New Year, New Me

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Another year has passed in Tendaji, meaning a new opportunity for the residents to accomplish their goals and dreams. Typically, this is a time for setting promises to oneself and others on what to do in the year ahead. There are many different superstitions on how to make a New Year's Wish: some toss their written wishes into the sea, others will burn them at a shrine, and even more will whisper them to representatives of the gods.

No matter how one goes about doing it, all will take the time to ensure that their wishes and promises have the best chance to come true in the New Year.

[ What is your character's promise for the New Year? Go about their practice of setting their goals and dreams in the way they feel is most important. Maybe they go to the shrines, or wish under a star, or honor the god(s) they follow. The goal of this World Event is to make a wish for the next year however your character chooses fit. ]

WC - 750

Lately he’d been spending more than the average amount of time with his female friends. Ilkay had taken to hardly being home at all and when he was he was either just there to eat or to sleep and that was it. The move had taken him away from the few people he’d gotten to know and enjoyed spending time with. So it was a drag to him. The new place had so many pretty girls and a few attractive boys that he just let loose. Of course that meant less time for his family, more importantly it was less time for his little brother Koray. Deep down he’d felt guilty about leaving his little brother to fend for himself in a new place.

So when the new year came about he found himself sitting on the fence, literally, with his back against the corner post as it stuck up just a bit more than the others. It gave him just enough support that he wouldn’t fall backward and allowed him to position in such a way that he could look over the small side yard to the house they had gotten to live in. It was temporary but it was nice for what it was. A house. Not a home.

As he stared at the yard he thought about his own actions in the past months. They hadn’t been very brotherly. He’d strayed away from his path of being his brother’s protector and guide. It made Ilkay feel bad. Like he had failed to do the basic thing that all older brothers were meant to do.

“Guess I should work on that huh?” He said aloud to no one in particular. It was more for his own benefit really. Thinking it meant no one could hear it, not even the gods, right? So if he said it out loud for them to hear then he would be held accountable for it. At least, that is what he thought.

“I’ll try to spend more time with him again.” He closed his eyes after he said it, a smile forming on his face. He would certainly have to make an effort for that one. Ilkay would need to tell his new ‘friends’ that he wouldn’t be able to hang out with them as much due to prior promises. Koray would always come first anyways. “I wonder if he’s mad at me for leaving him alone..” His eyes opened just a little to look at the ground just below his feet. A breeze played with the grass and for a second he seemed mesmerized by it. “I don’t imagine he’s very happy with me.” But that was different than being mad. Could his adorable little brother even be mad at anyone? Upset? Sure. But mad? Ilkay had his doubts. Not because he didn’t think his younger sibling was strong but because he was certain that Koray had a kind heart.

“I should start with an apology then tell him I will spend more time with him again.” Ilkay nodded his head and moved his gaze up so that he could gaze at the clouds. There was enough in the sky that he could enjoy them taking random shapes. One looked like a Kinfa with the way the wind wisped the edges out. It was an interesting sight to behold. It also gave him an idea.

A colorful bunch of Kinfa feathers would be a nice present to give to Koray to make up for some things. It would also give his brother a few things to work with if he felt the need to be creative in the future. Ilkay thought about where he could go to get them. The market was a for sure thing but they did tend to get a little pricey with some vendors. “I wonder if the one shop is open this late in the day.” He mused to himself.

He finally decided to move from his place on the fence so that he could get motivated to do what he had said he would do. “Alright time to get moving then. Need to get some feathers for Koray and prepare an appropriate brotherly apology.” His head bobbed in a nod, his unruly curls moving wildly. Once his feet touched the ground he shoved his hands into his pockets and rolled his shoulders. With that done he started to walk toward the center of the small town they lived in now. He would find the market there.
