There are many superstitions and beliefs in Tendaji, often originating from the culture and gods of each individual region. Wherever one goes, they might find a new routine or practice based on the region they are in. However, there seems to be one thing that all Tendaji residents believe in - the power and beauty of a meteor shower.

The rare celestial event is seen as a blessing, and this one just so happens to have appeared right when the New Year began. Oh what luck and what a great omen - this must be a sign of good fortune for the year to come.

[ How does your character react to the meteor shower that is lighting up the sky? How do they see this omen impacting their life and year to come? Explore the thoughts and experience either alone or with a friend. ]

It had taken a while for her to find something she thought suitable and up to her standards but eventually Nykinae found a shirt to replace the one she'd ruined. After paying for it she waited politely for it to be wrapped up. As she passed a girl snickering at Siel's inky appearance she purposefully bumped into her with her shoulder. The girl got a side glare but Kina didn't pause to apologize.

As the sky darkened she walked over to Siel and held out the package the shirt was in. "Here, put this on so you're not so embarrassing." She wouldn't actually look at him as she spoke, keeping her eyes to the side instead. "I can't do anything about your hair unless you want to wear a tacky hat. And if you say yes to that I will hit you." It was as close to an apology as he was going to get.

Standing around, covered in ink, was far from pleasant. Once it had started to dry the fabric hardened, making it uncomfortable against his skin. The ink in his hair...Well, he was trying his best to rinse it out in a rainwater bucket while Kina set about...whatever it was she was doing and of course he'd garnered unwanted attention. It wasn't hard to do as a hybrid, anyway, but this...He couldn't help feeling a little put down over it. Great, just something else for them to pick at.

When next he looked up he saw Kina 'taking care' of the situation and let out a breathless laugh. "Aww, looking out for me?" Still crouched, the wrung his hair out into the bucket before standing up at his full height. Most of the ink washed out, but there were still a few strands that held onto the color, stubbornly refuses to rinse out. He was working the tie back into it when she handed him the package and Siel couldn't help looking skeptical. The teen might have actually said something if it wasn't for the way she was acting. It just...It was actually kind of endearing.

"Thanks." Siel took the package and opened it, happy to actually find a real top instead of a noose or a keldari. He slipped out of his stained top, and shimmied into the new one.

Her eyes rolled at his comment but he wasn't too far off the mark there. No one was allowed to put Siel down but her. Not that she said that to him. Instead she opened her mouth to say something but he thanked her for the shirt then started to change. When she saw this she turned her head almost instantly, a warm feeling reaching her cheeks. It wasn't like she hadn't seen a shirtless guy before but she still hadn't expected him to change right there.

Kina cleared her throat then peeked at him to make sure he had the shirt on before fully looking at him. She looked at his hair for a second before she took a breath and huffed. "You are hopeless. Come here." Without thinking she grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him down so that she could reach his hair easier. Nykinae had her fingers halfway into his hair when she noticed the shooting stars going over them. "Amazing.." With her hand paused she stood there staring up at the sky. "Whoa.."

It was getting pretty late, so after settling his affairs Siel had planned on making his way back 'home'. He'd been gone pretty much all day and at some point his fathers would start looking for him. Trust was still something he hadn't quite earned yet, at least in the way most teenagers had it. He tended to stir up too much trouble for that.

Things changed, however, when Kina tugged him down and started to fix his hair. Why was she-? Is she...? Is she sick? Why else would she be this nice to him, especially after going out of her way to buy him a new top? Her sudden comments made him tense up out of embarrassment and Siel hurriedly spoke up, "Yeah, I know the scar is pretty deep, but it was my sister's fault, so don't look too into it- Oh" Looking up, he noticed what what she was actually looking at and gave a low whistle. "That's amazing."

She started to smile but stopped when she heard Siel mention a scar. Kina blinked and made a confused face. "Scar..? What scar?" That brought the hybrid teen's attention back to Siel. She looked at him, meeting his gaze from a mere few inches away since he was looking up, and lifted a brow at him with some curiosity. She kept eye contact for a bit before she looked at his hair again, this time forcing him to tilt his head so she could see this scar.

"You said not to look into it and now I want to. What happened to you? I can't have a weak little worshipper." Her touch got gentler though. The hand that was in his hair seemed to be more mindful, easing through any tangles to avoid hurting him. Her touch was skilled when it came to taking care of and styling hair for others. She did it for her own siblings. "You better not have scars everywhere else. Or other injuries. As my little worshipper you are mine. Only I can mark you." Despite her words her tone was still soft. Kina was being nice. In an odd way though.

"It's nothing bi- Hey!" Instead of getting to look at the sky, like he wanted Siel's attention was being pulled down to the ground as she manipulated his head. Rolling his eyes, the teen knew she wouldn't stop until he gave in so he reached up to fumble around his hair. It didn't take long for the teen to pull apart silver strands to show a thick, gnarled ridge of flesh that happened to coincide with his natural part. Or at least, it was natural now after years of purposefully parting it there. "My sister and I were playing 'funeral'. She was supposed to put a headstone next to me and she got too close." He remembered the panic of seeing blood on his hands far more than any pain. Of course, as a child, he had no idea that head wounds bled over the smallest of scratches so he'd been sure he was dying.

Thankfully that wasn't the case.

"That's the biggest one I've got so you don't have to worry about me." Still, he couldn't help turning to look at her and give a sort of teasing smile. She was being awfully nice for once and despite calling him her 'worshipper' he couldn't help grinning. "I'm a lot tougher than I look."

The thought to smack his hands away had occurred to her but when she noticed he was showing her the scar she didn't. Kina gently ran her fingertips over the line then gave a dramatic sigh. "This would explain your poor judgement sometimes." The young teen shook her head but then went back to fixing what she could of his hair. "And who plays 'funeral'? 'House' or 'wedding' I could understand but..."

The rainwater bucket was used again as she gently worked the ink out as best as she could. Her touch was still light and she didn't stop him from looking at the shooting stars. Nykinae saw them reflected in the water and smiled. "Would be my horrible luck to see sonething so beautiful with the person who annoys me most." She started to wring the excess from his hair then, pleased that very little of the ink remained.

My poor..? Siel frowned, feeling flustered when it didn't occur to him right away what she was insinuating. The knowledge that she probably wasn't wrong only made it worse. After all, it wasn't like that was the only head wound he'd obtained over the course of his life and likely wouldn't be the last. "Who wants to play house? That sounds so boring. Funeral is so much better. It's so much more dramatic and house is just cleaning up the wagon, patching clothes and chores."

With her diligent hands working out the ink, Siel had little choice but to settle in. He made himself as comfortable as he could in his crouched position, angling his head just enough to be able to see the stars again. "Yeah, it kind of sucks, you know? Because my Papa says if you see shooting stars with someone then you're fated to be tied together for all of eternity, even in your next life. Forever and ever, like a big chain."

Occasionally she glanced at his face to make sure she wasn't hurting him, a habit since she did her siblings' hair. "Yes, let's lay down and play dead like a zanteer trick." Kina rolled her eyes and ran her fingers through his hair to get any tangles out. "Can I train you for other tricks then?" She looked at him with a smug little look before she chuckled.

She had just started to plait his hair when she heard him mention what his papa said about the shooting stars. Kina stopped midway and stared at him. "Did you just curse me? I don't suggest using that line on a girl you like either." Not one to leave a hairstyle undone she finished up and tied the end for Siel. "There.. Not all the ink is out but most of it is. The plait hides the rest. And you look so much better dressed like this... Well, except for the pants but I'm not buying you those."

Siel made a little 'hmm' as her fingers ran through his hair. As strange as the whole situation was there was just something about having his hair messed with that calmed him. "Nah, you got the dumb worshipper. Lucky you." Siel snorted. "If you wanted a smart one you should have taken my brother or my sister. They're not as charming as I am, though." Morain would be competition for looks, so she wouldn't like him as much and Lutana....Lutana would hex her. No doubt about it.

"Oh, it's not a curse, it's fact." He looked back at her with large, serious eyes. "Which makes it so much worse than a curse." At some point in his life he was going to run into her again and again, which meant he was worse off than anything Lutana could do to him.

Still, he had to admit that she'd done a pretty good job on his hair. Siel pulled the plait up into one hand and made an appreciative little 'hmm'. "I'm sorry, what was that? You don't like the way I dress?"

"Well at least you admit it." She shrugged her shoulders slightly then gave him a small shove. "I'll keep that on mind. Maybe your brother is more attractive." If he was then Nykinae was gonna have to keep Siel and his whole family away from hers. Siel was good looking. If only he had better manners and didn't annoy her by breathing then she might consider...

"Fact? Well then its time I moved away." She jested with a smile. If she wasn't in Matori then she wouldn't run into him again.

When he pretended to have not heard her she batted year lashes at him and smiled as sweetly as possible. "Hm? No little worshipper, I don't. You look better in different colors."

"He definitely is, just not in the way you'd think." Siel couldn't help laughing. Morain's good looks put most women to shame and his siren of a brother still had a lot of growing to do!

"Oh no no no, I don't think so. If anyone's moving away that'll be me, thank you very much. My family is nomadic, anyway; we'll be leaving here soon enough and you won't have to worry about seeing me for a long time." If she moved then they might run into each other in Jauhar, Tale, Oba; even Belrea! Who could say?! At least it might keep things interesting, though...

"Alright then, I'll bite; what colors do you think I would look best in, my goddess?"

"Oh hell, should I hide my siblings?" She lifted a brow curiously.

When he said it would be him that moved she smiled at him and reached up to poke him on the tip of his nose. "Such a self sacrificing worshipper. Thank you." She may or may not have tried to get him to be the one to move. Her hand went from his nose to the plait she'd put in his hair. "You have a fair complexion but you have gorgeous colored eyes. Wear something darker to bring out your eyes. I would like it."

If she was going to have to put up with him until he moved away then he might as well be nice to look at. And she could very well be annoyed by someone who was subpar. Kina would need to make sure he looked good so that she didn't lose face by having him as a fremey.

"Language, princess." Siel quirked his brow with a s**t eating grin. "I didn't expect such salty words from such a divine being. But...yeah, you might want to." In all honesty he wasn't exactly sure what kind of person Morain was into, if he was into anyone at all, but Siel knew he'd have the pick of the litter when it came time.

"It's not self-sacrifice if I'm the one benefiting." His voice had a near chiming quality to it; almost as if he planned on singing his freedom the moment he was able to skip away. "Something darker? Wouldn't that just blend in with my skin?" Hearing a compliment about his eyes was...uncomfortable, at best. That much was obvious with the way he ghosted over it and diverted attention onto something else.

"As charming as this evening's been I have to get going before my fathers' come after me. Try not to get lost or the stars might scoop you up." Siel stepped back just enough to give her a mock bow, "Until next time". And with that, he turned to head home.
