Quote: Prompt 4: The mail is always bad this time of year, but it seems like something's gone a little extra wrong. An old letter arrives shows up with no return address, no name on it; it's impossible to tell who it is from or how it got there, given that it might have arrived in your mailbox, your front door, or maybe it even just showed up inside your house. If you open it, the letter is dated from decades ago and contains some surprising information; it is a letter lost to time and contains some secret. The content of the letter are up to the player; it might contain a confession of love, an admission of guilt, the secret of some crime--no matter what the letter contains, it leaves you with news to reflect on. Do you try to seek out anyone mentioned in the letter? Do you investigate or try to hand the letter over to someone else? Does the content of the letter reflect your life in some way? ...Do you have to worry about someone breaking into your house to leave strangely coded messages? Derrick grunted as he moved the groceries he was carrying up to the door of their apartment. He had taken too many and he was now regretting it, really wishing that he had let Key take one of the bags like she had offered. He still had some pride though and wouldn't admit defeat and managed to just make it to the door before having put a couple of the bags down for a quick rest while he fished through one of his pockets for the apartment key. It was a day where they had to go out to actually get their groceries. He had wanted to have them delivered or at least ready for pickup, but the store had been swamped and they had both had to maneuver around everyone to get the last minute gifts and other things that people always scrambled to get a the moment. They had only barely managed to make it out before an even larger crowd of people had entered the store, and Derrick felt tired as they walked back, and all he wanted now was to put the food away and cuddle on the couch or something with snacks and just relax for a bit before moving again. As he was digging around for the key, he looked up and saw a letter sticking out of the door... somehow. He wondered if that meant that they needed to seal the front of the door with some better material. As he looked at the letter, which appeared to be quite old, he could hear Key coming and as he turned to look at her he asked, "You weren't expecting any letters were you? Ah, I almost have the door open too..." He muttered the end, still looking for the key.

Coming up behind Derrick she wasn't surprised by the sight, not with the bags on the floor or pressed to the door. She expected it really. He'd taken too many bags, not letting her help, and now was admitting defeat without saying it, as far as she was concerned. Instead of pointing it out however she went to open the door.
"No, why?" Glancing around Derrick she spotted the letter. "No, and it looks old or weathered." Like it had been run over a few times and perhaps even left out for a while. Taking the letter she went to help with opening the door.
"Next time we're ordering our groceries as soon as they open - to beat the rush." She had not enjoyed dealing with the crowds of people, having to dodge little old ladies with carts far too often for her liking. She had not enjoyed most of the shopping trip, it was why she tried to make grocery shopping a once a week affair.
Pushing the door open she scooped up some of the bags and nudged Derrick to head in first. "Do we want to open the letter and see what's inside?" She had yet to see who it was addressed to, but she would, she just didn't know if they should even go opening such an odd looking letter. It looked entirely out of place.

"Agreed." He said as he followed her inside with a few bags. He could tell that even she had been annoyed with it. He didn't blame her, it was only unusual because he was usually the one being an outward grump about it. But they were finally back home and could relax for a little bit before needing to move onto other chores. "I think it would be better once the groceries are all put away. Might as well open it since it appears to be to someone who used to live here. Might help solve a murder or something, you never know." He said as he put the bags down and started to put everything away. "Why does grocery shopping have to be so ridiculously crowded?" He was mostly asking himself, though if Key heard then he wouldn't mind her joining in his annoyance. "I swear, more places should either have pickups available or deliveries. Those should be standard. People are crazy to think that grocery shopping is fun."

"I doubt it'll be something that important." Teasing her partner gently as she set the grocery bags on the counter top. Slowly, on tip toes, she reached into the bags and started pulling things out. Setting item after item onto the counter she would put them all away once she had everything out of the bags, and the bags were put away since they were reusable.
"But you are right, it might be something important. If we have to we can talk to the landlady and see if they know where the person lives now?" She offered while gesturing to the letter. "Whoever it is, I didn't read the name."
Hearing Derrick grump and gripe about grocery shopping had the white haired female laughing - loudly. It was just so damn funny to hear him like this. It wasn't unfitting, he didn't like crowds, but it was still so amusing to listen to him like this. "I agree! And they had a sale on soup. I almost got hit by a few carts." And she hadn't even been going after canned soup! She's just been on the isle and got caught up among the hoard of people looking to get some sort of major deal, she supposed ten cans for ten dollars was indeed a good deal, and getting past the group had taken far too long.
"The sale on pasta also, on same isle was just bad...both ends were a mess." But she'd needed to pick up some rice for them, something she liked to keep in the apartment. "I think more places should offer delivery and curbside pick up. For people who don't want to deal with the madness." Like herself and Derrick. "I'm signing us up for delivery and we'll just do that from now on."

All of the bags were inside now, and Caliban let out a sigh of relief that he no longer had to go out there... at least for the rest of the day. He walked over and picked the letter up again. "Well, might as well see what it says when we can read it." He said, moving over to attach it to the fridge as a reminder. His cheeks flushed a bit when she laughed at him, but he knew that she wasn't being mean. And she had almost been beaten as well! "The pasta was the worst. It would be so much easier if people weren't trying to assault others to get out of the way just so they could get something 2 seconds faster."He grinned and walked over to Key to put her into a quick hug and give her a quick kiss on the lips. "You are the best for doing that." Anything to avoid having to go into those crowds again. After a moment or so he went over to help with putting the rest of them away, looking forward to a moment of rest.

"They act like it's going to vanish on them if they don't grab it at that exact moment." Rolling her pale eyes she followed it up by shaking her head. "I agree with them - the sale is good. But it's not enough to get me behaving like they were. They were all over the place and pushing and shoving." And blocking the isle with their bodies and their carts. It had been an utter mess.
Smiling into the kiss she gave him a hug as well. "Trust me - I know I'm the best. I'll set up an account for delivery and download all the coupons I can as well." And hope she could work coupons as well. It wasn't that money was tight, not like some people, but she also wouldn't mind saving where she could. It all helped.
"Let's get this all put away quickly. I wanna curl up on the couch and rest after that trip through the grocery store." Because she was never doing that again!

He couldn't argue against that! With the two of them working together, the groceries were put away relatively quickly and they were now curled up on the couch. It was then that he noticed the letter on the nightstand nearby and reached out to grab it. "Want to open it together?" He asked grinning. "Or I can open it if you want. I don't know why, but it has me curious. I just hope it isn't anything bad." It could have been a Negaverse trap, though how they would have known that the Apartment was occupied by two people in the Order, that would be a bit ridiculous, even for the Negaverse. Sleet Tempest Snape apologies for it not being very long! Can have him read the letter, but it's just going to be pretty basic with what it says lol

"Yeah, we should open it together." There was no telling what might be in the letter, and she supposed it was good to check together. It might be something good...or something bad. "Yeah...that's why I think it's best if we open it together - if it's something bad." She said, agreeing with her partner. It could be a lot of things but she was curious, and she knew Derrick was as well.
"Go on, open it and lets see what arrived for us." Or rather for someone else but at their door. It was sort of theirs - right? "We can deal with whoever it's for if possible as well then. Let them know about it."

"All right then." He said with a grin and ripped open the envelope. He would wash his hands after this, the envelope was kind of gross considering how old it was. Inside of it appeared to be some sort of... secret code? He couldn't really understand it and it didn't appear to make sense. It used English letters but the way they were put on the page... they were all jumbled up. "Do we need a cipher to read this or something?" He sighed and held the letter to her. "If you want you can take a closer look at it, but for now I feel like cuddling on the couch more." He, playfully wiggling his eyebrows a bit.

Leaning in close Key took a glance over Derrick's shoulder. " Maybe? I don't know. It certainly doesn't look like it might be some other language." Though she supposed she could be wrong, there were how many languages in the world. But it didn't look like there was a reason for why everything was all over the place as it was. It didn't look like any normal sort of language.
"We might have to see about it...if we have time to sit and try to decipher it." If they had the time, as she suspected it would take a good long time.
Laughing she poked him once. "Put that letter down then and we can cuddle." Though she was certain he didn't mean to just cuddle.

"Yeah, sometime later when we aren't so tired from having to be around other people and our other activities..." He said, bringing her onto his lap and kissing her deeply after he had put the letter down. Later. They would look at it later maybe. Or else they could just chalk it up to some little kids trying to have fun with their own coded language. Sleet Tempest Snape Le fin *insert saxophone music here*
