Honestly, Cavansite didn’t think she would ever come back to this place again, but...here she was. Back up on the pretty Page’s wonder, with the lovely sea stretching as far as the eye could see. “...You brought me up here again, Ein? May I ask why?” She was honestly touched.

There was the urge to take off her boots and go running into the water again, but that would make for a very cold return to the city, so she refrained...for now at least. “If I didn’t know any better, Ein, I’d say you liked me! Considered me a friend, even.” The words were half teasing, but she...wanted them to be true.

It would be nice to have a friend on the ‘other’ side...and maybe...she could convince this pretty one to corrupt...or…

Cavansite shook her head, repressing a sudden grimace. While that would be nice for her...to have a friend again, perhaps someone...well.

She couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to give up a place like this...and she very well wasn’t going to force her. That...just wouldn't do.

“It’s still so beautiful…”

The Cosmos Page shrugged. "I don't know," she replied almost absently. "Perhaps it's because I don't like having to talk in circles or feeling like we're being watched. At least here we're able to actually have a conversation without having to worry about someone eavesdropping on us or landing you in trouble again." Learning that the General had a youma in her brain made Einhornhohle shiver despite how warm it was on her Wonder.

"But yes. I guess, in a way, I do consider you a friend. You're the only one I've brought here and now you've visited twice." Had things worked out with Harvey and the whole roommate situation, she would have no doubt eventually told him about this place. Unfortunately, things did not pan out that way and she was left with a full mortgage and barely making ends meet because of it.

"If you'd like we can go to the beach and sit in the sand again," it would be nice to bury her feet beneath the surprisingly soft sand and at least it didn't squeak when they walked on it like the sand at the reservoir; that was annoying. "Or we can just wander around for a bit."

"Up to you." This place was of a decent size and she had yet to find all the entry ways into the core of her wonder.

She hadn’t expected to actually be called a friend, and honestly, the word touched her more deeply than she was willing to admit. “I um. Consider you a friend too. This is the first Cosmos wonder that I’ve ever been to...and my favorite place to visit. I went to one on Mars once but…” Cavansite hesitated and shrugged. “Truthfully, I didn’t feel welcome there at all, and there’s some part of me that’s quite sure that the Knight who took me there would have liked to leave me behind, both in the city, and then on the wonder itself...she…”

Hated her, was the obvious phrase. Her previous mentor and friend hated her now. Well, that wasn’t an issue that she had to deal with. She was over Cinnabar. Over Tanais...she hadn’t seen her in ages so...it wasn’t difficult to be over her…

“Let’s go and sit in the sand? Honestly, there’s no small part of me that wants to play in the water but...I’m afraid I would get quite cold when we went back to our dreary winter, don’t you think?”

Friends. The word sounded like a complete blessing in her mind.

The Cosmos Page didn't miss the obvious pause or the disappointment in Cavansite's voice. However, she didn't want to poke or prod at a statement or ask for more details on something the General obviously didn't want to talk about; nor did she want to slip up and accidentally admit that she had felt the same way the first time she was kind of forced to bring her here. She too had considered, albeit briefly, to leave the Agent behind.

"Only if we didn't dry off first, but we can just sit for a while," Einhornhohle replied. Even without a map, she knew the safest path to take and could guide them there easily.

Sun warmed her skin as the two of them walked along the grassy hillside, down the rocky path towards the long stretch of sand beneath them. A light breeze carried with it the salt scent of ocean waters and ahead of them she watched as a wave crested and crashed upon itself before rushing up the beach towards them.

"A part of me wishes that there was life here, maybe butterflies, or little rabbits." Ok, perhaps no bunnies, otherwise she'd return one day to the place overrun by hopping fluff butts and no greenery left because all the flowers and anything knee-high or lower would be eaten. "I'm just glad I don't have to worry about seagulls." God that would be embarrassing to bring someone here only to have one of those nuisances poop on them from above. yeah, no.. she was good leaving those back in Destiny City and far away from this beautiful place she considered a second home.

Cavansite was sorely tempted to reach for Ein’s hand. It felt…natural, that wanting. As though this was...well. That wasn’t important. “It would be kind of neat if there were animals...there aren't’ any? Seriously?” That seemed a little sad. A place like that...you’d think that animals would thrive. The air was clean, the water was clean...there were no people to hurt them, eat them...but…

“I suppose...if there wasn’t an active food chain...things would get kind of messy, but…” Cavansite trailed off and her eyes lit up. “Gosh, it’s just…” She reached out and took hold of the Page’s hand, dragging her down towards the beach. “Come on! It’s just there waiting for us, I…”

She wanted to be in the water.

“Let’s build a sand castle together, do you want to? There’s nobody and nothing to knock it down but us!”

Einhornhohle seemed visibly surprised when her hand was suddenly grabbed; however, she did not pull away and instead allowed herself to be hurridly led to the beach. "The only animal-like creatures I've seen so far are these statues of unicorns frolicking." Most were still intact as if they were frozen in a moment of time. However, a few had been broken or crumbled over time she supposed.

The Page of Cosmos stumbled a few times as the terrain shifted from rocky soil to soft sand beneath their feet and her toe caught the front hem of her dress because she lacked the foresight to lift her skirt up.

Eventually, the two stopped close enough to the ocean where the water raced up the beach and almost touched their feet. "I-if you'd like, we can build a castle." There were no tools they could use to carry water or wet sand so they would have to use their hands unless one of them had a cup-like object stowed away in their subspace pocket. Otherwise, perhaps if they dug around in the sand a bit they could find some shells to use.

“Oh, the next time I come up here you have to show me those, I bet they’re beautiful.” Cavansite sounded so cheerful, trying to help Ein keep her balance, and only letting go of her hand when they reached the perfect spot.

She was almost like a child again, falling right to her knees and beginning to dig in the sand, laughing. “Hell yes.”

It was kind of annoying though, digging in the sand with her hands, and after a moment, the General brightened, calling her weapon to her hand and breaking off the head of the spear, tossing the pole and gently working to cut off her shoulder pads. They were...vaguely shovel shaped. They would make digging a bit easier and keep some of the sand from getting all nasty under her fingernails.

Handing one of the pads to the Cosmos page, Cavansite grinned. “We should bring some beach toys up here next time, it’ll make building castles much easier.”

Next time. Like this was going to become some kind of routine.

She almost hoped that it would.

Einhornhohle seemed a bit surprised by the make shift tool but ultimately nodded her head in approval as she accepted the temporary shovel. "It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep some stashed away in our subspace pockets." Might be nice to bring along a floating intertube or raft to see where the underground river took them. The only thing they'd need to worry about was potentially drifting out to sea and away from her island. However, if that were to happen she could just teleport them back to Destiny City.

"While this place is more or less a second home, I admit I'm a bit scared to explore it alone." She scooped up a mound of wet sand with the shoulder pad.

If something happened she would be s**t out of luck, there would be nobody to rescue. As far as anyone back home would know, she would simply be a missing person; nothing more than a portrait pinned on a wall for however many months or years before becoming a cold case. "There have been a few times now where I've found myself wandering aimlessly. Even though I've never explored the new area, my feet seem to know where to take me." She left out the mention of memories of what she could only assume to be her past life that kind of also guided her way. The last thing she needed was for the General to believe she was crazy.

Cavansite seemed pleased that they were actually doing this. And even more pleased that the pieces of her uniform were working so well. “I can see that. You’re all alone here. As beautiful as it is, it can be a little creepy but.” She hesitated and gently nudged the page with her shoulder. “I’ll come explore with you whenever we run into each other. And I’ll see that I have sand toys next time. We can leave them up here and make great castles every time.”

Maybe she would do some research on how to make lasting sand sculptures. People did it, she knew...but...she thought that glue might be involved and...that seemed a bit...excessive.

“I suppose I really can see the appeal of having a Wonder to protect...it’s a sanctuary of your own. Like my um. My office in the Negaverse. Only. I have an old, lumpy couch and not a beautiful beach like this.”

Einhornhohle remained silent for a moment, simply taking in the horizon as her mind wandered aimlessly.

This place really was her own little sanctuary, untarnished by modern amenities or trash littering the soft sand. There was no need to worry about light pollution blocking out the beautiful night sky. If anything, her wonder was peaceful, even if the quiet nature of it became unnerving at times. At least the only footprints here were those left behind them as they made their way towards the beach.

"I don't mind if you want to bring toys but we should make sure to take them back to Destiny City when we leave. I need to maintain separation between my civilian life and whatever this is." Ein gestured to herself, the dress she wore, and the gold tea light lantern beside her. Whatever responsibilities she was supposed to shoulder when she picked that damn thing off was a forgotten thought. Life was hard enough as is, why add monsters and a war she didn't quite understand into the mix?

There were times when she swore her wonder whispered sweet promises of answers, but no matter how many times she visited there were none to be gleaned.

"I don't understand." The Page shifted so her chin could rest on her knees. She sighed then with a shake of her head, as if she were trying to dismiss the comment as nothing, she buried her feet under the warm sand.

That wouldn’t be too much of an issue...she could just keep them in her subspace pocket...but...the idea of maintaining separation between lives...that…

That was kind of a joke.

“That sounds fine to me! I’ll get some fun things and keep them with me, so that we can make some fantastic sculptures the next time I come to visit!”

Cavansite hesitated and tilted her head, looking at the page with some question in her eyes. “...Ah...what don’t you understand? I’ll see if I can clarify….or is...is it just. I don’t really have a place to live other than my office so. If that’s the part you don’t understand...I suppose I can see why.”

"I'm a Knight of Cosmos, and I know that Cosmos herself is still alive. Yet..." Einhornhohle paused and for a moment she worried her chapped lips between her teeth. "In the past three or so years she has never sought me out. I'm her knight and yet I doubt she even knows I exist."No amount of kind words, encouragement, or explanation were ever granted. "Perhaps my expectations are simply too high. At least senshi get talking cats to give a general idea of what's going on." A thread of irritation weaved its way into her voice as she continued to speak.

"Whatever happened in the past is in the past." My life is simply too busy to care anymore.

"Honestly, there was no reason for my awakening other than to survive a youma attack that nearly killed me. I'm no fighter, that much even you know from before. So by default that makes me either a liability or an easy target; either way I'm screwed." Plus, it didn't help that Delilah, her intern at the theater and incidentally the Senshi of Doves, flew the coop for a lack of better phrase. Once her semester was over, the girl was gone and so too went her connection to strange connection to magic and monsters.

“Oh.” Cavansite frowned slightly, thinking the words over in her mind. “I...suppose I didn’t...think of it like that...I mean. We get mentors. I had a General when I first started, but she disappeared...and then I was on my own...she came back though. WHen I was a General myself...we had…”

She trailed off and looked out across the water. “We got engaged but then. I suppose. I was getting up to a little treason so...I cut off communication with her...but...we talked again...It…”

She shrugged and sighed. “Anyway. I try to be a good mentor to the people that I bring in...I try to be there for them...so they don’t go astray or...feel lost, like it seems that you do.” Cavansite hesitated, half wanting to offer the Page a place in the Negaverse, half wanting to just say that she could be a part of something better but…

...Perhaps she didn’t believe that it was better anymore.

“Maybe you should find a knight who can help you out? I met...a pretty okay Cosmos knight once...which is saying a lot for me. I used to...ah. Cosmos knights were the bane of my existence for a while there…”

But then came you.

Einhornhohle's gaze slid over to the General, her expression was a cross between puzzled and curious.

"Why were we the bane of your existence?" She asked with a raised brow. "If they're anything like me then it's impractical outfits to fight or run in and weapons that are better suited as a shelf decoration than anything."

The cosmos knight looped a finger through the handle of her lantern and held it up. There was a candle inside that was unlit and she felt half tempted to find a match to see what would happen if they tried to lite it. Would the candle melt or would the wick refuse to burn because of some magic she couldn't even use to defend herself?

"Of the very few knights I've met, I think we're the most useless." Then again that was probably because she was projecting her own sense of self-worth onto others she'd never really had a conversation with.

Cavansite gave a soft hum and shrugged. “I don’t know. I. Met a few of you and lost a fight a few times. There’s one who…” She shrugged and made a face. “...Who’s a real brat, let me tell you. But...I just. Decided to blame all of you.”

The first person that she had killed had been a Cosmos page…but that wasn’t something she was ever going to confess to Erin...that...just seemed like the very best way to ruin. this friendship...or whatever the term was for this.

“I don’t think you’re useless. Pages in general are kind of useless...but you’ll get stronger. Everyone’s pretty useless to begin with. Even in the Negaverse...I started with a stupid costume fairy wand...if you want to talk useless...that pretty much takes the cake.” She laughed softly and shook her head. “...It broke once. And I thought I had ruined everything...thought I didn’t have a weapon any longer. I was. Like I said, my mentor disappeared on me but. Luckily someone set me straight again.”

Cavansite chuckled again and glanced once again towards the other woman. “You’ll get there, Ein. And you’ll be amazing when you do.”
