Ever since she'd successfully stolen that first starseed, right out from under Sailor Nunya or whoever's nose, Marialite couldn't help but chase that high again. The power she'd held in her hands, the knowledge that some poor, innocent person was dead at her feet and she'd done that, she'd killed them, she literally had the power of life and death in her hands--yes, that felt so good.
So she had stalked this civilian--some poor office worker, looking harried and tired, and part of Marialite felt bad for what she was about to do.
Not enough for her to not do it, of course, but she did feel bad.
She crept up behind him at a lonely bus stop, sank her hand into his back, and cut off his cry of pain by ripping his starseed.

Tobais was simply minding his own business, going through his day and working on heading home when he saw the dark clad woman with the ridiculous amount of hair.
Oh. Well. that never boded well, and the male’s eyes narrowed. He followed her as quietly as he could and when he heard the cry from the man that she seemed to be stalking, anger rippled through him, and he powered up into Lupu without a second thought, crossing the distance between himself and…
Ah.
The Negaverse officer.
“Now. I don’t think that was very kind of you. You might want to put that back before I get angry and have to hurt you.” His arms were crossed and his expression was hard. Just to look cool, he summoned his bow to his hand and held it there, tilting his head to the side after a moment. “Put that thing back where it came from. Or so help me.”
There was no need to be completely serious. He could handle this girl.

Oh.
Oh, hell.
Marialite felt a jolt of fear, when she felt the Squire aura come up on her. She was outmatched, powerwise, and she was pretty sure that she wouldn't be able to call Cale or Gala in time to have backup. On the other hand, though, she was less than eager to give up her prize, and so she turned, and smiled, brightly.
"I don't think I will! Why don't you make me?" she said, and then she whirled back around on her heels and ran off. Maybe she would be able to outpace him! That was a possibility, right? And if she was lucky, she'd also out-distance his arrows, and...oh, this was going to go so[/i[ badly.
Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound, or however the saying went.

Lupu watched her take off and drew in a breath, annoyance filling him. At the very least, he didn't have to let this go. It wouldn’t be too difficult to hold her and take the starseed...in fact.
He pulled back on the bow. “Hey.” He shouted, hoping to cause her to pause for long enough--
Channeling his magic, Lupu let one of the ethereal arrows fly, his face utterly impassive. “Keep in mind, I did ask nicely. You’re the one who thought that running was a good idea.”
The arrow reached a point a few feet in front of the lieutenant and Lupu smirked, beginning to walk towards the woman. “The next time someone tells you to do something...and they’re stronger than you, I suggest that you listen. It would save you a lot of grief.” He hoped she would be smug that he missed. Hoped that she wouldn’t realize just what was coming.
He did though. And he simply had to wait.Noir Songbird As a squire, Lupu has a magic pool that lasts for forty seconds. When he channels the magic, he holds his bow and fires an ethereal arrow. Wherever it lands within a fifteen foot radius, skeletal hands come up and bind the target in place. The magic channeling does not begin until the arrow has landed and the arrows can do no damage, they are just a catalyst for his magic. A total of four hands come out of the ground at this stage, capable of holding either one person in a very strong grip, two in strong grips or four in moderately breakable one handed grips. Anyone targeted by the hands will see flashes of a horrifying illusion of being surrounded by death and decay that worsens the more they struggle. The more hands that grip the target, the more overwhelming the sensation is

Marialite did pause, when he shouted, which she realized was incredibly stupid of her. She needed to run, needed to put as much distance between them as possible, so that maybe--maybe he couldn't reach her--maybe his arrow wouldn't be able to either.
It missed. Marialite gaped, watching it hit the ground in front of her, and wrinkled her nose at him.
"You're pretty confident for someone with terrible....aim...." she said, but it quickly became apparent to her exactly what was happening.
Escaping was a hopeless proposition, and she should have known. Squires, unlike the pathetic Page she'd been, got real magic, and she screamed as bony hands reached up to wrap around her ankles. This was why he was so smug--why he hadn't even bothered to run after her. He'd known he could catch her, no matter what she tried to do in order to escape.
She tried to kick, but the grip was too strong, and she overbalanced, flailing and landing on her back. At least there weren't more hands to grasp and hold, she was pretty sure she would have passed out or something else ridiculous if there were.
"Screw you," she said, and she gripped the starseed close to her chest. "Screw you and your fancy magic."

When the hand reached out and gripped her, Lupu sighed. “Terrible aim is only terrible when I miss the mark by a long ways.” He said softly, waiting for the signs that the rest of his magic was working on her. Thus far, everyone had been terrified to the point of speechlessness.
“Give me the starseed and I’ll remove the magic. I’ve been told that it’s quite fearsome, and a pretty thing like you doesn’t need to have too many nightmares.”
He reached the lieutenant and squatted down beside her, giving a small sigh. “Give it to me, or I’ll just take it anyway. But I am trying to be polite here. Stealing is wrong, and if you want to be punished for it...so be it.”
Lupu felt the magic still emanating from him and he sighed, shaking his head. “...How did a nice looking person like you get mixed up in the Negaverse anyway?”

Marialite made a face. She knew that he would have an easy time prying it out of her hands, with her trapped here with nowhere else to go, and if she wanted to even try to push herself up, she'd need her hands free.
And the skeletal hands weren't the worst part. It felt like she was laying on sometihng-- and when she looked next to her, she screamed, because there was a corpse, eyes wide open and soulless and dead, staring her in the face. She kicked and struggle,d trying top get away, but the more she moved, the more she realized--it wasn't just one corpse.
It was a pile of them, and she was on it.
"Take it! Take it take it take it!!" She yelled, and she flung the starseed in the direction his voice was coming from.
"And I'm not nice! I chose this. I was a Page, and I was miserable, and so I walked up to Hessonite with my eyes wide open and asked her to fix me, and she did!"

Ah. There it was.
Lupu gave a rueful smile and moved quickly to catch the starseed, watching the lieutenant with a somewhat pitying glance. “I wish we had met before you made such a decision. I was in the Negaverse and I was miserable. I hope very much that you don’t end up regretting this. Or becoming any more of a monster than you already are. I believe in saving people. Most people have good in them but…”
He held the precious gem close to his own chest, looking towards where the civilian was laying. “...If I find you again. If I find that you’re still working to bring harm to people. If I find you acting like a spoiled monster...the things you’re seeing right now…”
Lupu trailed off and stood up again. “You’ll be joining them. I’ll see to that. I protect my city from monsters. Take this as a warning, girl.”
With that, he turned away and returned the starseed to the civilian’s chest before picking him up and quickly running off, feeling the moment when his magic ran out.
If he was lucky, she wouldn’t try to kill again tonight.
...If he wasn’t. Well.
He’d see that he kept up his promise if he ever met up with her again.

"Get ********, you self-righteous p***k!" Marialite snarled, and she laid still, body shivering as she squeezed her eyes shut and tried not to focus on what was around her.
It took a long, long moment for her to feel comfortable opening her eyes again, and when she did, she was alone.
