Monoceros hummed to himself as he went on a patrol again. He'd increased his patrol length, after he'd finally seen some action just the other day. He needed to be more involved, now that he was actually a hero and not just a trainee or whatever. Of course, he did end up happening upon trouble—he was just passing by someone that he recognized from the Star Fest, all that long time ago, that he'd had such a good time with—when a large youma appeared and roared at the guy—Keiran?—and launched itself to attack. Well, ********. He shouted, "Quill Flash!" and threw a barrage of quills into the monster's schnozz. "Pick on someone your own size!" Noir Songbird Sailor Scout Attack: Quill Flash A burst of porcupine quills flies from Sailor Monoceros's hand, which can cause shallow scratches and/or minor puncture wounds. Any attempt to remove the quills before they vanish will cause sharp, pinpointed pain in the area; however, they don't sink in much deeper than skin-level. A user can choose to have this attack cause permanent damage or the injury will fade when the magic expires. This attack will last 20 seconds and can be used three times per battle.

Youma, in Keiran's opinion, were the biggest pain in the a** the Negaverse had ever produced. Their officers and Senshi were certainly dangerous, devious monsters, but the youma were just frustrating.
He'd been unprepared to face the large, spiky lizard-thing, at first, since he was on his way home from work and therefore not exactly powered up and in fit fighting shape. Still, this would be no problem for him, he was pretty sure--it was big, but it didn't seem intelligent, and that meant it was probably nothing an Eternal Senshi couldn't handle. He'd jsut need a moment to transform, and--
He turned his head when he heard a shout--something that sounded like an attack being called--and spotted the Senshi with his hand extended. The monster turned, too, and got a facefull of quills for its trouble, which sufficiently distracted it.
Well, no time for talking. And no need to worry about powering up in front of an ally.
"Kerberos Eternal, Make Up!" he declared, pulling out his henshin pen and holding it in the air. In a swirl of flowers, he was transformed, and it was with an Eternal's speed that he moved, sliding gracefully in next tot he other Senshi.
"Let's take care of this thing. It's too stupid for my magic to have any effect on it, but I can hit harder than you might expect." Particularly from someone as lithe and delicate as Kerberos knew he looked, in his dancer's garb, skin lined with glowing floral patterns.

Monoceros blinked as the guy transformed, becoming an— Eternal Senshi?! Holy s**t. They'd have to talk about that after they rid themselves of the crazy youma. He didn't think it was one that he could attempt to save, much as that pained him. He smirked confidently at Kerberos's words. "Hah! Dunno what your magic is, but that's, uh, kinda funny. Get him, just watch the quills. I don't exactly have perfect aim yet," he explained swiftly.

Kerberos nodded sharply. "A little stray magic's not a problem, but I'll be careful."
With that, he darted off, to dance with the monster. He was quick and light on his feet, darting around the youma and slamming bodily into its side. It was big, but clumsy, and Kerberos was pretty sure that if he knocked it over, it might just struggle to get back up.

Monoceros grinned like a shark as Kerberos fought the monster. Wow, he was good. 'Ceros thought it looked like a well-choreographed dance, honestly. The way Kerberos slipped through the air like some kind of ballerina warrior, twisting and turning to avoid the hits. Damn, that looked seriously cool. And also like the stuff of dreams. Shaking his head slightly to dispel those thoughts, he carefully tried to line up another shot of quills, hoping Kerberos wouldn't get hurt. He wished he was as bodily able to fight, but he relied (probably too much) more on his magic. Especially with it being somewhat ranged. Meant he had to actually get his hands dirty a bit less, if he were lucky. He fired again, hoping he didn't hit his new (old?!) friend.

When Kerberos heard Monoceros call his attack, he grinned, moving to shove the youma one more time and send it off balance. As the magic smacked into it and it toppled over, it made a groaning noise and dissipated into dust.
Casually, he dusted off his hands, and then shook out his skirt, before looking up at the other Senshi. "Well done! You handled that excellently; I'm impressed." He moved over, extending a hand with an offer to shake. "You probably heard me call it, but. I'm Eternal Sailor Kerberos, Senshi of Asphodel. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Monoceros's grin tamed into something warm and happy as Kerberos introduced himself. "Sailor Monoceros, Senshi of Porcupines," he said, shaking Kerberos's hand, "But we've already met. I recognized you in your civvies, I mean. You helped me over the summer with the, uh, scavenger hunt thing. And we both saw that super weird house." Emphasizing his point, he powered down, smiling much more shyly. "Hi, Keiran. Superheros are real after all. And you—you're one of the best! An Eternal, just, wow!!"

Kerberos blinked in surprise. He remembered the scavenger hunt, of course--but he hadn't expected to see Ryan again, at least not in this context. After a moment, though, he broke onto a broad grin, and nodded, though he didn't power down himself--it felt better and more comfortable to be in this form, especially when he didn't know if there might still be something nasty lurking nearby.
"I remember that--and look at you, a superhero yourself," he said, and he laughed. "Yeah, it's....been a long road getting here, and kind of a bumpy one? But the good news is, I've learned a lot, and being Eternal means that youma really aren't that intimidating anymore."

Ryan rubbed the back of his neck shyly. "Yeah. It's crazy. Fun. A lot of scary, but... I'm determined to see this through, you know? Course you know, you made it to Eternal." He stuck his hands in his jacket pockets. "Youma are super scary," he admitted, "I, uh. I'm actually part of a court, now. That focuses on helping the ones who might want help. To return to their former selves. It's... cool. Not that I've been able to do much yet. I just run into scary ones. Can't any of them be like, a kitten or something?"

Kerberos softened. "That's good, I'm glad to know there's people working to help them." He thought of Airitech, who deserved a chance to be free of the Negaverse's clinging influence. "But a lot of youma..." Kerberos sighed. "It's hard to help them, because the people they used to be are very, very gone."
He did perk up, though. "Good news and bad news! You're at least not killing them when you dust them. They go back to a place in the Negaverse's underground city called the Rift, where they reform, and eventually they'll come back. Good news because it means you get to try another day to save them, bad news because it means that some of the nasty ones might show up again."

Ryan nodded as he listened, fingers fidgeting in his pockets. The adrenaline from the sudden fight hadn't quite left him yet, sticking him with a load of pent-up energy. "I really hope I can help save as many as possible," he said quietly, "Nobody deserves to be reduced to such... a horrible thing..."

"No, no one does," Kerberos agreed. "What the Negaverse does to people...it's just awful. They tear you down, break you apart in every way that matters...human or youma, they do their very best to turn you into a monster." His voice was soft and melancholy, and his smile became miserable and wan. "I should know. I spent my first year or two as a Senshi as one of theirs. Hair down tot he floor, fancy black uniform...told to go forth and kill for the glory of Metallia."
He exhaled. "So, you know. If you want some perspective, I've got it, from both sides."

"Hair down to the floor sounds like a pain," he said, giving Kerberos a serious, concerned look. After the barest moments of deliberation, he stepped forward and threw his arms around Kerberos in a tight, squeezing hug. "I'm glad you got out of there. I dunno what I'd've done if you were still one of them. Probably tried really hard to convince you to leave," he mumbled into Kerberos's shoulder.

Kerberos welcomed the hug, wrapping his arms around Ryan and squeezing him back.
"It's okay, really," he said, a fond smile on his face. Ryan was so good, and kind---he was going to be the best Order had to offer, someday. "I had people to help me get out, and I've gotten a few out myself--so it's better, now, than it was. But it was, I'll admit, pretty bad back then."

"As long as the present is better, that's all you can ask for," he replied, releasing him from the hug after another long moment. "I mean, it's like Master Oogway says. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present." He grinned goofily.
