Artemis hadn't been an easy goddess to find. And that hadn't been a surprise to Namaqua; she was always roaming, always on the hunt. And, of course, had more important things to attend to than the matters of the heart of one of her lowly servants. When he had found her, his goddess' answer hadn't actually been all that helpful. She'd counseled him to follow his heart, and to trust himself to do what was best. Sigh.
But now Namaqua had been gone much too long, and so he hastened home, surfing over the soil until he reached his cave. A pang struck his heart. He never should have left his family for so long.
"Thad?" he called softly as he neared, "Enki? Selah?" He hoped he hadn't worried them too much, and suddenly wished he'd checked in at least once during his search. He couldn't help that it had taken him so long to find Artemis, but the responsibility for being gone this long was still his.

Thaddeus had been tinkering underneath the old generator silently. Thinking. It had been a few weeks since Nama left and he couldn't understand why. He had been acting so different before he left. Was it something he said or did? Why didn't Nama talk to him. As the days slowly went by he had gotten so worried. He trusted Nama and his skill but what if he got hurt? It had been hard for him not to just go out and fly to look for him. Just to make sure. He could turn into a bird and Nama would never know it was him....Every time Thaddeus have even mentioned doing such a think Enki just gave him the flattest 'no pops' he could muster. His son was right but that didn't make it any better for him."Thad?" He knew that voice. "NAMAQUA?"THONK The sound of hard head meeting metal echoed through the cave. "SON OF A-!" Thaddeus instantly gripped his head in pain. In his hurry to go see his lover he had hit his head on a stray piece of pipe from the generator. Hard. Thaddeus lowered his head again and back away from the generator and it's dangers slowly. That was smart. Was their blood? Maybe a little but he'd live with a nice bump on his head for a few days.
He rubbed his head as he made his way over to the entrance to see Namaqua. He gave Nama a quick look over with his red eyes before letting out a held breath of relief as the tension is his shoulders disappeared, causing them to fall forward. "You're ok...Thank the Guardians you're ok...The kids are out right now. They should be back soon and they'll be so happy. They've missed you. Even Enki who will never admit it." Thaddeus couldn't help but smile warming to Nama. He was so happy to see him again. "Did you find what you were looking for?"Quote: Just a note for staff, we agreed Namaqua has only been gone for a few weeks and not years so some important events haven't happened yet in case you're confused. LOVE YOU!

Upon seeing Thaddeus, Namaqua's heart swelled in his chest, and he strode forward and folded his lover into his arms. "I'm home," he repeated affirmatively. "And I did find what I was looking for." He rested his chin on Thad's head and inhaled deeply.
And how to explain what he'd found? How to explain that he wanted to be together, forever, but the idea of binding their very souls made him...profoundly uncomfortable? And how to do that without making it seem like he wanted a way out?
"Will you walk with me a while?" Namaqua asked, straightening up and holding Thad by the shoulders. It wouldn't be fair to keep him waiting any longer while he further pontificated on how to answer that question. He owed it to Thad to bring this conversation to a resolution so they could both move on--together.
He tucked his arm into Thad's and steered them towards the walking path. After they'd walked in silence a while, Namaqua began:
"I'm sorry I was away for so long. I never expected it to take so long to find my goddess." A soft sigh, and then he continued. "When I did find her, her counsel made me realize that the answers I was looking for had been here the whole time. Artemis told me to follow my heart." He chuckled gently. "At the time I was unsatisfied with that response--after all, I'd come so far and so long to seek her wisdom--but as I returned home I....I realized that she'd meant more than just, like, 'do what you want'."
He stopped and turned toward Thad. "Before I left, you asked me an important question. You asked if I'd marry you--bind our souls together. And I'll admit that it caught me off-guard." Namaqua laughed nervously. Gods, this was difficult!
"Thad, I love you. And I'll be here with you and for you until the end of the age. But marriage...it's not my culture, Thad. It's not my way." He offered a weak smile. "And I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but please know that it's not any indication that I love you any less." His heart was pounding as he waited for Thaddeus' response.
