atop a building, running patrols alone as her - was Elektra her step mother? - worked and father prepared for school the next morning. Limosa didn't know Elektra well, or if she was even powered, but it was a bit nostalgic to be out alone, with no father in sight analysing everything different from their civilian states.

Genuinely, the break from match was a relief. Limosa could focus on better things, like looking for trouble, or -- maybe - meet others. So far she liked those she met of Order. They were hjelpful and informative, and Limosa was ever grateful for tips. That said...

She did wonder how chaos agents even joined the dark side. Was it lies, false promises, or was it actually cookies like the dumb bumper stickers she sometimes saw? Was it willing or brainwashing? She wondered... So many...

OK, so she was opverthinking tonight. The senshi sighed, and turned to begin walking along,, wondering who -- or what -- might be out there, waiting to be discovered. It was a good night for patrolling, for sure.

Lieutenant Ekanite was on his way to a training session with his General, the greatest person he had ever met, and he was excited to show her the progress he'd made in his time training alone. Sure, he was probably no better at fighting and only knew a few more of the basics about energy gathering and starseeds, but it was still more than he had when he started!

And more than anything else, she would see how hard he was trying.

He hoped.

His path was taking him in the opposite direction of an aura he felt nearby, causing them to get closer to one another. He skidded to a stop when he realized he should have been able to see the source of the aura, before turning his head upwards and seeing a shadow on a roof. Don't get distracted, Painite often told him, but his attention span was just too short to make that kind of a promise.

Who was that up there?

"Hey! Hold on a second!" he called, moving to find a way to climb up the building and finding a less than stable looking gutter. It would have to work. Or it spectacularly wouldn't.

Limosa blinked as a chaos aura drew near, looking around as she moved befopre they called out, and she paused, approaching the edge of the roof and looking down. Oh. Oh! Here was a Chaos person, she didn't...

OK, her familiarity with them was the same as her familiarity with her cousin Al's father -- which was no familiarity at all, and she waved slowly, deciding to approach with friendly caution, to see if she might learn about Chaos instead of fight blindly on the word of a cat. A technologically impaired cat, at that.

"Hello, there!" She called back cheerfully, and trurned, motioning to the fire escape to invite him up. "Nice night tonight, isn't it?" She called warmly. She was going to watch. OPbserve. She was going to. To.

Be careful and learn properly so she knew how to handle this whole war. ...

Well at least she was working on her critical thinking skills.

"Oh, cool!" He saw the fire escape and moved over to it, thinking it was a much better idea than the one he had come up with on his own. This thing was built for people to climb on, after all, though the lock on the stairwell did nothing to keep him from finding other methods of scaling up it. It was still much more sturdy than the pipe, and he got to the roof in one piece.

And in one try, which he doubted he would be able to say on either front if he had climbed that gutter.

"It is a nice night, huh! I was just on my way to do some training. I mean. You know. Stuff. Er. Not that I need much training, because I'm already awesome and uh. Anyway, what are you doing all the way up here?"

He did know some officers and a lot of senshi liked to travel by rooftop, but he also knew he did not have the coordination to master the art of jumping from roof to roof just yet. He would be surprised if this girl did, but then, he had been surprised by lots of different things since joining the Negaverse. It would not be the first time, for sure.

Limosa watched iun curiopusiuty, steppoing back to give him space to stand without feeling cornered, but he was greeted by a smiling face as he arruiuvedm, abnd Limosa nodded politely, perking up. Oh! He even seemed friendly! She liked friendly!

"I was watching out for people causing trouble, and I thought a higher vantage point could help." It was an honest answer, one accompanied by a hum before she tilted her head.

"Training? That can either be fun, or painful." She said, and moptioned. "I mostly train bny watching for problems, breaking up crimes.. Pretty quiet. What kind do you do? Do you need a gym? Dummies?" And her curiousity kicked in again. "Do you have trainers or is it free to your choice?... Sorry if I'm asking a lot. I'm.. Admittedly kind of curious."

Ekanite was, indeed, a very friendly sort. He was young enough to still be naïve, despite all the things he had been through so far. Losing his mother was hard enough, but Painite was taking surprisingly good care of him for someone working on the side of Chaos, with no other practice with family. Maybe she had needed someone to help, to in turn help her feel more whole.

Whatever it was, the two had a bond now, and he was determined to do whatever he could to make her proud.

"That makes sense to me. I'm not really a fan of heights," Ekanite laughed, though he had managed to get to the rooftop without too much trouble. Her questions made him pause, then he grinned.

"Nah, I've got a Boss that helps me train. She's pretty tough, but I think if I can at least get good enough to keep up with her, that'll make me pretty tough. Someone folks should be careful around." And, he hoped, that would mean he would not have to fight rather friendly White Moon folks all that often. If they thought he was too strong, he could get away with just not engaging.

Not that he wanted to tell the White Moon he considered himself a push over. Painite would be furious if he did that.

"You guys don't train with each other? Don't you have a boss, or a general?"

Limosa listened with rapt attention, eager to listen and learn. Though a young adult and generally contentn to work hard, she lacked thje guidance or direction of Ekanite seemed to have, and she found it fascinating. Frustrating -- her encounters with others were rare, and she had met.... One eternal and one -- what WAS Camelot, sahew wondered? = when La Brea awakened, she mostly met lower levelled Ordewr members and the woman tiltewd her head in thought. First though, she didn't want to make Ekanite uncomfortable, and she stepped back toward the center of the roof.

"Well, first, let's step away from the edge. Not looking down might help, or we can go down if you'd feel better. OI really don't mind!" She mostly diudn't want a fight. She wanted a good impression, iff only because that lack of direction from a superior diud let her work with her own moral compass, and not another's. And that itsaelf was freeing, to her.

"Well... I don't think most train with others. I don't." She admitted, and hummed. "I do admit while a bit of guidance can help, I find it does let me look my owl tools for problems. I'm glad to hear you're getting help though. A good teacher can help nurture the skills you want to build." She beamed, not admitting her magic mostly let her run away. Very fast. She didn't really want to admit her magic just... Squirted iunk at people.

Little embarressing.

"Aw, that's nice of you! I'm okay, though. Gotta get used to it, if that's how everyone gets around here! It makes sense, too, because it's much faster than walking on the pavement, and easier to not get spotted. Uh. But I'm sure you already know all that, so I'm not sure why I'm explaining it. Since I'm not the one... doing it. Er. Anyway."

Ekanite shook his head. Painite was going to be so mad that he was just gabbing away with a strange, a white moon one at that, while he was supposed to be at their training session. She hated it when he was late! Though, that did not really change how hard she was on him when they sparred.

She pretty much had no levels. It was off, or it was on. And on was full power, really scary mode. But again, that was something he was hoping was true: if he ever found out she did, in fact, have a scarier side, he would not know what to do with himself.

"Training on your own is pretty tough! I'm impressed that you can do it and you're making progress! I'd never get anywhere, I'm sure. Boss is pretty sure I'm going to hurt myself, which is probably true. Uh. Most White Moon folks want to fight, or at least tell me not to do my job. Is that what you do, to stay sharp?"

"I'm sure you can work out what to do without hurting yourself, in time, though; it takes time to work it out is all." Limosa offered. She paused to consider his words seriously, letting them stick in her mind sao she could answer well.

"Well, yto keep sharop physical;ly, I keep active on patrols. Running, climbing, and the like. Mentally I uh. I like to read at times, but I mostly observe and work out what fits me." Or explain things to others I know." Her fathjer asked so many things, and the man was insatiable for knowledge. Aaah, parents. Especially science oriented ones. "As for fighting and all that, I don't feel I can make an educated approach without knowing more about who people think I should be in conflict with. I... Don't laugh -- but I don't want to proceed to wantoiinly challenge anyone, or say what they should do blindly. Not to mention it feeds into more mindless conflict without opportubnity for potential resolution.... If people even want a resolution... What I'm saying is I'd rather approach things knowing what's going on, and since nobody has the good sense to explain well to me, I have no reason to cause problems. Unless yoiu break the law. I do kind of go for monsters or people who break the law." And boy was terrifying would-be criminals a blast!

Ekanite nodded his head. He was always interested in tips from others, even if they did not match his exact training style. After all, there was always room for improvement in whatever he was doing, and sometimes learning new ways of doing common things was the way to edge out the competition. Plus, it just never hurt to have more general knowledge about things.

If he could only pick up common sense as easily.

"Reading is fun! And there's always a need for information, right? No matter what side of the field you're fighting on. As long as you're able to keep yourself safe, I guess that's what's important. Being a sitting duck is probably not the best." He chuckled, though he could tell she was serious and he tempered himself a bit. He could be a little too lax about things, but it was really just a defense mechanism. If he didn't try to enjoy what he had, and laugh when he could, he was not sure what he would be doing.

And that worried him.

"That does sound fun. Hey, I wonder if I could do that, when I'm draining energy? I mean, like. I know it's bad and you guys don't like it, but if I go after uh.. bad guys. Criminals and stuff. That's sort of helping?"

He liked reading?... Well then she was good. Even if it was comics, readiung anything expanded one's views and Limosa smiled, relaxing, then she giggled at his sitting duck comment.

"I mean some people ought to be sitting ducks. The slime of society, and all." She fell into more peals of giggles before she listened.

She... Did not understanmd the gathering energy 'thing' herself. Calling it bad was probably accurate, but Limosa seemed curious, and then hummerd.

"I mean, taking out crooks aNd bad people with it sounds like a good idea. I use then to practice fighting, so dumping unconcious criminals with a note pinned to their shirts for the police might be a good thing." She paused, then tilted her head. "I... OK, hear me out --- I got told it was bad that draining happened but why do your folks even drain energy? I admit to some really weird levels of curiousity but.... Well, I am. I haven't met many chaos agents so I don't know why they drain. No context." Really, hjer awakening felt almost useless!

Ekanite nodded his head, looking very interested in serving both sides of the coin while doing his duties. After all, if he fulfilled his quota, they would not really care where he got the energy from. If he chose his targets carefully, or just when they were in the process of doing something bad, then that would just be a bonus for the whole city. Of course, he doubted he could find that many criminals regularly, but it would be a small help.

And a bit of a dent in the karmic hole he knew he was digging for himself. If he believed in such things. Which he might.

"Okay, I'm listening," He said, snapping out of his daze as she called his attention to her thoughts. He frowned at the question, shaking his head. "I guess I don't really know why we do it. Boss just said to do it, and that she would explain everything later. She says its better to not ask questions."

He always assumed it was because she did not want him bothering her with stupid things, but he also got the feeling she was just protecting him. From what? He had no idea. But he was mostly thankful for it, as whatever it was, it was probably pretty bad.

Limosa listened, giving him her full attention as she allowed him to explain his end, before nodding, motioning.

"I know the feeling. I just got told 'enter fight with this' without a good history. I think they tried... It was hective." She sighed thoughtfully, blinking. "How do you.. learn without asking questions?... Admittedly I ask too many questions, so I hope I'm not being too nosey. I do apologize if I am."

Really, he nosiness was from her father, she sispected, and the woman accepted it. It served her well. Still... She hoped Ekanite was okay. He seemed nice enough -- she didn't relish tyhe idea of the man being harmed.

Ekanite looked baffled by that thought.

"I guess I do ask questions, but not the right ones. I'll ask more when I see her. Which should have been a while ago, and now I'm really late. Uh. But I'll ask and see what she says, okay? It's not nosey, it's just curious! And now I am, too. I always thought being curious made things fun."

He grinned brightly, still innocent to believe that questions would not lead to trouble for one of them. He was not sure of the value of information, or the idea that questions from the wrong side could prove to be dangerous to himself or to those he cared about. His Boss, for one, though she was not thinking of protecting herself in any of the steps she took with him. She kept him guarded for his own sake, as far as she was concerned, knowing his innocence was both his strongest feature and his biggest weakness.

"I should head out, though. Maybe the next time we meet up, I'll be able to answer some things for you a bit better."

"I like to know things too. It's fun to-- oh no did I make you late?!" Limosa rather liked talking to Ekanite. Thjey were still different in ways, but he was pleasant and cheerful and non-judgemental, and on top of that, he didn't attack her, which helped a good deal. He also just seemed like a genuinely good person, which.. Made sense, really. Not everyone in a faction was going to be the same. Some? Terrible people, even Order Senshi, whom might be terrible people. Others might genuinely try to use their faction to do good. And besides, Limosa wasn't sure the war was so easily solved as to say whom was good and whom wasn't.

That was never going to be so universal. It was food for thought, as well, though.

"Oj, I definately look forward to meeting again! I've really enjoyed talking to you! I just apologize again for causing you to run late. I would've asked less if I thought.. Gosh, I'm so sorry. So.. Want to meet here again to talk sometime?"
