Prompt 10: Poinsettias are common during the winter seasons, so it isn't unusual to see them decorating windowsills and local establishments. What is unusual are the unique Winter Star Poinsettias that seem to have accidentally mixed into the bunch. They look like ordinary Poinsettias reflecting a bit of glow from nearby lights--only, the leaves themselves are emitting a soft, silvery glow. They look like they are covered with a fine morning dew, only with fine silver glitter peppered in to give it a unique sparkle. They seem to have gone unnoticed by most of Destiny City and the landscapers, and it's not clear how these plants were selected, but anyone with a keen eye might recognize them as the catastrophe of Destiny City Botanical Garden's 2016 Winter Extravaganza. Thankfully, these variants are far less dangerous than their counterparts, however, these plants have a strange pollen that acts like an allergen and can cause agitation, oversensitivity, and sneezing to anything with much of a strong smell. Anyone who comes into contact with these plants may also find themselves suffering from flu-like symptoms such as fever, coughing, fatigue, and nausea and no medicine will relieve it, but the symptoms gradually fade. The leaves of the poinsettia are sharp and can sting like a papercut, so be careful! ...If you're worried about an all-out attack again, it might be a good idea to destroy these poinsettias--if you can manage to do so without getting caught.
The winter holidays were usually something that Briar enjoyed, even with the annual weirdness that tended to be something of a staple for the city–
Although to be fair the annual weirdness wasn't just for Christmas, but rather was something that seem to affect most of holidays in Destiny City.
Briar wasn't sure if Halloween had been affected this time around as he hadn't actually been in Destiny City.
It had been his birthday, his 18th, and his parents had sprung a surprise trip on him - one that had turned out to be surprising fun.
The normality had been a little strange though.
This year's winter holidays, however, had been shaping up to be not-so-great, what with Briar discovering that he apparently had an allergy to poinsettias of all things given the sneezing fit that he had be afflicted with when he had got too close the bunches that his mother had set up around the house in order to give it a festive feel–
And it had been followed by Briar going down with a bout of the flu, or at least something that had felt very much like flu, even if the normal remedies hadn't seemed to have done much for it.
Briar was finally feeling more like himself however, even if he still found himself sneezing around strong smells and still found himself getting tired easily.
He'd kept quiet on that last part when his parents had asked him for what had felt like the nth time whether he was sure that he was up to going out to check out the Christmas stalls though as he was fed up of having to stay in bed and look at the four walls of his room.
'Sides it wasn't as if Briar was planning to stay out tooo long or do more than wander around the Christmas stall and maybe visit his favourite bakery and pick up some hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies.
