It was a nice night. Amazonite took advantage of nice nights when she could; she'd had several genuinely crappy ones recently, and she wasn't eager to have another. She'd taken a seat on a pretty brick wall surrounding a pretty little public garden, and she kicked her feet lightly, trying to pretend she didn't feel the bright, glowing aura of a Transcended Knight.
As she sat, she fiddled with the glowing crystal around her wrist. She'd had it since she corrupted, and she sort of wished she remembered why--whatever it was, it had clearly been important to her in the....the vast, empty Before she so rarely thought about.

Hyperborea's patrol lead her to cute little public garden area of the city. She had felt the aura of a captain near by and had decided follow it to it's source. The aura had felt vaguely familiar but even with the power of her Crown of Stars she wasn't able to place the owner of the aura.
As the captain in question came into view Hyperborea stopped dead in her tracks. The woman had certainly changed but Hyperborea would recognize her any where. The first Knight she had seen, the woman who had been with her for her awakening. She knew the book the woman carried at her hip. She knew the glowing crystal at her wrist, a crystal made by Hyperborea's own hands. "You...You're Mímisbrunnr, aren't you." Her mouth felt dry.
She hadn't from the woman in years it was true, but she thought that like of alot of her old friends she had just moved away or decided to give on the powered life. She had never in all of her nightmares imagined this. When had this happened? Why had this happened? Who was responsible? These thoughts raged through the young knight's mind as she gripped her staff harder, her nails digging into the flesh of her palm. She was shaking, with rage or with sadness she wasn't sure. "How did you corrupt?"

Amazonite blinked, and turned. She narrowed her eyes, thoughtfully, regarding the Knight with puzzlement and consideration. She pulled her mask down, as if that would help her figure it out.
"I was, yeah," she said, "not that I remember much of it. Sorry. Did we know each other?" They must have. Stupid question, Amazonite. Still, it had come out without her thinking about it, which Amazonite found a little uncomfortable.
"I, uh. I don't really remember much about it, but I know it was General-King Axinite," she kicked her feet briefly, "and Fangite? But he's gone, now, over on your side. He always acted so guilty about it, which I don't get, I'm perfectly happy right here." She shrugged her shoulders, and then perked up, holding up the wrist that had the crystal's chain wrapped around it. "Do you know what this is? I've had it since I corrupted and I've never been able to figure it out, but it seemed important, so I kept it."

"Yes we were friends." She said socked to hear the words of the older woman. "You were there with me at the beginning, when I first awoke. You taught me what it meant to be a knight."
"They messed with your mind some how." and for that Hyperborea would make this general king pay, she didn't care how long it took she would see him burn for the transgression. " Please come with me I know someone who can heal you, who can help you return to who you were." She pleaded.
The captain's question caught her a bit off guard. "Yeah I should, I made it. It's called a Hope Pendant. I made it so you'd always have light, even in the darkest places." in that respect she supposed it was apt that the woman had it now, a glimmer of hope even if she didn't remember.

Amazonite tilted her head to the side, frowning faintly. It was a puzzled sort of frown, like she really just could not comprehend what Hyperborea was saying or why she would suggest what she was suggesting.
"I mean, thank you? It has been a nice light in the dark, sometimes, when I'm alone in my office, so it's doing its job that way, but..." She gave Hyperborea a deeply puzzled look. "Why would I ever want to go back? I'm happy in the Negaverse, I have my research work and so much else, I don't need to be fixed." Her expression turned into a frown.
"I don't remember who I was and I don't want to be her again. I'm Amazonite now."

"Please you don't mean that. Chaos poisons the mind, I've seen it happen. I know think that now but it's just because you don't remember." Hyperborea was desprate. She couldn't lose Mímisbrunnr too, not after everyone else she had lost.
"Please come with me Mímisbrunnr." She pleaded as she reach for the captain's hand.

"My name," the Captain growled, slapping away the Knight's extended hand and calling her deer horn knives, "is Amazonite."
She dropped off the brick wall, slashing out with her knives at Hyperborea's face.
Did Amazonite know, intellectually, that this was not a fight she could win? Absolutely. Hyperborea outleveled her, and she glowed, which meant that the great equalizer--a starseed pull--was out of her reach.
Did she care? Absolutely not. Not with this Knight insisting that she needed to be saved, to be brought back tot he light or whatever else. Had anyone on her side even cared that she was gone?
Amazonite was willing to bet the answer was no.

Hyperborea felt her heart beak as her hand was slapped away. She felt a sting as the antler shaped knife slashed her across the cheek. Blood dripped from the gash as she lifted a hand to feel the wound. She looked at the blood left on her fingers before looking back at the woman she had once called a friend. She took a breath steadying herself.
"Ok I can see talking to you right now won't do any good." She lifted her staff as the star shaped tip glowed sliver. In a second the whole area was filled with blinding silver starlight. "But I won't give up on you Mímisbrunnr. Even if you don't remember I'll come back for you someday." She said to the now blind captain before she turned to leave.
She summoned Cerynitis, before riding off into the night dispelling her spell once she was out of sight. When she was deep into a wood area of the park where she was sure no one was around, Hyperborea broke down into bitter tears.

Amazonite yelped at the burst of bright light, directly in her face, and she cringed back and away from it. There wasn't anything she could do to stop the Knight leaving, not that she much expected to be able to--this would have just ended in her battered and humiliated, no matter what she did.
So, she hissed tensely, waiting for her vision to come back.
"I'll come back for you someday," she mocked under her breath. Like she was a child that needed rescuing! Ridiculous.
She stormed off into the night. There was havoc to be caused, if she put her mind to it, and she was ready to put her mind to it.
