Agroska

The floating islands that Agroska has been built on have existed in stories for long before there were any settlers willing to live upon their otherworldly flats. It is one of the few places in this world where magic had never left, gathered within the bases of these hovering masses of earth and stone. It is believed that the One God has blessed this land, and his presence is felt so powerfully that it holds the islands afloat and fertilizes their plentiful soils. The Zealots of God and the Blind Faith, however, both bitterly deny this claim. The Agrosian people are trained from birth to protect their holyland, taking part in martial arts classes from very young ages. These classes are carried on into adulthood, though it is at that point a citizen chooses to continue as a warrior or seek another trade in life. However, by this time, all citizens will be quite capable martially. It is a sovereign nation, mostly uninfluenced from the outside world, and they refuse to trade with other cities. They are second to none in martial knowledge, and they are known for their ability to heal and cleanse the body and mind. The land beneath the city is in perpetual cloud cover, and there has never been an adventurer to scale the sheer walls of the cliffs that lead down beneath the clouds and return with tales of what lies beneath. Perhaps nothing.

Agroska is welcoming of outsiders, but if anyone causes trouble within their walls, they will be quickly removed from the city. Depending on the severity of the trouble caused, one might find themselves leaving over the edge of the city itself, instead of across its bridges. The guards are posted all around the city, and it is very well protected. All of those who choose to be warriors of Agroska will either be posted within the city, or hired to protect small villages that exist in the wilds. This is one of the few ways Agroska makes its income, apart from its fresh produce. Some of the islands have been tilled over the years so that there are entire floating farms out and around the city, as well as the main city where most of the housing and commerce takes place between the Agrosian people. There is no true leader of the city, as it is a very self-sufficient place. However, because the Priests of Agroska are the ones who train the children and house the guards, the High Priest is looked at as the Protector of the City, and it's essential ruler.

Agroska sits on the Kandari Wastes. It is a barren portion of the Bastian continent, though it is the largest territory of all three major nations. Many small villages still exist across the nation, though there are not enough major water sources to fuel the growth of sprawling cities or agriculture enough to sustain them. There are, however, a couple of major city states that rival Agroska, though few. These two other cities are both located near the only two large lakes in the Wastes, and this has allowed them steady growth in both infrastructure and population. Agroska, however, relies on the rains that sustain its people, and as such cannot allow population growth to exceetd their ability to survive. Some people even believe a change is needed, though it is difficult to stand up to anything the Priests have decided for the city. Considering how far they have gotten them, and mostly with zero violence, it is hard to deny their leadership.
