Patrol again. Monoceros inhaled the crisp, cool night air deeply, praying that the night would be another long and boring one. Fighting really sucked. Of course, to his absolute horror, he encountered the very same negagent he'd seen previously, taking another starseed. Except this time, he was a little bit later, with her already walking away from the limp body in the alley. "Quill Flash!" he shouted, thrusting his hand towards her, the quills firing straight at her back. Noir Songbird Sailor Scout Attack: Quill Flash A burst of porcupine quills flies from Sailor Monoceros's hand, which can cause shallow scratches and/or minor puncture wounds. Any attempt to remove the quills before they vanish will cause sharp, pinpointed pain in the area; however, they don't sink in much deeper than skin-level. A user can choose to have this attack cause permanent damage or the injury will fade when the magic expires. This attack will last 20 seconds and can be used three times per battle.

This time, Marialite was prepared. Apparently, she and this Senshi were destined to run into each other, and she'd been paying enough attention this time to feel the Order aura approaching. So when she heard the attack call, she ducked to the side, and watched the quills fly by her. No pain or irritation this time, which was already a good start. She was quick on her feet, this time, too, whirling to run at him and bring around her empty fist for a punch. No sense shattering the starseed when she had just managed to acquire it.
"Well, looks like we've found each other again," she said, brightly. "You know, I don't think I got your name last time. I'm Marialite, what about you?"

s**t. Too distracted by his missed shot, he didn't duck in enough time, her punch landing square in his shoulder. ********, that hurt. He staggered back a bit, snarling at her. "Nunya," he said, thinking himself brilliant, "Put. The starseed. Back." He brought his uninjured arm up to throw quills at her again, thankful for the more close range this time.

"You know I'm going to call you that from now on, yeah?" Marialite said. "Like, even if you do tell me your name later. Also, no. Come and get it." The closer range, though, meant that his barrage of quills was far too difficult to dodge this time--so all she could do was bring up an arm to keep them from sinking into her face.
"Ugh, you Senshi are so annoying. Actual magic from day one, when all I ever had was this stupid prism, even when I was a Page." This time, she aimed her fist at his gut, hoping to hit something vulnerable there and knock the breath out of him.

"So what? What was yours again? Mare-yuh-low?" he retorted. Though, the revelation that she'd been a Page—that she'd fallen to evil, that that actually was a thing that happened, and here was one of them, standing right in front of him, fighting him, shocked him to his core—and then his core was punched quite solidly. He fell to his knees with a wheezing gasp, coughing. "******** you," he managed to rasp out weakly between horrible, rattling breaths.

Marialite rolled her eyes, and didn't bother correcting his pronunciation. Instead, when he doubled over, she danced away, putting some space between them to open up an opportunity to escape. This was perfect--this time, she'd get out, take the starseed with her, go home, and Caer and Salem would be so proud of her.
Speaking of them--his snide little swear made her pause, and tap her index finger against her chin, tilting her head to the side like she was thinking about what he'd said. She even gave him a very brief look-over, as if his suggestion was something she was seriously considering in any way, shape, or form, but after a moment, she made a bright little "hm!" noise.
"No, don't think so! I've got two gorgeous boys at home who give me more than enough, I don't need any form you, Nunya sweetie."

Seriously? She was... risking not escaping to tell him.... Wow. Okay. He smirked a bit, ignoring the stupid name, ugh, and quickly hopped from his knees to his feet, still low to the ground in a squat, and fired his last round of magic at her feet. If she couldn't run, she couldn't get away, and he could still try to save the civ's life. "Not that I'd give you any," he snarked back as he stood up fully, feeling fatigued.

Marialite yelped, realizing the folly of pausing for a taunt when he fired his magic at her feet. She skipped backwards, but a few still struck her toes, and she swore. It wasn't as bad as the ones still stinging faintly in her arm, since those only had to go through cloth and these were poking at leather, but it still hurt, and she cursed her own stupidity for letting it happen.
"You're a brat, and I should take your starseed too," she snarled, and she strode forward, wincing with each step. "But you're lucky. I'm not going to. Because I want you to stay alive. To know you failed."
Once she was close enough, she brought her foot up in a high, cheer kick, and aimed it straight for the most sensitive part of his anatomy.

He was far too slow, too sluggish to react, when she came back towards him ********>. He hit the ground again with a small scream, practically faceplanting as he grappled at the quill or two—his own ******** magic, used right back against him—stuck in the worst possible place. Very faintly, a part of his brain suspected that this was useful information for later, but focusing on the future like that was quite hard given the very current, very painful situation. Or maybe it wasn't, really, when another part of his brain piped up, worried about his future with potentially—or not potentially—having kids someday. He'd always wanted a kid or two. If this b***h had just ruined his opportunity to have kids just to commit murder, Monoceros wasn't quite sure if he'd be able to prevent himself from committing his own murder on this horrible thing that dared to call herself a person. But... she was right, he thought, as the quills finally faded, taking a small chunk of the pain with them. He'd failed. Failed in his duty to protect people. And really, that was the thing that stung the most. His chest still burned with awkward breathing from her earlier punch, his shoulder burned from the even earlier one, and now his eyes burned with tears as the reality of the situation hit him. He couldn't save someone. Some hero he'd turned out to be.

There were no more taunts, no more jokes. Marialite watched him go down, and she turned. No more wasting time--she'd let him lay there, and she would get home herself, and that would be it.
Hopefully, she never had to see him again.
