Prompt 6: There's something on the roof. It has no energy signature, so it can't possibly be a youma or any powered vigilante, but something's on the roof. It sounds like it's clopping around. If you go outside and investigate, there is a deer on the roof. A fully sized deer, staring down at you. The moment you blink, or look away, it's gone; if you investigate further you will find that there are tracks left in the snow atop the roof--but none around the house. It looks like it just showed up there--and just disappeared.
The hell was that noise?
At first the Mauvian had assumed she was hearing an odd ambient sound in her game, but once the combat had come to an end and the orchestral music had returned it became clear that there was nothing around her that would cause 'that' noise. She lifted her paws to pull the customised headset from her ears and peered up towards the ceiling. At first she'd thought it was mice, she did have sensitive hearing after all, but she had quickly realised that mice didn't clop (they scratched) and this was most assuredly not something she was accustomed to. Besides, if there were mice she would have chased them out by now... Mauvian she might have been but she did have standards.
Hm.
Her eyes narrowed as the odd little 'clops' continued and when they seemed to have no intention of leaving she promptly set her headset down and hopped off her desk. She hadn't even afforded her companion a 'brb', and instead had swept open the window of her room and stuck her head out. Ears swivelled here and there, nose wrinkled against the cold breeze and every now and then she fought back a sneeze as she was bopped with snowflakes. However, if she had been in any doubt that she was hearing things she was certainly sure she hadn't now. She could hear it with much more clarity outside and it was on the roof of all places.
Regula liked Christmas but she'd watched him put the lights and decorations up, he hadn't had any moving ones the last time she checked. With that in mind she had carefully edged onto the window sill and with her usual feline grace she began to ascend the snow covered ledges until she was finally close to the rooftop. A final 'oof' of effort and she lifted her forepaws onto the tiles, only to come face to face with a large pair of beady eyes. Suffice to say the young Mauvian was lucky she hadn't howled in surprise and fallen to her doom, miraculously she had remained calm and she replied in kind with several blinks of her own.
It took a little more time for her to come to terms with the fact that she had company.
It took her a little more time to realise it was a deer.
Wait, what?
Her slow blinks turned into a double take and before she had truly come to terms with what had been on the roof it had simply vanished. Had she been imagining it? It had seemed to real and it was with a frown that she pulled herself onto the roof to inspect. Sure enough there were little hoof prints, but a glance down towards the garden indicated that there was nothing down there. Santa wasn't real, there were no sleds, so what the hell?
Magic in this city was weird.
It was the simplest conclusion she could make and while Regula may have had a much more festive response to the surprise visitor she seemed a little less impressed. Several grunts and 'oofs' later and she had managed to return to her room, shaking the snow off her paws and slamming the window shut. It wasn't as if the thing had done any damage but really, of all the things to put up there, a damn deer? Eh, she'd take that over insanity inducing mist she supposed, but she'd be less appreciative if it came back later and woke her up.
