Celestial Omens

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

There are many superstitions and beliefs in Tendaji, often originating from the culture and gods of each individual region. Wherever one goes, they might find a new routine or practice based on the region they are in. However, there seems to be one thing that all Tendaji residents believe in - the power and beauty of a meteor shower.

The rare celestial event is seen as a blessing, and this one just so happens to have appeared right when the New Year began. Oh what luck and what a great omen - this must be a sign of good fortune for the year to come.

[ How does your character react to the meteor shower that is lighting up the sky? How do they see this omen impacting their life and year to come? Explore the thoughts and experience either alone or with a friend.]

Jhana felt nervous. Verosh had offered to take her out the last time she had seen him and the night had come. The sun was just setting over the forests of Jauhar and there was talk of an astronomical marvel that was supposed to happen. She didn’t quite know what that entailed, but she could only assume Verosh had taken the opportunity to use it for their outing.

She was waiting at the forge, excited to see Verosh again, but not knowing what it was she should be expecting.

So Verosh felt a little bit foolish at the moment. The hybrid was at least wearing his usual attire instead of something fancier, that much he had argued his way out of once his relatives had heard about tonight's plans, but a basket of snacks and sweet earthling wines had been forced onto him for tonight's venture. He was not overly accustomed to the idea of spending time with someone like this that didn't involve training or hunting, but Verosh was trying his best to figure things out along the way. Apparently bringing snacks and gifts were to be expected if he was...well trying to get closer to someone like this.

It would be easier to go into battle against a monster. Verosh shook his head and straightened his shoulders in determination. This was fine. The hybrid nodded his head before venturing towards the forge, his steps slowing once he spotted Jhana. "I hope I'm not late." He greeted her with a small nod of his head, his feet shifting as he waited to see if she was ready to leave. Verosh had a small spot in mind, something he had found a bit further out that would take them to the edge of the forest. Verosh thought it would be an ideal location to see the night sky for the event tonight, the cliffs there plenty wide for two to enjoy some food while watching the stars.

After a lot of visible fretting and worrying, she could finally see Verosh outside of the forge. She felt her heart going a million miles a minute, but she tried to slow it down before she opened her mouth.

”Oh you’re not late at all!” She nearly squeaked. She would have liked to think that she wouldn’t normally let her nerves get in the way, but who was she kidding - she was almost always a ball of emotions and with Verosh it was only intensified. She was surprised she had kept it together so long already once she realized how much she looked forward to their meetings.

She could see the basket he was carrying and her mind was already rushing to imagine what was in it. She gestured to the basket and arched an eyebrow. ”Should we get going then? I’m interested to see what you packed for us.”

A small smile crossed Verosh's lips at Jhana's reaction. Maybe he wasn't the only one feeling somewhat nervous about an outing after all. Either way seeing Jhana made him feel relieved. Something about seeing her made him feel bolder and more willing to embrace the feelings rising in his chest. "Then I hope I'm not too early else I'll have to circle around the forest again to give you more time." He found himself replying as he shifted and studied her again, his gaze thoughtful as he fixed the basket on his arm again. Hopefully she wouldn't take him up on his teasing and the hybrid relaxed once Jhana suggested they start their outing. "I'm ready if you are."

His cheeks flushed slightly as he glanced towards the basket. "A variety of things. I hope you enjoy some of them at least." Verosh commented before moving past Jhana and gesturing for her to follow him. "I don't know how much earthling treats you've had before but I thought it may be nice to share some with drinks. Some of them can be rather sweet but it never hurts to enjoy them on occasion." While he spoke he found his gaze drifting about as he picked out their path and continued walking until an older tangle of vines eventually blocked the forgotten path. Verosh simply moved forward and held them back with his arm before glancing towards Jhana. "It's a bit tight but please go ahead so I can hold these back out of your way." The warrior stood, his arm tilted upwards with his elbow pointing against the tree while he held back the heavier vines and waited for Jhana to brush past him before letting go again. Up ahead would be the path that curved up along the cliffs and eventually came to a more open area that would allow them to see the night sky. Below would be a valley of tangled trees and gleaming crystals that actually had a stream cutting through, the sound of a waterfall faintly heard in the distance as the land dipped further down.

Jhana let out a nervous giggle at his joke about circling the forest before following along while Verosh led the way. "Sweets sound delicious." Even though she had grown up with her mothers near alkidike territory, when they were younger they had traveled back and forth between Jauhar and Tale. She hadn't had earthling desserts in a while but she could still remember the taste and how yummy they had been. She had no way to know if they were anything close to the ones of her childhood, but she was pretty confident she would enjoy them anyways.

She ducked under the vines Verosh held out of her way and felt her nerves ramp up again. They had to be getting closer to their picnic spot and then she was sure there would be plenty to talk about, making Jhana jittery. "So... do you come to this spot often?" Her nerves got the better of her and she felt like she had to fill the air with chatter. "I've never been out this way myself, which is a surprise with how long I've lived around here.

A small smile crossed Verosh's lips at the response. Hopefully that meant bringing sweets was not so terrible an idea after all. Verosh felt his cheeks flush as Jhana walked through the vines, her body nearly brushing against his with how close the tight path brought them. After walking a bit further along the hybrid stopped at a more open area of cliffs and spread out a blanket, the sturdy material covered in a spiraling pattern of vines and leaves. "I discovered it one day when I wanted some time alone." Offered Verosh as he took a glance around the small area, his gaze focused on the falling water before he found himself looking back to Jhana. "It become more a secret area for me whenever I needed a moment." Life wasn't always the easiest, especially with a male hybrid who fought to live with the Alkidike warriors, so he had taken to this secluded area like it was his personal sanctuary. And now here he was sharing it with Jhana, something Verosh had never imagined doing before meeting the blacksmith. He enjoyed her company and something about her eased his usually more prickly nature so why would he hide it from her? Especially not when he had certain thoughts floating about his mind lately since spending so much time with her at the forge.

"It's getting dark already so feel free to settle down and help yourself." Verosh found himself stating as he gestured towards the blanket before taking a seat and starting to take out the little pastries, drinks and the like which had been packed for the occasion. He found himself suddenly coughing when he noticed a fruit cut into rather cute heart shape and the hybrid quickly grabbed it and took a bite to try to hide the evidence. While he appreciated his family's support sometimes he wished they wouldn't be quite so supportive. Verosh felt his skin warm with embarrassment before thankfully something caught his attention and he found himself pointing to the sky. "Was that one of the stars already?" He asked before glancing back towards Jhana, "Did you see it?"

Jhana felt a blush quite aggressively take over her face when she realized the importance of the spot for him. He was sharing something with her that he always came to alone... She took a seat next to him on the blanket and felt herself suddenly even more nerved up. She had been stealing glances and looks at Verosh over the course of their agreement - and she had noticed that occasionally they were reciprocated, but she had convinced herself that she was just reading into things too much and it wasn't that deep. But maybe it was. "It's a very peaceful spot, I can see why you would want to keep it to yourself."

Her brain raced a mile a minute coming up with a thousand different ways this date could go before she snapped back to Verosh. One of the stars? She looked up with her mouth slightly open and tried to see what he was seeing. Before too long another one streaked across the sky, and then another, and then more clusters sped by in the darkness of the night sky. "Oh wow..." She trailed off, watching the stars twinkle in and out.

"Mmm, but I'm finding lately that sometimes it's better to share things with another person, especially when I enjoy their company." Admitted Verosh with a small smile towards Jhana, his expression softening as he realized he wasn't the only one that seemed nervous. Was it possible that he could actually.....could he? The hybrid opened his mouth as if to ask something before closing it again when another star shot across the sky. He had never seen an event like this since coming to Jahaur and the sight of so many stars shining across a clear night sky was amazing. After a few moments, Verosh found himself leaning back, his body angled towards Jhana, as even more stars started to streak across the sky. "Beautiful." The statement slipped from his lips but it wasn't simply about the stars because he had found himself watching Jhana as she enjoyed the meteor shower.

"Ah..." Verosh blinked with realization before he glanced back towards the stars almost shyly. "They say you can make wishes on the stars. Do you have a wish, Jhana?" He asked before daring to peek back towards her with a slight flush. His antenna twitched almost thoughtfully as he tried to piece together his own wish, something that he felt was becoming more obvious the more time he spent with Jhana. But did he dare ask her if she felt the same? Verosh was not one to shy away from a challenge, but suddenly he felt really nervous.

Jhana felt her skin prickling as Verosh spoke. The words ‘enjoy their company’ echoed in her ears as she tried not to look directly at him. She heard him say beautiful and she turned to face him, realizing that he was now looking at her.

Oh, a wish? Jhana had heard of things like that, and she believed in silly superstitions and saying like that all the time. She furrowed her brow in thought and realized she did have a wish. She looked back up at the stars and closed her eyes, swallowing hard before turning to Verosh again and leaning in to close the gap between her lips and his.

Hopefully the stars would give her luck.

Verosh found his gaze widening in surprise at the kiss. At first he had worried that his question had been somehow inappropriate, that she was upset and that was why she had closed her eyes, but the sudden twist was definitely something that Verosh found himself enjoying. The hybrid moved closer to Jhana, his lips pressing back against hers in turn, and eventually he pulled back slightly so that he could study her. Verosh's hand carefully reached up to touch her face, his gaze tender as he studied her closely. "I hope I responded to your wish correctly." He found himself stating, his heart racing as he tried to act brave despite his own nervousness. Another star crossed the sky above them as Verosh stood still and pondered his next words.

"If so then I think my own wish for tonight was similar." Verosh offered quietly with a smile. "I may not be the most romantic of warriors, but I do cherish you and want to protect you." A flush decorated his cheeks at the confession as he waited for Jhana's reaction to his confession. They had been spending so much time together at the forge that he felt like it was almost natural to be next to her like this. "Would you consider a future together with me, Jhana?" Could that be possible for the two of them? Honestly, Verosh felt like anything was possible after kissing Jhana under the stars like this. Why hold back now when he already knew in his heart what he wanted? All he could do was hope that Jhana would feel the same.

Jhana felt a hum escape her lips as his hand touched her face. She didn't think that being this close to someone could make her skin feel like it was buzzing but she felt like she wasn't close enough to Verosh. Their wishes were very much alike from the sound of it. "I would very much like a future together..." She trailed off. She couldn't believe that this date was playing out in such a perfect way, she couldn't have even imagined it going this well.

"What an incredible date." She commented, leaning in again for another kiss. Verosh's lips were incredibly soft and undeniably addictive. Jhana felt her heart thudding in her chest as she soaked in the feeling of being with someone she felt like she cared so deeply for.

A tender smile crossed Verosh's lips as he returned Jhana's kiss. "Agreed." He quietly replied as he held his companion close, his arms wrapping around her as the stars continued falling from the sky. Verosh had been so nervous, so worried about rejection but now he couldn't feel more comfortable and at peace. A breath of relief left him as he gazed towards the stars with Jhana.

"What a beautiful evening. " Verosh mused as he placed a light kiss on top of Jhana's head. "Thank you for making it so wonderful." Everything about tonight made him so hopeful for the future, especially now that he knew Jhana wanted to share her future with him. "Maybe...." He began after a quiet moment, his voice soft as he pondered his words. "Maybe one day we can watch shooting stars as a family. I honestly never thought about these things before but you've made me rethink things, Jhana." His cheeks darkened at the confession as he dared to peek at Jhana, watching to see how she would respond. Had he been too bold with his hint for potential blooms one day? Still despite everything Verosh couldn't help smiling. He supposed the future could wait while he truly just wanted to cherish every moment he had with Jhana tonight.

Jhana felt her eyes widen in a pop of surprise at Verosh’s words. ”A family…” she trailed off, chewing on the words. It felt fast… but it felt right. Jhana was one to fall truly, madly, deeply, and quickly into her feelings and a family was just the natural succession to love, right? ”I don’t think there is anything else I would rather do than to become a family.”

She thought of her own parents and their love story and enjoyed the idea of expanding their family tree.

”Can you imagine? Waiting for our blooms? Watching them open and becoming our children? How wild…” She was in thought, imagining all of the possibilities for their future together.

"It doesn't have to be right away." Replied Verosh with a flush. "But it would be nice to have one day." He admitted, his expression brightening at her acceptance of his idea. If anything this was a change for Verosh. He had never thought about falling for someone like this but here he was. I have no regrets. His expression was full of love as he listened to Jhana talking about the future.

"It would be wild indeed, but I would love to see it." Replied Verosh with a grin. "I'm certain they would be lovely blooms." Whenever Jhana wanted to try then Verosh felt confident that he would be ready. "Perhaps we should think about a home first, but I will follow you when the time comes." He offered with a smile as more stars shot across the sky as if sealing the promise.
