Theme: Hydrangea
Time spent: ~1 hour, probably less
Comments: Hydrangeas always make me think of rain :')
Tried to work on light values/contrast while just using one brush? It's weird not to have defined lines for stuff...pretty ambivalent on the end result, I would have liked more definition, but whatever LOL

anyway, sorry if colors are weird. i have flux on which makes everything tinted, and it's way too late for me to turn it off (blue light gives me headaches rip )

Comments: i tried to do something along the lines of a "grayscale" -> "color" tutorial i read a while back, but man....ugly colors...no definition LOL
i guess i just don't have the patience for digital painting, or much experience in it. maybe i'll try it again, when i'm not also trying to do hw haha
but i guess i should be glad that i tried! broadening my horizons and all? anyway, i don't want to look at this anymore so onwards and upwards to tomorrowwww

random character design, i think i was thinking of making her a beastmaster? vaguely remember that i used a pose reference, maybe from sailor senshi? that one deviantart account? anyway, i still think her design is cool haha
went down a little rabbit hole looking at where i used to post all my art. honestly, it was fun! used to do a lot more traditional art, which i kind of miss.
but also? it was a huge bummer LOL i feel like there were some pieces from over 5 years ago that look better than the stuff i draw today. in a way, i guess it's to be expected, since back then i would draw nearly every day/actually liked drawing, but now...not really?
they say that looking back at old art and feeling embarrassed about it is a sign of improvement, but i really...don't....i mean, other than a few obvious anatomical errors (and i'm still horrible at anatomy), i honestly liked most of it. i guess i should be glad i can look fondly on my old art? and i do think i've improved/gotten used to digital art more, which is nice.
but i just feel so stagnant. maybe i just need more time. who knows.
well, now that i've actually drawn it...
at least i've gotten faster? though it was just a sketch. if i actually wanted to line/shade it, who knows how many hours that could have taken...

Comments: gosh, i love all of these flower themes! way a great way to branch out (hah) of my usual "circle and five leaves" flower. but no snapdragon this time, since i wanted to draw a friend's OC!

well, i was going to draw my friend's OC but i lost motivation rip

a very quick, loose sketch. i'd like to work on some more time-intensive stuff, but. man.
well, whatever. not sure if this was good practice (due to how rushed it was), but at least i got a chance to work on backgrounds/landscapes/buildings!
would also like a chance to work on perspective. and more color-theory-esque stuff. i dunno ahldsfjkasf
the technical stuff isn't as fun, but i need to do them to get better...

would have gone back to finish the days i missed, but...this is my first time ever participating in a spirit challenge & i'm too excited :P
hope i did everything correctly orz
My OC, his alias is Jade!
He's a gentle-mannered merchant and information broker in his late 20s. Can hold his own in fight, but really more of a art, nature, and tea kind of guy.
Generally, he wears fantasy-esque hanfu, which is quite flowy, loose/has many layers, and androgynous (at least when compared to Western clothing).
Feel free to change up his hairstyle — but he almost always wears some eye makeup, tassel earrings, and a hair accessory.

not sure what i was trying to do, but i'm so bad at chibis....
i know many artists like chibis since they take less time than regular art, but man....chibis are my weakness...
