With a groan of realization, Koril straightened up and stretched out his back and arms. He had been hunched over those papers for far too long! A break was in order. As eager as he was to finish his work, he knew when a break was required.

The stack of papers covered the desk in front of him, each one tied with twine to keep a passing animal from accidentally scattering the pages. Koril had been sitting there for a few hours, carefully scrawling out the final pages of his second book. It was just about done... Years of travel and research and exploration, of bites in his arm and scratches on his back and drool on his face, of seeing every animal he could possibly lay eyes on... all if it was finally wrapping up. While he liked the idea of a third book some day, his greatest pride would always be in this first set. Comprehensive, intricate, detailed, coherent...

Honestly, it was strange to realize he had created something that a publisher was willing to make for him. Something that others were willing to read. Something that others could use to reference and learn of the world. It had been an amazing journey, and he was surprisingly ready for it to come to a close. His life was taking a new turn... a turn that made his heart more content than it had been in years. He had loved the life of the traveling researcher, there was no doubt about that, but he was eager to watch his life progress down this new chapter as well.

Sol lightly knocked on the doorframe before letting himself into Koril's workspace. For most of the day he'd busied himself with a few emergency cases that needed tending to despite the fact that this was his day off, and in a way it kept him out of his lover's hair. No matter how hard Sol tried to be quiet he always tended to make noise in some way or another, whether that be bumping into a misplaced chair or murmuring to himself about the contents of a vial, so getting away while Koril worked seemed the best course of action. of course, when he'd returned to find the other hybrid still working he'd tried to help as much as he could.

At first it had been simple enough; feed the animals, make sure they were given adequate attention and generally keep them busy so they wouldn't distract Koril. When they settled down, however, he'd whipped up a cup of tea or...what he hoped was tea. Boiling hot water in a kettle wasn't difficult once he practiced enough, and measuring the tea leaves with his fingers was easy. Making sure he didn't spill anything on his way into the room....Well, that was harder.

It was exactly why he remained in the doorway and didn't dare come closer. What if he moved in too close, knocked into something and ruined Koril's progress? So, there he stood, with a steaming cup of tea balanced on a tray that also had a few pieces of warmed roati meat. "Ready for a snack?"

After digging the heels of his palms into his eyes, he yawned and reached out to pluck up a small stone carved into the shape of a sleeping raptrix. It had been too sweet to pass up, and it made for a good paperweight while writing. Careful to avoid the wet ink, he secured the pages and stood with a long stretch over his head. His joints popped and crackled, and he couldn't help snorting with amusement. Surely he wasn't old enough to be making so much noise!

Speaking of noise- He looked over at the knock and let out a pleased sigh. "So ready. Thank you. Let's go sit by the fire though; the room's getting a bit cramped." He was still getting used to being in one place for so long. Not that it was unpleasant. It was just different and needed adjusting. "Ah, that smells good. Sorry I was in there so long." He reached out to accept the tray, his fingers brushing over Sol's hand lightly with appreciation.

Sol winced a little at all the popping and cracking, antennae flickering at each new sound. It wasn't as if he wasn't to it; he himself tended to make a fair bit of noise when he got up these days, but his healer's mind kicked in. Maybe he could stir up a warm bath later with some imported salts and scents? Perhaps even a personal massage...

"How long have you been working today? You were wrapped up in ink when I left this morning." He waited until he heard Koril approach to let go of the tray, just for safeties sake. His brow furrowed and he sighed a little as the pair made their way closer to the fire. At least in the confines of his own space Sol could move around with little assistance, but knowing what Koril had given up just to stay with him always tended to weigh on him. "You should take regular breaks; go outside and get some fresh air. This cabin was small when it was just Sev and I, but now....Well, it can't be comfortable to stay in all day."

Brow rising, Koril cocked his head in thought. When had Sol left..? He couldn't help a blush covering his cheeks. He'd been at it that long? "I guess.. this whole time? I did eat lunch, I swear! It was the leftovers of last night's soup." Once the tray was set onto the end table, he opted to stand while he enjoyed his snack. "I'm used to being bothered by one animal or another. Now I actually have my own space and it's so easy to lose track of the time."

As if on cue, Mekameko crept out from whatever nook she had curled up in to paw at Koril's leg and gave an inquisitive chirp.

"Speaking of which, silly girl! I take it you want a bite, too, Meka?" A piece of meat was broken off and thrown, the loatoa's little paws barely making noise as she scampered after her treat. Koril sighed contently with a sip of the tea, but turned with curiosity at Sol's observation. Bright eyes shifted to look around the little cabin. It certainly was.. cozy. "But I like being squished in so close to you~" he teased playfully. Still, Sol did have a point. "Should we get a bigger place, then?" he asked with a grin around another sip, eyes gauging Sol's reaction closely.

Sol hoped that his disapproving glare was at least somewhat directed towards Koril. "That's good, at least, especially if you've made progress." He felt around for the edge of a chair and slipped into it, bringing one of his long legs up underneath him as his own exhaustion started to settle in. The healer sighed a little, relaxing back into the custom made cushions that lined his seat and felt around until he came across a throw to toss over his lap.

"Don't let her fool you, I just fed her a few...moments ago." Of course she'd managed to wiggle out a snack from him; Sol had never seen a more spoiled creature.

A bigger...? Sol's antennae flickered up a bit, showing more surprise than his facial features let on. That was part of the new life they were building together, wasn't it? "That sounds like a really good idea, actually." He couldn't help smiling despite the nerves. Of course there was no guarantee they would build anywhere close to the woods he was familiar with, but...was that really so bad? "We'll need plenty of land, and a solid ground for a stable. Do you think we should stay in Zena or-?"

"Lots of progress!" he assured happily. Wrapping up the book was a bittersweet feeling. After all, once it was done... he was actually going to have to get a job that paid something! He was on good terms with the local stable already though. That would be fine.

Brow rising, he aimed his own half-hearted glare over at the loatoa happily munching on her food. "You be careful, fuzz face. Keep begging off snacks like this, and you won't be able to climb out of Flana's reach one day." Of course.. he was giggling at the thought a second later. His animals may have been spoiled, but they were all healthy and fit! ..Something else that was a bit of a chore now that they weren't going all over the place.

Sol's surprise tickled him, but the agreement was a surprise in itself. He gently set the tea back down before taking the few steps needed to close the distance between them. "Incoming!" he warned with delight before dropping to straddle Sol's lap. "You mean it? You don't mind? We could just add on to here if you'd prefer." The question of Zena threw him even further though. "Is there somewhere else you'd rather be? Really.. we could go anywhere you want."

"K-Koril!" Sol gave out a little 'omph' noise, but just as quickly wrapped his arms around his lover to pull him closer. "You're such a brat." It was easy to forget that this was a fully grown man throwing himself around and not an overly eager child. Sol couldn't help snorting with mock aggravation even as the smile never left his face.

"I don't know if adding on is a good idea. The structure might weaken and we could lose it all." As much as he enjoyed his little cabin, Sol knew that modifying it would only cause him to lose it that much faster. He tapped his finger's against Koril's sides as he thought over the options. "I've...never really thought of living anywhere else, but I've also never really had a reason to leave. My parents and I traveled some when I was younger, but we also had this village as a base. I wouldn't know where else to go." Pausing, he turned his head towards where he thought Koril's might be. "What about you? Do you want to be closer to your family?"

Koril chuckled and raised his hand to smooth along Sol's golden hair. "I appreciate your tolerance~" He shifted into turning a small section into a braid while he pondered their options. To be back closer to his family? "I would be happy to be closer to everyone, but your fathers are here too, aren't they? If it wasn't for those mountains we could just sit ourselves right in the middle." He let his head tilt slightly, checking the progress of the braid. "Matori's a very different climate than here. Maybe we could go visit and see what you think? It would give us the chance to inspect all of the places along the way as well!"

Even if it was just a visit, he found himself instantly looking forward to a trip to Matori. Introducing Sol to his family, praying they don't overwhelm the darling man! What fun it would be!

The hybrid instinctively leaned towards Koril's touch and closed his eyes for a moment just to revel in it. He would have been happy just to stay there like that, but then he felt his hair being messed with and...was Koril braiding it? "My fathers are everywhere," Sol groused. "The last time I saw them they were in Jauhar with my siblings. I think they said they were going to go to Matori after they were a little older? The only one who used to drop by was Ygraine but now that she's on the run with the Sargsyan...." Sol shrugged his shoulders. He'd mentioned to Koril before that his sister had stopped by to pick up Sev for her trip with a guy, but had been purposefully foggy on the details. It wasn't his story to tell.

"By the time we get there they might already be there...." Which would be nice, right? That way he could meet Koril's family, Koril could meet his and it would be...an actual hell. So many people crowded together...Definitely better in small spurts. "I've been to Oba before, when I was a kid, but that's as far South as I've been."

Koril couldn't help an understanding little smirk. He knew the travel life well, and it wasn't exactly convenient for the rest of the family if they didn't all stick together. "It figures that your sister goes into hiding when I come around," he teased lightly.

"How fun would it be if we ran into your family on the way?" For his part, he wasn't sure about the thought of everyone in one place, either. That would surely be chaos. "Matori is warm, but much wetter." He sighed softly. "The ocean is always moving. My family lives right on the water, so I'll get to experience one of the best parts of it."

Sol couldn't help a giving a little smirk. "She knows your trouble and she's got enough to deal with right now." He leaned forward until his face touched Koril's, and with a little light rooting Sol made his way to the hybrid's ear where he nibbled at his finned ear. As much as he would like to introduce Ygraine and Koril timing just wasn't in their favor right now. With any luck things with that iceling would calm down and they might be able to meet before they all kicked it.

"You do realize my fathers would have three infants with them, right? I don't know if I'd call that fun." He murmured, settling for leaning against Koril now and just keeping the contact. Sol had visited when they were born and at the time they were draining, but mostly calm. Now that they were a few months in...he could only imagine the chaos.

"...Sounds like you miss it alot."

The tease made Koril laugh, though it easily smoothed into a pleased sigh. It was so easy to melt under Sol's affections~ The thought of Sol's sister being unavailable did make him wonder how much of his family would actually be home to meet them. His twin had been doing an apprenticeship in Oba, and the others weren't babies anymore! Maybe they would make a side stop in Oba to see if Kyril was still there... Another content sigh sounded as he wrapped his arms around the other man. "At least you wouldn't be stuck with them. My siblings weren't triplets, but they were born close enough together to be crazy when I was still living there. A short visit will be fun!"

Sol's observation brought about a light nod. "About as much as I did when I was traveling before. It'll be great to see it again, but I'm mostly excited to share it with you." He cocked his head to nuzzle his nose along Sol's cheek. "Just so you know.. no matter where we decide to live, here, there, or anywhere in the middle, I'll love it because you'll be there."

Sol's antennae frilled and he happily settled back with his lover nestled onto his lap. There was so much he still needed to get done before the evening was over, but Sol couldn't find it in him to care. Before Koril came along he lived for work and passed each day in a sort of haze. Now he found himself enjoying looking after his lover as he worked, and taking little breaks to bask in the comfort they brought one another. It was so new to Sol that he was still a little afraid it might go away at any given moment.

"We could live in the middle of the desert and so long as you were there I would be happy." He murmured with a little smile. That wasn't saying he wouldn't grouse about the heat and eventual sunburn, but Sol would work around it. Anything to keep Koril happy. "I'll start getting the clinic ready for my absence first thing tomorrow. I told them I would be back this afternoon, but...I think I'd rather stay here." He smirked, not even the least bit sorry. They could hold off without him for a day, and if he had anything to say about it, for a few months at least.
