Reveon is a bit of an interesting addition to the growing family of Eevee and its evolutions, and is quite unique in that only females are capable of evolving into this form when the right conditions are met. Appearance-wise, Reveon is a quadrupedal mammalian Pokemon that stands above the average height of a medium-sized dog with short light lilac colored fur, dark bluish scar-like markings around its eyes, and orange band-like patterns wrapping around each of its lower legs. While its coat is said to be smooth and very soft, it is also quite cold to the touch. Aside from its small, rounded ears that are very divergent of the long, pointed ones of Eevee and its other evolutions, Reveon's most defining feature is the mane of long, thick bluish-black hair that falls along its back and frames its head, giving it a very feminine appearance.
This hair is constantly messy and seems to defy any attempts to straighten it out. No amount of brushing, combing, or shampooing and conditioning can ever hope to tame such an unruly mop, though Reveon would appreciate the effort regardless just for the sake of getting a bit of extra love and attention out of the whole ordeal. However, the hair can be freely styled however its trainer may see fit, from buns to ponytails and beyond, but a Reveon may only allow someone it trusts to lay even a finger on its mane. While this hair normally lays flat, if the Pokemon is angered or stressed it seems to suddenly spring to life as it defies gravity and rises up to hover in the air around Reveon's head. In this state, the hair appears to have a will of its own as it lashes out at anything that comes too close without prejudice. A strike from a Reveon's flailing hair has been described as similar to being hit by a cracking whip, and it's capable of leaving open slash wounds in the skin or even fracturing bone if there's enough strength behind the attack. As such, trainers are advised to keep their distance when dealing with a particularly upset Reveon, ideally calming them down from at least a few feet away with treats and praise before being able to safely approach.
What appear to be bone-like markings or protrusions span down its back, though whether or not these are just decorative spots or Reveon's actual vertebrae has yet to be confirmed. Its eyes are normally dark, blank, and pupil-less, but when stressed or aggravated they will flare a bright red and glow menacingly. Many local folktales and legends describe varying accounts about how locking eyes with a Reveon will allow it to glimpse into your own life, that it can see how much longer you have left to live down to the minute or even how you will eventually die. Some advise that if you happen upon this Pokemon while walking the streets at night, avoid making eye contact at all costs. It's rumored that if you meet its gaze, you will drop dead on the spot out of sheer fright as it forces you to realize your own mortality.
The 'tail' of Reveon is actually a gaseous incense that its body is constantly emitting, and the shape and intensity of the smoke changes depending on the Pokemon's mood. In addition, the aroma of Reveon's incense varies between people and Pokemon. The incense smoke itself has no clear defined scent, rather the aroma of it changes depending on the individual's perception and preference. Some may describe the smell as light and pleasantly floral, while others say its sharp, robust, and invigorating, and vice versa. To evil and malignant spirits, Reveon's incense is offensively pungent and nauseating, and works to repel and ward them from particular areas. There have been numerous stories of people suddenly smelling something bright and flowery while attending a funeral or catching a whiff of a particularly strong yet pleasant aroma in the waiting room of a hospital, yet not seeing any immediately obvious source of the scent. Chances are a Reveon may have been there, smudging the area with its incense to cleanse it of negative energy and keep malicious spirits at bay.
Behavior ::
Reveon are meek, reclusive creatures that prefer quiet and solitude above anything else. As ghost Pokemon, they constantly wander between the planes separating the mortal from the ethereal, the material world and the spirit world, and are able to make themselves visible or invisible as they please. Sometimes they take on a translucent, semi-solid form, other times they can appear completely solid or completely intangible. During the day, Reveon wander the world under the guise of invisibility, such that they can carry out their duties without being disturbed and to avoid unwanted attention. They tend to be quiet observers, watching people go about their daily lives from the shadows, and keeping silent vigilance over the dying and deceased while they spread their incense around to cleanse the area and ward it against ill-meaning presences that would try to disturb the peace. At night is when they will often show themselves fully, wandering about through silent streets, dark alleyways, fogbound rooftops, and other places where very few would be able to see them.
They are known to be what are called 'psychopomps', creatures whose responsibilities are to help guide newly deceased souls from the mortal plane to the afterlife. As such, Reveon provide the dying with a sense of reassurance and calm, giving them a lasting moment of comfort and safety to ensure that they pass on peacefully. In addition, they scour the world for wandering spirits who have yet to pass on, providing them with companionship and helping them to tie up any loose ends they left behind before they're finally ready to move on. However, due to their reputation for appearing near those who have perished and around particular areas that are notorious for being the sites of great tragedies, these Pokemon are often associated with calamity, misfortune, and loss. In some areas it is considered to be a bad omen if you happen to come across one, especially at night. The fact that their appearance is considered to be terrible and frightening by many certainly doesn't help either, as such their existence is often a lonely one.
It's because of this stigmatization that Reveon will very rarely show themselves to humans. If by chance you happen to spot one it will quickly turn itself incorporeal and flee, so fast that you might think it was just a figment of your imagination or your eyes playing tricks on you. Every so often, however, they may choose to approach a particular human they have taken a liking to in hopes of being adopted. This is usually unsuccessful, however, as they are usually rejected and shunned out of fear because of their eerie appearance or due to the many stories and rumors of the ominous symbolism associated with them. Though they are feared almost universally by humans, they can sometimes still find companionship among them on occasion. Typically with those who also have regular dealings with death and the dying such as grave-keepers, priests, morticians, and dieners (morgue workers), who may gladly allow a Reveon into their homes or workplaces to help ward away bad mojo and evil spirits. Sometimes such people will even go so far as leaving out food or trinkets on their doorsteps or near alleyways as gifts in hopes of attracting one or enticing them to stick around, and as a way to encourage them that their presence is welcomed.
If they happen to find themselves accompanying a trainer, Reveon act as quiet motherly figures, silently doting on their humans and caring for their needs even if they may not necessarily realize it. Because it is a vessel for negative energy and constantly seeks it out to feed upon, Reveon is highly attuned to emotions such as anger, fear, sadness, hatred, and hopelessness, and will absorb this spiritual power into itself and in return give off calming, peaceful vibes through the aroma of its incense. It will monitor its trainer's emotional state on a constant basis, feeding off of the negative for vitality and helping to ease stress and pain while encouraging positivity and uplifting its owner's spirits. Many Pokemon will also happily accept a Reveon's company for this exact reason, that or they may just really like the smell of its incense!
It uses the negative energy it absorbs from humans and Pokemon alike not only as a food source, but as a means of strengthening itself and its attacks in battle. If it finds itself in a tight spot in combat, as a last resort Reveon will unleash all of the excess negative energy within itself and enter a state of raw, unbridled wrath that pushes it physically and mentally to its limits. Be advised, while in this state Reveon can just barely tell friend from foe, and as such may even strike out at its own trainer in its reckless fury if they get too close (though it'll definitely feel guilty about it afterwards). Once all of its energy is expended, Reveon falls into a kind of unconscious dormant state that'll take it at least a day or two to recover from. There doesn't seem to be any lasting negative consequences in the aftermath aside from the Reveon feeling very lethargic and drowsy until it has enough energy to recover, but long-term effects of repeated usage of this wrathful state has yet to be fully studied.
On the occasion that a Reveon may develop a deep, close bond with its trainer, it may allow them the ability to get a closer glimpse of its own being, its very soul, sharing its deepest secrets with them and establishing a sort of link between their spirits. This allows the trainer and the Reveon to ultimately become 'soulmates', and it is considered a privilege granted to very few lucky enough to earn it as a sign of the Pokemon's complete and irrevocable trust. Soulmates are always aware of where the other is at any given point regardless of distance, and can freely share their thoughts and feelings with one another across this bond. Once this link is formed, very few things beyond death can sever it. Most of the time, however, they're simply content to enjoy a close friendship with those who are willing to accept them for however long it might last.
Communication ::
Being a ghost type, Reveon is capable of communicating with its trainer through telepathy or through physical means at its own discretion. Because they are usually very timid creatures, they will typically not attempt to communicate with their trainers unless they feel comfortable enough with them, or perhaps even not at all in some cases. That's not to say that they are fickle creatures, though. Due to their kind being generally feared and ostracized by humans, they're often reluctant to try to engage in conversations with them. They do feel much more comfortable around other Pokemon, though, and are willing to speak freely with them than with their own trainers most of the time.
Most would describe the physical voices of Reveon as soft and whispery even when they're speaking at a normal volume, but are capable of transitioning into low, deep, and growly when they're angry. However, Reveon tend to speak this way to humans only on very rare occasions as they're not too fond of using their physical voices for speech, usually preferring to use telepathic communication most of the time during their sparse dealings with people.
Reveon are also quite fond of music, and on a particularly quiet night when the air is still and the moon is bright they may find a spot where they can be left alone and sing their hearts out in the lonely darkness. People have described hearing what sounds like the chilling yet beautiful voice of a woman singing while walking city streets or echoing out from somewhere in the woods at night. While Reveon tend to gravitate more towards funeral dirges, lullabies, haunting chants, and sad songs, each has their own individual tastes and preferences for what kinds of music they like most, and sometimes will even adopt certain ones from their trainers as well.
Here is a sample of what is believed to be a Reveon's song that was caught and recorded one night in Snowpoint City by a passersby who wishes to remain anonymous.
Breeding & Families ::
Because their particular species are female exclusive, Reveon are unable to breed with their own kind and as such must seek out partners among other Pokemon, mainly other evolutions of Eevee. For them, mating hardly requires complicated courting rituals or harsh competition over males, though Reveon are more likely to choose males who are strong enough to provide food for their young and can keep them safe from predators. They will give the male of their choice a gift as tribute, usually a food item or a trinket that's a favorite of theirs, and in turn he will do the same. Reveon will rarely choose more than one male throughout their existence, and when they mate it's oftentimes for life.
Reveon are very protective and caring mothers, helping their kits to grow and develop through feeding them both physical food and positive energy. Typically the male will take up hunting duties while Reveon will stay back to guard their home from intruders and predators and even play with the kits, only occasionally stepping away to forage for berries and vegetation nearby.
Sometimes a lone Reveon will take in small orphaned Pokemon to protect and care for them, and even among its trainer and companions it may choose to adopt smaller teammates as its 'babies' and becomes a matronly figure to them. Regardless of if they have a mate or not, these Pokemon have very strong motherly instincts and certainly aren't picky about who they choose as their 'family'.
Eating Habits ::
Though they are omnivorous, Reveon typically don't feel the need for physical sustenance, though they will not turn down a tasty treat if it's being offered. They prioritize spiritual energy over any tangible food, usually in the form of strong emotions siphoned from other beings or absorbing the residual power from ghosts it defeats. Reveon is a kind of spiritual 'sink' for negative energy and emotions, and in return it gives off calming, positive energy through its incense tail. It uses the negative energy it consumes to bolster itself and for channeling into its attacks to further strengthen them, as such it seems to share a kind of mutual symbiotic relationship with its trainer. By helping to give its owner peace of mind and take away their worries and fears, in turn Reveon can grow stronger over time as it has a consistent and steady stream of spiritual energy to feed off of.
However, if by chance such resources are scarce in a particular area, Reveon will happily accept anything given to it for food from meat to berries to vegetation. While it doesn't like to have to hunt for food, Reveon will do so if there are no other options available. In such cases, they prefer to target small or slow moving prey such as Rattata, Pidgey, Pidove, Bidoof, and Finneon. Their preferred method of hunting is to lay low by turning incorporeal, catch their prey off guard, and incapacitate them with a strong attack. Alternatively they'll use Hypnosis or Sing to lull them to sleep and carry them off to a safe spot to eat.
Habitat ::
Reveon prefer to hang around and stake out areas where negative emotions and energy are most common, as such they usually stick close to towns, cities, and other urban areas. They like to stay close to places where newly deceased souls tend to spawn more frequently, such as funeral homes, hospitals, and even residential areas as some individuals may prefer to spend their final moments at home and surrounded by family. Any place in the world where death or tragedy has happened and wandering souls are abundant, you may find a Reveon there if you're lucky enough to be able to spot one, they are known to be extremely elusive and reclusive creatures.
Alternatively, Reveon will also prowl around cemeteries to search for wandering souls in need of guidance, as well as helping to keep malevolent spirits and rampant ghost Pokemon in check. Though they are often feared by most other humans because of the terrible symbolism often associated with their presence and their overall frightening appearance, gravekeepers and priests will usually welcome a local Reveon quite warmly and may even keep them around to ensure the cemeteries are consistently cleansed of evil spirits and mischievous ghosts.

*Soul Link - Employing its spiritual power, the user establishes a temporary bond between it and its target, sharing pain or weakness it feels with its opponent.
For the next five turns while Soul Link is active, any status ailments and negative stat changes inflicted on the user by attacks or status moves with such effects will also be reflected back on the opponent. This does not bypass typing immunities. Poison type Pokemon cannot be poisoned, Electric type Pokemon cannot be paralyzed, and vice versa. In addition, this does not affect self-inflicted stat drops (i.e.: the Speed lowering effect of Hammer Arm) or status ailments caused by held items like the Flame Orb and Toxic Orb. However, if such items inflict a status ailment on the user in situations where Fling is used, Soul Link will work as normal. This is a Ghost-type status move, and only affects a single target.
