Hobbies:
Basketball -- Troy's favorite sport by far is still basketball. He's been playing since he was big enough to hold a basketball and lives, eats, sleeps and breathes the game, at least in the privacy of his own home and driveway. He loves to watch basketball on tv, though, and will heckle and critique the players loudly, especially the pros, whom he figures should know how to play the game by now for all the money they make. He had dreams of going pro himself once upon a time; he tries to avoid playing basketball now, for his own safety.

Running -- A morning person by nature, Troy typically goes for a nice long run in the morning before breakfast. He has found running helps center his mind, almost like meditation, the rhythm of his strides and his breathing allowing him to focus his thoughts on the day ahead. The entirety of his neighborhood is by far his favorite running track; he feels safest there among the familiar houses and trees. Running is also helping him learn the layout of Destiny City, something he never did when he first arrived here. He can run for ridiculous distances with his stamina and athleticism, and can sometimes be spotted running in areas of the city well outside his comfort area. Running is one of the few things he prefers to do solo -- running with friends or a group would be too much of a distraction, because he'd want to talk to them.

Baking -- Blame The Great British Baking Show. Troy learned everything he needed to know about cooking in general from watching Food Network, Netflix and PBS, and he has turned out to be quite a good all-around cook, but baking is by far his preferred food activity. He is especially fond of baking bread, his favorite part being the kneading process. As with running, he finds it meditative, as well as delicious in the end. He bakes all sorts of bread for all sorts of occasions, some of them quite decorative; he even keeps a "pet" sourdough starter named Kareem in the kitchen. His co-workers and roommates are often the beneficiaries of his baking adventures, since there's only so much bread one man can eat.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Narrow and heavy-lidded, a brilliant blue in color, topped by thick purple brows.

Hair: Purple, just brushing the top of his shoulders now, with a side part and long unruly fringe poking out over his forehead. He no longer looks like a refugee from Dragonball Z.

Face: He's fairly good looking; dark-skinned, oval face with full lips and a snub nose. His chin is still hidden by a small purple goatee (he refuses to get rid of his supposed "evil goatee" -- he doesn't remember who called it evil, just that someone at some point did). He has a warm, wide smile when he allows it to show; his typical expression these days is serious and all business.

Skin Tone: warm medium chocolate brown

Body Type: 6'7", built lean and athletic

Clothes: Black t-shirts dominate his wardrobe now, though he is still fond of jeans and high-end sneakers. He will often wear long loose basketball shorts in the heat of summer, and adds a warm wool overcoat in the winter, sometimes with a hoodie beneath it. He wears khakis and polo shirts to work.

Virtues:
People Person -- Social and outgoing, Troy still loves nothing more than to hang out with mobs of people as frequently as he can. He's a natural at interpersonal interactions and is great at reading people. When he's in work mode, he will alter how he presents himself depending on the situation and who he's interacting with, even if he's just doling out advice to friends. He does his best to form a bond with his clients to demonstrate that he's really on their side and can help them navigate the system of public assistance.

Team Player -- Troy really does best when he has a certain amount of structure in his life, and that typically comes from being part of an organization that has a well-established hierarchy. On the basketball court, he knew exactly where he stood and what his position was, and more importantly who was around him and what their position was. At work, he considers his role on the team to best assist his clients in resolving their problems and improving their lives. He can be counted on to play his part to the absolute best of his abilities and assist his teammates wherever he can.

Regimented -- This ties in with his need for structure mentioned above. Troy's training routine is adhered to quite strictly, and this carries over into other aspects of his life; for example, at his job there are very specific steps to follow in a very specific order. Same with baking -- one needs to follow the recipe to the letter in order for the result to be delicious. He is very good at taking and following orders once he has figured out the steps he needs to take to accomplish his task and the order in which they are to be done. Multitasking is not his strong suit.

Flaws:
Self-Defeatist -- His time in the Negaverse really did a number on him psychologically. No longer arrogant and cocky, Troy is now often his own worst enemy when it comes to his confidence. If he doesn't succeed at something the first time he does it, he's convinced he's a failure and will never get it right. He will berate himself and fall into a bitter funk that only time, patience, support from his friends and compatriots, and maybe a run will bring him out of.

Self-Centered -- As noted above, Troy is no longer as arrogant or cocky as he used to be, but he still loves to be the center of attention, beyond the normal human desire to enjoy having the spotlight shine on them. He wants to be in the spotlight ALL THE TIME; this is an urge he especially has to fight down when he's at work and the spotlight is supposed to be on the client. Outside of work, he has a tendency to hog the conversation and trample other people's words with his own, usually about himself and his triumphs or woes. He really has to check himself hard to avoid this.

Argumentative -- Troy hates being challenged, especially when he's in one of his self-defeatist funks. He's not as thin-skinned as he once was, but his nostrils will flare and his words will become clipped and short if he is contradicted. It doesn't matter if the person he's arguing with is wrong or right, either -- his well-formed opinion is being challenged, and he doesn't like that. Troy doesn't argue purely for the sake of it; he absolutely hates pure debate because he gets so upset and angry when he's arguing. But he will stand his ground verbally and bite back in an argument.

History:
Troy doesn't like to discuss his background; if pressed, he'll just shrug and say he moved to Destiny City to go to college and decided to stay, and that he's estranged from his family. Then he'll change the subject or redirect the discussion back to the person asking questions with a warm, friendly smile.

It's not exactly a lie: he did move to Destiny City to go to college, and he is estranged from his family, though neither by his own choice.

Current Living Situation:
He's leasing a room from a work friend, sharing a large house with a few others. It's a temporary arrangement, but Troy likes his housemates and the sense of trust and community he has with them, so his search for a place of his own hasn't been terribly urgent. He pays the alpha tenant back by doing a lot of handiwork and tall-person things around the house, like cleaning the hard-to-reach spots near the ceiling and on top of things like bookcases, and getting things off the top shelves. He also enjoys cooking and baking for everyone.

+ Troy is a pretty imposing guy physically, towering over his housemates and most everyone else. Besides the daily running, he also works out with free weights for about half an hour a day, so he has kept the athlete's physique he cultivated in college. Because of his height and build, people keep asking him if he's a basketball player or suggesting to him that he should take up the sport; he just smiles and chuckles and says nothing.

+ Astrologically Troy is a triple Leo -- Leo Sun, Leo Moon, Leo Ascendant. He sort of believes in astrology, not to the point he reads his horoscope or anything, but as a personality analysis tool. At work, he makes note of his client's birthdate and conducts his interview and makes his suggestions based on how he as a Leo would approach that person's sign. On the negative side, Troy often uses his Leo-ness as an excuse for some of his behavior, like his tendency to bull his way into conversations and hog the spotlight; he'll shrug and grin and say "I'm a Leo, it's what we do." He's also a proponent of the Myers-Briggs personality types, and for the same reasons; he himself is a proud ENTJ.

+ A little-known skill that Troy possesses is that he knows how to dance. Not just club dancing, either -- actual formal ballroom dancing, like waltz and foxtrot and the like. He rarely has the chance to show this skill off, but when he does, it can come as quite a surprise to the observer, or to his dance partner. Sometimes he can be caught dancing by himself as he does housework or cooks and thinks he's alone in the house. He also likes formalwear and cuts quite a fine figure in a suit or tux. (Troy actually owns a couple of suits and his own tux.)

Knight Title: Vanaheimr Squire of Jupiter. In Norse mythology, Vanaheimr is one of the Nine Worlds and home of the Vanir, a group of gods associated with fertility, wisdom, and the ability to see the future.

Challenge: "Care to see the future?"

Weapon & Magic
Squire Weapon: A heavy dark green wool blanket, bound with brown leather trim around the edges; a long cord is attached to one corner of the blanket. Vanaheimr tosses the blanket at his opponent's head, holding onto the end of the cord. They suddenly find their vision obscured by heavy dark storm clouds, flashing with lightning. The air is heavy with a sense of dread; the cloak is weighing them down with pressure from the raging storm, making it difficult to wriggle free. Vanaheimr has a throwing range of 10 feet; the blanket can be dodged, and it can be cut. The effect lasts for the duration of his magic pool, about 40 seconds, or until the opponent manages to get the blanket off their head, at which point Vanaheimr can retrieve it and throw it again until the magic pool runs out.

Knight Weapon: A heavy dark green wool circle cloak with a grey fur collar and lined with grey fur, with brown leather knotwork trim around the edges and adorned with a large Jupiter symbol in grey on the back, and a long cord around the collar. Vanaheimr tosses it at his opponent's head, holding onto the end of the cord, and the cloak wraps and tightens around their neck and shoulders, weighing them down with heavy pressure so they can't wriggle loose. Inside, it's as if the opponent has stuck their head into the center of a storm; their senses are totally obscured by heavy dark storm clouds, thunder and lightning, lashing rain, and strong winds. The air is heavy with humidity and the smell of ozone, making it difficult to breathe easily; the air pressure makes their ears hurt. There's a very strong sense of dread, and in the flashes of lightning the opponent can see glimpses of what they sense is their future. Vanaheimr has a throwing range of 15 feet; the cloak can be dodged if one moves fast. The effect lasts for the duration of his magic pool, about 60 seconds, or until the opponent manages to get the cloak off their head, at which point Vanaheimr can retrieve it and throw it again until the magic pool runs out.

Summons -- A "Jelling beast", or more correctly a Gotland or Ringerike beast, the twisty creatures found in Viking stone carvings and jewelry. It is kind of a cross between a dire wolf and a dragon, the size of a small horse, with a long curled muzzle and daggerlike teeth, long ears and horns, paws with sharp claws, and a long tail nowed into a knot with a small dog-like head on the end. Its grey furred and scaled body is covered with elaborate Viking decoration and it is big enough to be ridden by Vanaheimr.

The Wonder
On Jupiter, Vanaheimr is in a small, densely-forested valley off some ways from the nearest population center. The valley seems to be even more storm-shrouded than most of the rest of Jupiter; hardly a day goes by when there isn't the rumble of thunder and the flash of lightning. Vanaheimr was once the home of seers and wise men and women, those who scryed the storms and told of things to come. The Wonder itself, as if in defiance to the violent Jupiter climate, was a tall, steep-roofed wood and stone structure set in a clearing, where the seers did their work and where the Knight, typically a non-seer, lived and oversaw the protection of the wise folk -- because sometimes people did not like what was foreseen for them.

The main floor of Vanaheimr is partially underground, the entrance to the building at the bottom of a short stone staircase. This is the only part of the original structure that still stands; the upper levels have long since been destroyed, and what is left of the wooden interior has petrified. The inside walls were cased in wood from the surrounding forest, with tall straight elegantly carved beams supporting the interior structure. It was open to the top spire, with walkways suspended by arches over the interior connecting the floors. A large stone fire pit still sits in the center of the main floor and once kept the entire building warm; food would be prepared by the staff over the fire and served on tables that surrounded the fire pit, and the seers would (relatively, compared to most Jupiterians) quietly socialize with each other over a mug of ale. As was typical on Jupiter, the seers slept in large barracks-style rooms; the Knight had their own private quarters on the ground level.

The Ancestor
The last Knight who served as Vanaheimr was the daughter of the previous Knight and one of the seers. Yrsa, a native of Jupiter, was a fierce warrior with the heart of a she-wolf defending her pups. Trained at the Academy on Earth, she was well-educated in the knightly virtues, as well as in how to defend herself and perform her duties as the guardian of her Wonder. Yrsa was tall for a woman and built for power and speed, with bright blue eyes and thick lavender hair pulled back into a long plait. She loved her ale and could keep up with the rowdiest Jupiter knights, often drinking them under the table. Tough as nails, nothing intimidated her; she lived hard and loved just as hard.

Yrsa had a gentle side, though, that only the seers at Vanaheimr got to see, and even then only passing rare. Thanks to her mother being a wise woman, Yrsa had something of the Sight, an ability she initially found frightening but grew to trust over the years. Occasionally she would take the shroud and scry hints of her future; it was how she knew she was destined to bear a son whose descendants would ensure that one day there would be another Knight returning to claim the title of Vanaheimr.

She died a warrior's death, in battle during the fall of the Silver Millennium.
