It was a lovely night. Marialite had dropped herself into a seat, casually leaning back on the edge of a pretty fountain in some fancy botanical garden, and listening to its water splash behind her. There was something comforting about this--it wasn't the little garden she and Caer and Salem maintained at home, but it was still nice, and still left her feeling safe and at home.
Not that she was really ever safe, on her own in Destiny City, but this was as close as it got.
She could feel a Page's aura nearby, but she didn't sir, merely waiting to see if they came closer.

Keeping people around was growing more and more difficult, and honestly...Dinara was just…tired. She had Tochi, but they were both busy, and despite how hard she tried...she couldn’t keep up with all of the idol things. She wanted to! Of course she wanted too, but there were just so many names to remember…
If she had been smart, she would have been out patrolling with her friend and fellow page, but…
Nobody had ever said that Dinara was smart. Nobody.
There was a prickle of someone else nearby, and for a moment the page hesitated, hope rising within her. It felt like Kanan did...maybe…
She broke into a run, following the feeling, hope in her eyes, but when she saw the very pretty girl who was emitting the aura, she sighed, blowing out a breath. “Oh. You’re not. Who I thought...sorry to bother you.”

Marialite blinked at the Page, and gave her a smile and a little wave. "It's not a bother! I might not be who you're looking for, but if you were looking for a Lieutenant, I bet you'd be willing to sit down and chat, right?"
Marialite was pretty sure that was fair, at least. And maybe she'd get to know this pretty Cosmos Page, which would be fun, and to everyone's potential benefit...especially her own. Having more people on the other side who liked her might just work out well in the long run.
"I'm Lt. Marialite. You're a Cosmos Page, right? I used to be one, too. Back then, my name was Eleusis."

Dinara froze at the words and frowned slightly. “...no, I um. I was looking for a Jedi Trainee...um. His name is Kanan and he...ah. Nevermind...but...how? How did...you were like me?”
There was frank curiosity in her voice and she moved a little closer. “...Do you know Kanan? Or um...my other friends? I haven’t seen Kanan...in way to long...Tanzanite either...I...I miss them. Do you know Lillith? She’s my friend too.”
She had never met...anyone called a lieutenant though, that was interesting. “Lillith told me that she was part of a group that...was really cool. Is that...where you’re from too?” Dinara finally crossed the rest of the distance between them and sat down on the nearest bench, patting the space next to her. “I’m Dinara. It’s nice to meet you.”

"A Jedi...Trainee," Marialite tried not to sound skeptical--she didn't want to put out the Page--but she was definitely confused, for a moment, before she soothed her expression and tilted her head to the side. "None of those names sound familiar off the bat, but I definitely don't know everyone in my organization, and Tanzanite sounds like she might just be one of us! Did your friend Lilith tell you who she worked for?"
Marialite got up and moved, sitting on the bench next to the other girl, and primly crossed one leg over the other, looking thoughtful. "I am part of a pretty cool group--oh!" It hit her, like a shock. "Your friend Lilith--does she have really, really long hair, and holes in her forehead and chest? Because if she does, we definitely work for the same people." Marliate had seen Corrupt Senshi--never really interacted with one, but they were certainly around, and they were very, very recognizable. "Lilith" didn't sound like an officer's name, but it could totally be a Senshi's.

Dinara nodded. “Yeah! She had really pretty hair, it was green and lovely. And she played with mine too. It was nice. I made her a bow but...I haven’t gotten a chance to see her again.” She sighed. “You have beautiful hair too! It’s nice to see people with unreasonably long hair...it makes me feel less alone.”
She gave a little grin. “So um...Tell me about yourself? And yeah...Kanan is a Jedi Trainee. I promise that’s what he is. He...we were really good friends. But. I guess he got busy. You feel like he does so I just...assumed. But.” The grin faded slightly. “I mean...I don’t think he was lying to me. That would be a silly thing to lie about, don’t you think?”
Dinara hoped so, at least. “...You really...aren’t one yourself? You look like you could be one, you know.”

"Oh, perfect! She probably is one of ours, then," Marialite said. "I'm sorry you haven't seen her for a while--hopefully you're able to find each other again." This sweet, enthusiastic little thing...she reminded Marialite of how she herself had been, back when she'd first started out as a Page. Back when she'd thought everything was special and magical, before...whatever happened that had left her feeling so miserable.
It was too bad she couldn't remember her civilian life, she thought, because the answers were probably there. Alas. She'd given all that up for this.
"If he says he's a Jedi Trainee...I mean, yeah, that would be a really weird thing to lie about," she agreed. She wondered who this "Kanan" was--that couldn't be his real name, but she couldn't imagine who he could actually be. "Anyway, like I said, I'm a Lieutenant in the Negaverse, and I used to be a Cosmos Page. I guess I might be like your Jedi friend? Maybe that's just a secret I haven't been let in on yet." She winked, playfully. "Who knows--there's a lot I don't know about."

Dinara couldn’t help but smile at the other woman’s enthusiasm and nodded eagerly. “That’s really cool! You...You were a Cosmos Page? But how did you...how did that happen? What happened that made you want to be what you are now?”
Her head tilted to the side and after a moment, Dinara shook her head. “Unless that’s a rude question in which case please forgive me! I’m just curious!” And she was. This wasn’t something that she had heard about before...and if she had...well, she simply didn’t remember it, so obviously it didn’t count.
“Are...you happy?” She seemed happy, which was nice. Everyone should be happy.

Marialite sighed, and crossed one leg over the other, and leaned her elbow on her thigh, dropping her chin into her hand. The enthusiasm didn't entirely melt away, but talking about her past...it hurt. Still, she'd opened herself up to the question, and maybe this particular sunshine Cosmos Page might understand why she'd made that choice.
"No, it's not rude! I actually like talking about it, because I mean...anyone can make this decision, you know? You just have to find someone to help you do it." Her smile slowly lit back up. "See, when I was a Page, I...at first, I really liekd it? It was all sparkles and magic and joy, y'know? But then...I'm not entirely sure what went bad? I think it had to do with who I was out of uniform, and I forgot all that, when I changed sides." She tapped the side of her head and sighed. "Because I felt so sad, and miserable, and alone. But there were these two officers, Galaxite and Caledonite? And they were so sweet to me--well, as sweet as Cale gets, he's kind of a grump--and they helped me figure things out, and we worked together to get General-Queen Hessonite to corrupt me. She's really cool, and she was really great while it was happening!" She sat up, and beamed.
"And yeah, I'm a lot happier now. I have Cale and Gala, and they're....great," she ducked her head, "and the Negaverse is just....better, you know? I feel like I know who I am now, even if I forgot who I used to be."

Dinara listened and her brows furrowed and she nodded, taken in by the story. “...So...you forgot who you were? Your...life before? Don’t you...don’t you miss it though? Doesn’t...it feel empty? I would think it would feel empty…”
Honestly, she wasn’t sure that she could handle that. Forgetting something...forgetting who she was?
Her eyes were on the other girl and she hesitated. “...Who is General-Queen Hessonite? What...what was it like...to be corrupted? It sounds...like that’s not a good thing...like, isn’t corruption something that’s bad? That leaves you sick?” And something that makes you forget who you were. Or...forget parts of who you were...she wasn’t quite sure.
Regardless...it sounded...kind of scary.

Marialite paused, briefly, thinking about what Dinara was saying. Did she miss her old life? Did she feel empty?
"It doesn't, not really. But I think it helps that I've filled my new life with so many things? Like, I have two partners, and we have a garden, and I'm going to school, and...I mean, I've made a brand new life for myself. The person I used to be doesn't exist anymore, but I also don't remember her, and it's hard to miss what it feels like I never had, y'know?" She shrugged her shoulders, but she was still smiling.
"Anyway, so. The Negaverse has leaders, right? They're called General-Sovereigns, and Hessonite is one of them. She was really cool about corrupting me--and I know corruption sounds bad, or whatever, but that's just what they call it, you know? For all I know, the name is propaganda that stuck. This whole war has been going on for like a thousand years, I bet stuff's gotten muddled." She shrugged her shoulders. "It hurt, but only for a little bit, and when it was over, I was all different. And it doesn't still hurt or anything. It's just...you know, I'm this, now."
She blinked over at Dinara, tilting her head to the side. "All the names are really dark and scary, I know. But I promise, it's not like that, and it's not like I'm hurting or sick all the time or anything like that."

Dinara watched her for a long moment, chewing on her lip and then nodding slowly. “And you’re really happy? You have two partners? That...That’s a lot, don’t you think? How does that work?” That as a stupid thing to be stuck on but…
It was an interesting thing to hear..and it was the thing that sounded the least scary…
“How...badly did it hurt? What...what did it feel like?” God, why did she keep asking questions? Though...Marialite kept answering them so...it couldn’t be so bad. “What did she do? How...how did she corrupt you? How...does that even...Like. I don’t want to! I just...I’m...curious. And I’m glad you’re not hurting...or sick…”

"Oh, it's not that complicated!" Marialite smiled, fondly. "And yes, they both make me really happy. But it's like any relationship, you know? We talk and we figure things out together, and the nice thing is that if someone's having a hard day, or needs a break, they've got two people to lean on instead of just one! So it's really nice, that way."
The other qwuestions, though, those were a bit harder. If only because Marialite didn't want to scare poor Dinara off, not when she was clearly intrigued enough to ask.
"It hurt a lot, I'm not gonna lie." She sighed. "But here, I don't need to explain. I can show you." Gently, she rested a hand on Dinara's chest. "I promise, it's just a moment."
Then, with a soft smile, she reached in, and wrapped her hand around Dinara's starseed. "You see, it was like this. She reached in, and then she pushed Chaos into my starseed," she squeezed, to simulate the feeling, "and it hurt for a little while, but then it was all over." She let go, and withdrew her hand. "Not so bad, once it's all done!"

Dinara nodded slowly, and paused when Marialite’s hand rested on her chest...and then pushed in.
Just like Kanon had.
Her heart began to race suddenly and for a moment, she couldn’t even focus on the pain, not the physical pain, but...what if she ran off now too? And she never saw this new friend again...was this...just how all things were going to end up?
Tears began to well in Dinara’s eyes and when the hand was withdrawn she got up, taking a few steps back. “...It didn’t hurt...I...I have to go though I...I have to go...I’m sorry…”
Marialite wasn’t the one running away this time…Dinara was going to be the coward or...or whatever.
It had hurt...but not so badly in the way she was afraid of...but it had made all of her loneliness so much more apparent.
She ran then, disappearing into the darkness of the night, powering down when she could no longer feel the other presence.
When Charlotte got home, she pressed her face into her pillow and cried.
