A cry in the night ripped through the air in Fenvrie yet again. By now the parents simply gave up on the idea of getting a full night of sleep. It started so small. A child here or there waking up in panic from a nightmare. Then it was one or two more; now several kitsu had gone missing. The nightmares have found their way even to the deeper reaches of the Golden City Adults are no longer spared from the horrors of being chased through the woods by creatures of mist only to be torn apart. Word has stretched back to Athas and quests for investigation and assistance have been posted Both in Torreland and Athas. Who will be willing to investigate the call?

Calling all adventurers brave of heart and mind. Kitsu have gone missing in or near the Remembrance Woods in Torreland. Please sign posting for investigation group and meet at Lament’s Inn located in Fenvrie. (this is flavor text for CYOA for setting. I will post the CYOA start and do @ tags in this thread to kick the event off on the 10th)

The receptionist at the desk looked over the group. What an ominous group. Still being from Fenvrie it was unsurprising they feared any nightmares in the group. Of all the towns in Torreland this one didn't like the nightmares being so openly welcome and all the townsfolk viewed them with supposition. It was likely due more to the ominous woods they lived near but fear rand deep in these folks. With so many here to investigate the odds of finding something was too good to pass up even if it meant a few nightmares in the group.

"Alright so." The fauna rubbed the clear bags under his eyes and looked at them all. He hadn't slept in four days and his little girl had only been able to sleep thanks to a plushie that had shown up on her windowsill. "You will need to split and try and look through the woods, A ways down the path near town a wagon group went missing and near town the say there was sightings of a monster." He didn't add the sighting was by another fauna who like him hadn't slept in days. He was sure he had seen things in the fog as well.

Electra grinned and looked at Teddy who had closed his eyes and groaned as the Fauna told them the goings on about this place and sighed "you are are grinning wider than the Cheshire Cat aren't you?" He asked, knowing full well what the answer was going to be. Electra giggled as she nuzzled her mate "we have to help them out! I know you wanted to come just for a romantic night away just for the two of us but you know I can't say no to helping Kitsu."

Teddy sighed once more, her helping others is one of the reasons he loves her "alright, we can help" he said as Electra nuzzled him once more "thank you, what option do you think? I will go with whatever you choose" she said as he decided to go with A. "We are heading to the location the Kitsu went messing" he said, know she wouldn't be one who stood around to protect the village, she would want to jump right into the fight.

Electra licked his cheek "you know me so well" she said, pleased they came after all, she originally wanted to stay home but he twisted her leg and talked her into coming.(edited)

Athena was more than willing to help. She was a fighter and she felt it her duty to help those weaker than herself. She could see that the fauna was terribly tired and she pitied the poor kitsu. Her kind had long since battled nightmares so she couldn't blame the distrust the fauna had towards nightmares. Athena had never made friends with a nightmare herself. Athena decided that protecting the town was more important for the moment. There was no telling if the missing kitsu still lived and those still alive were most important and should be protected. Bao Jie nodded her head as she listened to the problem. She was totally up for looking for the missing kitsu. She figured if she went looking for the missing kitsu there was a good chance she would find whatever took them too and that was what she wanted. She wanted to see these monsters and see what they were like or if they were just some scary tree that had frightened the villagers.

Honestly Vashi felt used to this kind of reception to his presence. Oooo scary nightmare don't even ask him his name or anything first. Well sometimes he supposed the fact that his scarf flickered like live flames didn't help his imposing look either. Really though the reaction the kitsu of the village were having to him is why he had come in the first place. He was here to prove that at least he was different, he was a friend to all and willing to use any of his strength to help others. Because of this he chose to stay here to help protect the kitsu and try to figure out just what was causing their.....nightmares....from here. Vashi moved his ears pinned down a little he didn't like feeling like others didn't like him. He seemed to silently take up a guard post facing the forest he wasn't sure what he was going to do ,but he would help figure this out. ((Choice B))

Athena took position by the nightmare, she didn't hate the nightmares per say, but she didn't trust them either. Still this one was willing to stand and protect this town even though the fauna feared the nightmares to an extent that was not often seen where Athena lived. She nodded to the nightmare and took up her spot ready to fight if need be.

"Stand back everyone nothing here to see!!! Just imminent danger and in the middle of it me!" A kitsu said striking a heroic pose with his fighting staff. "Ace is here to save the day." He gave a flick of his hair and grinned. "Its ok you can hold your praise and rewards till after I've save everyone." Ace gave a hearty laugh. "I will find the missing kitsu if not I will defeat the monster most heroically of course!" He stowed his staff and with his held high he marched off towards the location where the kitsu had gone missing. Ace seemed like he might be hum/singing his own theme song as he heads out. Vance was hype. He was on the balls of his feet, shifting this way and that. People going missing? A mystery? A monster? The hybrid was all in. Sword at his flank, he woke up bright and early and was one of the first to arrive to this place in torreland. He didn't have to give much thought as to where he was going. The choice was obvious.

"I'll slay the beast!" Vance flashed a grin. "Just show me the way!"

Edgesworth scritched his chin. A family gone missing is never a good thing. Terribly frightening. There were fighters and such that could slay any monsters on the edge. He was no fighter. "Might need a doctor if we find anyone. I'll head towards the wagon." He nodded his head definitively and tried to smile. The worry quickly defeated his lips making them fall.

From what Sakura Midnight heard so far, both young and old were being plagued by two troubles at once this season, perhaps three or more at the worst. There was much to take in. All she wanted was one night or more away from noisy den neighbors and the comical antics of one Advena Bryony, but instead of brushing off a call for help, the kitsu opted to join in the wagon search party. "You know, I'd be very concerned for the young if I had children and friends go missing," Sakura admitted aloud. "I know my parents would, whether it was just me, my sibling, or others caught up in all the dark events. I'll join the search party by the path." ((Option A))

Dante glanced up at his taller daughter, sitting on his haunches while she stood beside him, listening to the fauna explain the situation. Araphel herself seemed completely focused on what was being said, but Dante caught the look she shot back towards him at the mention of 'monsters' near the town. He smirked back at her and bobbed his head slightly. Their choice was clear, given their profession.

Once the fauna was finished talking, Dante stood and wandered toward the group staying near town, Araphel on his heels. The two paused slightly at the one loudly singing about being a hero and Dante snorted. "Kid, don't sing any songs just yet. We've got no idea what we're dealing with here."

Araphel gave a nod to the others gathered to sniff out the monsters and defend the town. She drew the katana from its sheath on her back and whirled it once through the air. "So... What are these monsters waiting for?"

"Yea..." Dante added, "Let's get this party started." ((option B))(edited)

Two collared felines watched the on-going of the other kitsu seemingly unimpressed. One was black as night the other like the sunset. Growing bored of the other kitsu the two felines hopped down from their perch and returned to a pair of kirin and ghoulies sitting at a table toward the back listening intently to the tired fauna.

"What do you think sister?" The dark haired De Spell asked as her sunset feline hopped up beside her.

"I suppose I go with the boisterous group to find the missing kitsu." The orange haired one answered her sister as the black feline meowed. Maeve took a look at thoes setting out toward the woods. Mysterious disappearances tickled her fancy more than fighting a monster anyway. "Shall we go Jinx?" She said to the ghoulie as she got up picking up her broomstick. The black feline hopped upon her back. "Good luck with this group sister" Maeve said as she joined the group that was going to find the missing kitsu.

Hecate watched her sister join the other group. Monsters weren't always they seemed. With so many superstitious kitsu in this village the monster could simply be a misunderstanding. But if it wasn't wouldn't that be just as fun? As it was her turn to join a group she looked to her ghoulie "our turn now dear Hex" she picked up her own tightly woven broomstick and made her way toward the would be monster hunters. There were definitely a few raring to go. This would be fun even to just watch.

Mateo had his eyes on the weary fauna, both paws around the spear he called Zed, a little anxious at the prospect of the journey ahead. Why was the kirin feeling so nervous? There was no shame in bringing it along, as he always had from the day it was given to him. At best, Mateo figured, he could defend himself and others responsibly from whatever fearsome beasts were bringing so much suffering to the sleep of parents and young alike. Worst case scenario, Mateo would go on the offensive, if only for a short time.

The orange kirin didn't have much time as it is to ponder on the what-ifs and the uncertainty. The fauna was counting on those present to find out the reasons behind the frights and the disappearances. Knowing full well that a real protector would never abandon citizens in times of distress, and it sometimes meant defending a place of importance from certain destruction, Mateo took a minute to relax and proceeded to follow the hunting company. A monster on the prowl? Not on his or anyone else's watch! ((Option B))

(im a bad player, i almost forgot to reply)

Nova was worried but his friend Raini was with him, Kitsu going missing was awful on it's own but coupled with the cries during the nights, so many kitsu were exhausted and children were the worst affected. Nova wanted to help, though he wasn't sure how. While he pondered the options Raini spoke up

"There's not much point in going and checking where kitsu have gone missing from, they are already gone, it would be useless, we should go and check the woods, if the missing have been kidnapped then it's most likely they're being hidden there somewhere" she said, eyeing the smaller Kitsu by her side

Nova had actually wanted to look for clues but he figured Raini also made sense. "I guess the woods it is then" he said in his small voice.

Low Key kept to the shadows as he listened to the receptionist at the desk. He and the shadows were friends as he always lurked with in the, mainly because of his occupation as well as his sinister appearance. Multiple red eyes, and a boney bitey tail that seemed to have a mind of its own.

Though finding and getting rid of the said monster that seemed to be plague this place wasn't really his goal. Instead he wanted to see if this thing would be worth recruiting for Ignis' army.

But the main question was which route would be the best for his goals of finding this monster. He decided that going towards the woods would be the best bet for him and possibly finding this monster. He had no interest in protecting the citizens of this place as his strengths he only used for Ignis' gain. (Option B)

The colorful angelic listened to the receptionist as well as the choices of the others who had gathered here. Hermia agreed with the one called Edgeworth if they were able to find anyone they would need a healer. She was an alchemist and could create a variety of potions that could help in a situation such as that. So she too decided her best course of action would be to see if they could find the missing Kitsu. (Option A)(edited)

Jinxie stood idly by the others, wondering what the best thing to do might be. It seemed that other kitsu were dividing themselves up, some with more confidence that others. She brushed imaginary dust off her clothes and settled her hat more securely on her head, then smirked. Hey, she was dressed up as a monster - a sweet, adorable, playful one of course! - so she decided to go looking for the missing kitsu. Maybe she could sway the monster with how cute she was, ha! (Option A)

Sweet Swirls frowned. It was disturbing, the nightmares and then the disappearances. It made her think of the old stories of fae creatures snatching children from their homes...But no, no reason to fret. The cotton candy lady squared her shoulders, causing the Guardian on her back to shift. There seemed to be kitsus willing to gaurd, but her skills would serve best in the search. "We should stay in groups of three during the search." That was her suggestions, who knows if anyone would listen. She at least would try to stay near another Kitsu in the woods...the dark ominous woods. What a spooky adventure. Sweet Swirls smiled a bit, exciting. (option A)

Shux was curious to see about these disappearances. He was quite interested and so had come out to assist. He wasn't terribly sure how much he would help, but that was simply because he tended to be a lazy cat. He wrapped his tails around himself as he listened. It would seem they had two choices.... the edge of town or to go where the disappearances happened. Well obviously his interest was more in disappearing, so thats where he headed. After all maybe something could tell him how or why? (OPTION A)

Those who headed through town to investigate there are several kits as well as adults clutching soft and gentle looking plushies. The fauna holding them seem to be clutching them for dear life and stroking them snuggling them and each other closely. It is a very odd sight to see. Not only that but you feel an odd calming feeling as you walk past the plushies. Something is definitely strange about them. Still as you head toward the woods you see it is covered with a thick mist that seems to emanate from deeper in. The sounds of birds fill the air, but not the soft gentle birds you love but more like carrion birds with bones stuck in their throats threatening you. The only question is where to go now?

1) Investigate the strange calming plushie
2) Off into the mist we go~

Vance wasnt the type to say he could understand other kitsu. He didn't care for oddities or pondering why some freaks were carrying plushies. That wasn't his life. If they had problems then that was their own deal. Vance just wanted to beat up some monsters. Who was afraid of thick mist? He sure wasn't. So off he went.

Vashi took notice when Athena has taken up post next to him he gave a nod of acknowledgement. But it wasn't long into rounds that he couldn't help but take note of the plush everyone had. He felt nervous moving around already scared kitsu that clearly were made more uncomfortable with him lurking around. So when a calming feeling rushed by him he certainly took notice. This was strange, these aren't ordinary plush. He looked to the woods as another kitsu that had stayed behind with the group started to head into the mist. It didn't seem wise to go a lone into something like that. Should he join the other kitsu? No he had said he would stay here and protect the town well not said just acted on it. Would the kitsu here answer his question? "Excuse me he asked the first kitsu that seemed to be wiling to look him in the eye. "Where did these plush come from?" Maybe the kitsu who gave them to the children might have more information on whats going on. ((#1 plushies!!!))

Mateo paused, ears twitching. The atmosphere had grown more eerie the closer he reached the fauna town. Every long-eared citizen the holder of a plush doll. It was one thing to carry a security blanket item, yet the few the kirin did witness in life, the doll owners of any age, they were usually something...brightly colored, soft to the touch, bearing a sweet scent from nature, and where the owners treated said dolls as extensions of the selves they wanted to be during playdates, or as something to aspire to when they grew older.

But what startled, then alerted the spear-carrier much more was the cackling, cursing cries of birds. The kirin turned and pointed his spear at the mist-covered wood. "I've got a real bad feeling about this..." he muttered, to no one in particular. Having doubts that any of the villagers had the focus to let go of security objects for a few questions relating to the hauntings, Mateo gathered his courage, and stepped through the mist, armed with a spear. ((Option 2))

Hecate much like her sister enjoyed the eerie atmosphere. As they padded through the village to it's edge the plushies caught her attention There was something magical or otherwise about them. "Do you see that Hex?" she spoke softly to the ghoulie as they passed kitsu holding the dolls. "Isn't that curious" Hecate quietly whispered to herself. She had to know how they worked and find out what kind of magic tied them together.

She noted a few of the group head into the mist before. Her attention turned to the nightmare who spoke up asking about the dolls then shifted to the villages for the answer to the question. Perhaps one of them might be persuaded to let her have one of the dolls to investigate.

Low Key kept walking. He didn't really stop to take in the group that had gathered near the edge of town. After all his goal wasn't protecting them but finding this said monster for Ignis' army. With out a word he continued into the mist, using the shadows to his advantage to disappear into it. (option 2)

Dante and Araphel wandered after the rest of the group, glancing around as they went. After a few minutes, Araphel frowned slightly. "What's with the stuff animals?"

Dante blinked he hadn't even noticed. "No clue," he answered lightly, continuing onward. He only realized his daughter stopped after another few paces and glanced back.

She waved a hand toward him to keep going. "Go find the monsters, I'm going to ask someone about these plushies."

Dante shrugged. "Alright suit yourself."

For those who picked 1 Please head to #end-route-than-you-for-playing. For those who picked 2 the adventure continues. The woods don't get any brighter when you enter them if anything they feel even creepier. There is a film like feeling as you walk making your hair stand on end. The annoying birds aren't getting any more harmonious either. A short grey stubby grass that is ugly hues of brown and grey. A cold wind nips at your paws and you swear you can hear whispering in the wood from random directions. Things are certainly starting to get a bit creepier now perhaps you should have looked at the plushie instead..

C) Check out the voices. It might be important someone could be watching!

Mateo shivered from the cold wind, and the whispers didn't make the situation better. Of all the situations for the spear-carrier to get himself into! Where were Sakura Midnight's neighbors when he needed them? A little bright humor would be nice about now, no pun intended.

However, the kirin knew that he had gone much too far into the search to abandon the mission. The innkeeper fauna was counting him! What if the woods were darker than manageable comfort, and the voices so annoying to the point of befuddling any thought? Mateo was up against a challenge unknown, and what was a challenge without a few obstacles?!

Despite the distractions coming from the birds, and more recently the whispers, the kitsu pressed on. ((Option D: Keep Going))(edited)

Dante frowned a bit at the whispering voices but... Nothing was exactly jumping out to attack them. So perhaps it was best to ignore them? Still, it wasn't in the hunters nature to do that. Turning his head toward the darkest patch of shadow he could see, he yelled "If you're gonna whisper s**t then come out and fight!" Then he turned forward again and continued forward. (option D, since he didn't really... Go investigate XD )(edited)

Low Key's ears shifted at the voices whispering from around them. But he really wondered if it was just the wind in the trees rather then whispers. In fact that is what he believed, after all if this monster was being hunted down by several of them why would it reveal its location so easily? So the nightmare ignored the voices and continued into the wood. Not convinced entirely that this was his folly. (Option D)

For those who picked C please head to #end-route-than-you-for-playing for those who picked DHeading deeper into the woods you find parts of the ground are getting a bit ... soupier. Picking your way on more dry land you try and think back and remember that there is a bog on the other side of the wood but surely there is no way you could have gotten so far already right? How strange. A dark voice giggles at you and it's only then you realize the sounds of the birds is absent. That's scary the gigle seems to be all around you. It doesn't sound evil but really does evil ever sound evil before it attacks? You see something in the mist moving off the side. You could swear.... it looks like you!

Mateo blinked his eyes and shook his head from the instant sight of the doppleganger. Someone or something was trying to trick searchers like him into losing the trail of whatever was causing the hauntings around the fauna town. Of the townsfolk of all ages carrying suspiciously creepy dolls a short distance from the misty wood, and the whispers the kirin heard no more. Things were only going to get more eerily odd the further the spear-carrier ventured to investigate more.

Regardless of how the searching journey ended, Mateo opted to take his chances against the demon than learn too late that whoever was in control of the wood lured him and select others into a trap. (Option 6)(edited)

Dante titled his head a bit upon seeing a kitsu that looked like him. Then he actually threw his head back and laughed. "I already got one twin, and he's a pain in the a**! You really think I'm about to go chasing after another one?" Smirking, the Siler haired kitsu shook his head and followed the giggling instead. (option 6)
