Fears are meant to be overcome, but often are hard to do so. What are the fears that plague your character at night? How long have they dealt with these fears, and where did they originate from? How do they deal with their fears, and how does it impact their life and relationships? And will they ever work to overcome it?
[ Spend this World Event working through the fears of your character, either on their own or with some moral support of a friend ]
Nightmares were less strangers to Pyrrha than begrudging companions.
Many a night since her daughters had bloomed she found herself lying awake and gazing out the window at the stars above. When the jeweled moon gave it’s glow she felt the most at peace, but even then visions of the past tormented her. Madness was at its peak in those early years, and try as she might Pyrrha could no more put it behind her than she could forgive the horrible creature who raised her.
A desperation had been born the moment Pyanka and Enya were placed in her arms. A fear that settled deep inside of her bones that Kanika, try as she might, just couldn’t understand. She may have had difficulties with her mothers, but this was....uniquely personal to Pyrrha. How many nights had she pulled at her dreads when she couldn’t come to terms with herself? What if her daughters grew to hate her, just as Kou did, or worse? Thought her worthless? Of course she knew that wouldn’t happen; logic told her as much. This place...was so much different than Zinris that it gave her hope beyond hope. She knew that if there was anywhere in the world that could give her the family that she craved it would be here.
And yet...she still fell into old patterns.
As many good days as Pyrrha had there was always the one bad moment that stained her. At one point when Enya had gone to see the river, even though she’d been told no time and time again, Pyrrha snapped. She raised her voice to the child, possibly the first time in Enya’s entire life, and scared the girl.
“The current is too strong! If the rains take you away how do you think that would make us feel?!”
Pyrrha wasn’t sure who ended up crying more that night; her daughter or herself.
Letting go of Kou was the biggest huddle in Pyrrha’s search for happiness. It was the last achievement standing between her and the life she’d always craved. Having daughters herself should have been marked with endless joy, but that woman’s memory gave Pyrrha so much doubt...What if she failed them? What if she couldn’t protect them when they needed it most? What if-?
The wayward Elaria padded away from her lover’s bed and towards her sleeping daughters. It was easy to forget how quickly they were growing when they weren’t bouncing off the walls, and for just a moment Pyrrha could stop time. Here it stretched out endlessly, with no demons or harsh words, just pure love. And that...was what she wanted, right?
Her daughters were happy. She and Pruu had grown up as happy as they could be, given the circumstances, but now she had a chance to make things better. Kanika’s family had provided a great well of strength and the woman herself was showing such a positive role model to their daughters that Pyrrha was oftentimes left speechless. Kanika was the kind of mother Pyrrha wanted to be; the kind that made her daughter’s excited to see her when she returned from a long trip. Everytime her girls looked up at her with love in their eyes those demons faded just a little bit more…
It would take time, but that was something she had plenty of. Pyrrha knew there would always be a part of her that would fear the blade in the dark, but she could make steps to keep that fear from controlling every aspect of her life. She was already learning that just because she raised her voice didn’t mean she was being abusive, nor that speaking her mind was something bad. There was a fine line between being a good disciplinarian and something her daughters would fear, but Pyrrha was determined to walk that fine line.
Someday soon Pyanka and Enya wouldn’t need her to hold their hand. They would be running off into the wilds on their own, possibly with weapons and aspirations of their own. All Pyrrha wanted to do was make sure they knew home was always a safe place to come back to and maybe, just maybe, one day they would want to come back.
And who knew? She might not even be ready to see Zinris again, but surprising Pruu on Yael would be grand...The look of shock on her twin’s face might be worth the anxiety of returning ‘home’. And, it would bring her closer to her nieces as well.
