There are many superstitions and beliefs in Tendaji, often originating from the culture and gods of each individual region. Wherever one goes, they might find a new routine or practice based on the region they are in. However, there seems to be one thing that all Tendaji residents believe in - the power and beauty of a meteor shower.

The rare celestial event is seen as a blessing, and this one just so happens to have appeared right when the New Year began. Oh what luck and what a great omen - this must be a sign of good fortune for the year to come.

[ How does your character react to the meteor shower that is lighting up the sky? How do they see this omen impacting their life and year to come? Explore the thoughts and experience either alone or with a friend. ]

Azreal had been going through a series of moods lately at the manor and the family had definitely noticed. His kind hearted Aunt had noticed the changes the most and had taken the chance to tell him about some spectacular event coming up in the hopes of lightening up his mood. Talisia had even given him a map with a nice location where he could go and see the stars falling from the skies, an event that Eresin had noticed during his stargazing studies, and then she had basically shoved him out of his room so that he could go enjoy it. Azreal huffed at the time but now that he was actually walking along the cliff, a basket on his arm prepped with goods for the meteor shower, the teen was feeling slightly excited. It was a beautiful evening, the skies were clear and he could already imagine some of the stars moving. Would it be childish to make a wish on one? Perhaps but Azreal was tempted to try for the sake of his friend...not that he would ever admit such a thing to her of course.

"Alright well this should be a nice and quiet evening." He murmured to himself before opening the basket and spreading out a worn quilt along the ground, some freshly baked goods spilling out from a smaller basket tucked inside of the larger one. While there was a village nearby, just down the path and towards the right, Azreal's spot was more isolated and he had opted to avoid any potential crowds and so his Aunt had thought of adding some food just in case he was hungry later. "Tally would pack sweets." Azreal rolled his eyes at the sight but a smile did tug at the corners of his lips while he continued unpacking a lantern and a leather journal so that he could write down some observations about the skies tonight. For now though he simply picked up a piece of charcoal and quietly began to sketch some of the mammu grazing in the valley across the way, their enormous forms lit by the gentle glow of moonlight as the last rays of sun disappeared beneath the horizon.

Ixora knew tonight would be something special. Her mother didn't usually get excited about things. Her parents said tonight was a night that dreams could come true. She was excited, ready to settle on the nearby hill a little ways outside of the town they were currently staying on the edge of. Though usually cautious, she knew this place was safe. So she went down the path to wards the nearby cliffside to find a good place to watch the night sky.

A soft blanket wrapped around her shoulders, she made her way up. That was where her father said would be the best spot to watch the event. Though in the years before they would do things like this with her, they wanted her to have some independence now that she was getting older. she hesitated as she topped the hill. Was that a stranger? She was sure she had seen everyone who lived in town. However, an unfamiliar figure sat before her. "H-hello? she called, hesitantly, pulling the blanket tighter around herself and trying to sound brave.

Azreal pursed his lips as he did a few quick lines of charcoal against the page. Soon enough the shapely form of a mammu with a few younger ones started to appear and Azreal smiled before sudden noise made him drop the piece of charcoal in surprise. Someone was here? Blinking, Azreal slammed the journal closed and left it on the blanket and turned to see who was approaching him. His shoulders relaxed once he saw that it was a younger figure, no one that he knew, and Azreal moved away from his blanket so that he could pluck the piece of charcoal from the grass. "Hello there." He called out softly before he started to truly notice her appearance. Who was this strange youngling? Azreal was a hybrid himself and he was accustomed to hanging out with other races, including his best friend who was an Alkidike, but this girl was completely different from anyone he had ever seen before. Was she just visiting the local village? It hadn't been that long since he had visited the smaller town so wouldn't he have noticed or heard about her already?

"I uh...hope you're not lost, right?" Azreal tilted his head as he crouched a few feet away from her, his azure gaze studying the girl thoughtfully. Thankfully it wasn't too cold since they were closer to Sauti here along the southern borders of Zena but it was still dangerous for a youngling to be out alone like this. His normal response to shove away strangers was quelled as worry gnawed at his chest. I suppose I should keep an eye on her and make certain that she's got some family nearby before doing anything else. And he still had the stars to watch....a thought that crossed his mind as another shimmering light darted across the night sky overhead.

Relaxing only slightly when seeing that this stranger was just as startled to find someone as she was, Ixora let herself relax just a little. She stood as tall as her frame would let her, reminding herself of her proud heritage. He didn't seem much older than she was. Could he be much of a threat? It looked like he had been writing, maybe.. She was curious about him. It would be rude to just walk away, right?

"No. I'm not lost," he thought she seemed lost? She frowned a little as her eyes darted from him to the sky each time a streak flashed across the sky. Both of them seemed to have planned to watch the stars tonight.. though with the basket and blanket spread out, she wondered if he was planning on meeting someone. Had she interrupted something? "W-I've been living nearby," What all should she tell him? She'd definitely never seen him in town before. Their current village was mainly Ice Earthlings, and he looked different. Not that she was one to talk. "I just thought this would be a good place to watch the stars", shifting a little on her feet, she added "I can find another spot, though". Maybe she would move farther along the cliff. Or find a clearing closer to town.

"Okay, good." Azreal nodded though he kept a curious gaze on the younger girl. So she wasn't lost and was just looking for a place to watch the stars? Fair enough. After all that was why he was also here. Azreal paused thoughtfully before letting out a soft sigh. "There's plenty of room here if you'd like to join, I suppose." He offered finally as he scooted away to give the youngling more room. The teen glanced back up towards the sky, almost as if he didn't mind whether or not she joined, but he was listening to see if she did take his offer to stay. If anything he wasn't one to be openly nice but he also wasn't one to push someone, especially a youngling, away into the darkness. He would deal with the hassle of escorting her back towards town after the meteor shower but he also wouldn't force her to accept his help either.

As another star streaked through the sky, Azreal found himself reaching for the basket that was by his legs. He didn't glance back towards the youngling but instead focused on pulling out a soft roll for himself and some extra sweet pastries. "Seriously why did my Aunt pack so much food? There's definitely enough for two here." He mused quietly with a frown before placing some on the blanket and keeping one in his own hand to munch on. If anything his new companion could feel free to help herself if she opted to stay and watch the stars with him. Even if the stars weren't enticing enough on their own the food could be fairly appealing, especially with that sweet scent from the pastries.

Ixora relaxed more as they talked. So he wasn't waiting for someone? She was a little relieved when he offered to let her sit... At least she wouldn't have to find a new spot. The show in the sky should really be starting soon. Plus he really did seem young and harmless. And... sweets? As soon as he opened up the basket and started pulling out the pastries, she moved closer and lowered herself onto the blanket next to him. Her own blanket fell down from around her shoulders as she let go, forgotten for the moment.

"Thank you," she reached for one of the pastries he put down, picking it up and savoring the sweet smell as it came closer to her. "Your aunt?" the small girl tilted her head slightly at the phrase, barely taking her eyes off of the stars. "She must be nice, sending so much with you." After taking a bite, she remembered her manners. "My name is Ixora" she added after swallowing the treat.

Azreal lifted a slight brow before nodding. "You're welcome." At least the youngling had decent manners. Others would have been much louder or more eager to devour the sweets without even expressing thanks. Then again it wasn't as if he ever spent much time with little ones considering that he was one of the youngest at their house. His brother most definitely would have shoved food in his face before perhaps muttering thanks through a face full of crumbs. His blue gaze shifted towards the sky again and he nodded once more. "She's very sweet and perhaps spoils us a bit." He acknowledged quietly with a small smile.

"Ixora, hmm? I'm Azreal." He replied as he settled on the blanket so that he could get a better view of the stars as they spoke. "You must be fairly new here. I don't live in the village directly but we do come down almost weekly for things since we live nearby." Most would know about his Aunt and her animal sanctuary nestled along the border, especially since she helped often with any hurt animals that the villagers brought to her.

The sweets had definitely put Ixora into a good mood. She finished her first snack and folded up her blanket to create a makeshift pillow to lean back on. The slight chill in the air wasn't anything she couldn't handle with clothing alone. Her mother spoke of sisters sometimes, but always with some sadness. Ixora decided not to dwell on it too long and picked up another treat.

Azreal. It was nice to know her new friend's name. "We just moved in a few days ago. My dad is a merchant. He brought us here with him," her tone was a little proud. She hadn't been many places yet. This was really the lowest she'd ever been from the mountains. She'd been too small to travel before now, and her parents had decided Zena would be the safest place for her to get through her first years. At least from other races.

"Ah, I see." Azreal nodded almost absent mindedly as he found his gaze drifting away from the girl and back towards the meteor shower. It looked like the stars were starting to fall more frequently now and he found himself pointing towards each one as they streaked through the night sky. "I had the feeling that someone with your unique looks would have stood out had you lived here for a while. It's a good time to arrive considering you got to witness this event. He commented as he took another peek towards her, his head tilted almost thoughtfully. She had some ice blood but he couldn't really pinpoint what else there was. Was she Aishan like Zakia? There truly was so much that he had yet to see in this world and Ixora was living proof. Perhaps one day he would get to see more....hopefully.

Azreal flushed slightly when he realized that he was staring at the youngling and he quickly pulled his gaze away. "I hear that you can make wishes on shooting stars. What do you think?" He asked as he shifted on the blanket and pulled another pastry from the basket. Azreal chewed lightly on the fruit filled pastry as he kept studying the sky some more to watch out for the stars. Would making a wish truly do anything? Wasn't it a bit childish? But at the same time it couldn't hurt to make a quiet wish to the stars, right?

Ixora finished her second treat, watching the stars falling. It really did feel magical. Even Azreal seemed entranced. Listening to him, she felt a little embarrassed and flushed lightly. Was unique looks a good thing? "I don't know if the neighbors talk about me and mom. They watched us when we first got in," her voice was a little quiet again. "Dad says it's because there aren't many Elaria like us around. They haven't gotten used to us since we're so new here," she rested her arms across her ribs and kept her eyes up.

Glancing over at him, she hardly noticed that he'd been staring. "I think my mom planned us coming here in time," she said thoughtfully. "She says nights like tonight are magical. That shooting stars are dreams are coming true," she finally smiled again. She hoped that it was true.

Azreal nodded. So she was an Elaria? He would have to look into the Elaria when he returned home since he didn't recognize the name. Maybe Zyphire or someone would know more about the mysterious race considering how much they travelled the world. "It is a smaller area. Most can't resist keeping an eye out for new families when they arrive so yours must have really caught their attention. Give it some time and they'll adjust." He offered her a small smile of encouragement since he could slightly understand how the feeling. Even though they had lived at the sanctuary since he was born Azreal still felt like the locals liked to keep an eye on his family whenever they came down to visit town. Everyone was fairly welcoming and nice, but they were very eager to pick up on any potential gossip. Azreal was certain that once the locals learned to trust Ixora's family that it would be very similar for them.

"Magic, hmm?" Azreal let out a small chuckle as he watched another star streaking through the night sky. "I suppose we better not waste this rare chance and make some good wishes then." He mused as he pointed out another star moving above them. Maybe he could wish for adventure? Good fortune or the like? The teen pursed his lips thoughtfully. What did he even want to wish for? Could he reserve a wish to redeem later? Did it work like that?

"I hope so," Ixora thought it was reassuring that he seemed to know what she meant. As they stayed, she knew would want to explore more. See the new city and the area around. Make some new friends. Maybe those are the sort of things she would wish for. For this city to be a good experience. This was a new opportunity to see something other than snow. Already, she had seen a lot of different things.

She watched him point out more stars. "I think so. It's a chance to ask for anything we could want," she gestured to as if trying to point out the whole sky. "A lot of stars means a lot of wishes, right? I think we can wish for more than one!", the idea of dreams coming true was exciting. What exactly did she dream about, though? Friends, people to explore the world with. Safety and acceptance for herself and her parents. To grow taller. Maybe a bigger family someday. Maybe she'd like to be able to keep a pet, too. Something soft to run and play with her on her adventures.

Azreal couldn't help but to smile at the girl's bright enthusiasm. "Fair enough. Let's spend the rest of the evening make as many wishes as possible then." She was too innocent and adorable for him to be grumpy towards after all. So why would he ruin her fun? Instead Azreal settled on the blanket and prepared to point out a star whenever he spotted one falling so that they could make their wishes. It seemed that there were going to be a lot of wishes being made tonight and Azreal was thankful that he had actually come prepared with extra snacks for the night. Perhaps his aunt had some sort of special sense to know that he wouldn't be quite so alone as planned tonight. Either way it was refreshing to be out and away from his worries for once and Azreal found himself actually smiling more than he had in days. Maybe, just maybe he would make some real wishes here and there tonight too. It wouldn't hurt to try, right?

"There goes another." He commented as he pointed once more before glancing back towards Ixora. "Once the stars stop I will escort you home, okay?" The last thing he wanted was for the youngling's parents to worry about her, especially since he felt responsible now that they had spent time together. What sort of person would he be to just let a youngling go back on her own towards town in the dark? Either way he could do that later but for now they could just relax and enjoy the meteor shower together.

Ixora had grown quite comfortable for the night. She was glad she'd been brave enough to speak up rather than running back home or going somewhere else. Her grin widened when Azreal seemed to agree with her idea of ensuring many wishes. "Yeah! It's a perfect night for it," she settled in, feeling quite proud of herself tonight.

"I never knew this many could fall all at once," her voice reflected her amazement. The idea of the night coming to an end made her feel a little sad. However, her young body still needed rest and was beginning to betray her for tiredness. "Ok. Our house isn't too far," she glanced back towards the way she came for a moment before looking back to the stars. They seemed to be slowing down as the night went on. She was pretty sure that there had been an opportunity to make any wish they could think of. Now, the stars seemed to have to an end. Just as gradually as they started. "Thank you for keeping me safe, Azreal," she gave him one more smile before being delivered safely home.
