All things considered she'd managed to 'train' her wraith well in recent months and she had been reasonably proud of that. It no longer took too much, it didn't knock anyone out, and she had been left very much to her own devices. However as the winter months had rolled in it became rather apparent that she would have been better served by practicing to perform one or two other skills too. For example, one could argue that as the colder weather began to bite at her heels she should have experimented more thoroughly with that odd little pocket that they all seemed to have at their disposal.

A coat, some gloves and even a hat wouldn't have gone amiss this evening and as she sat on the bench and considered the options available to her she did have to wonder why their magic didn't account for this possibility. There was no way that many generations ago all war was fought in fair weather, was there? It seemed entirely impractical and given that a smart strategist would simply attack when it was cold it seemed unlikely that any faction would leave themselves exposed in that manner.

Nevertheless the senshi didn't see why she had to sit out here in the cold. She certainly looked pretty in her attire, it was striking and made a statement, but it did nothing in this weather and to be entirely honest she wasn't even part of this war. Well, not really anyway, she had yet to be dragged into either sides grievances and to be entirely honest she didn't even like the brutal and parasitical nature of the Negaverse.

Yes, yes, she knew she required energy too but she had at least tried to function in a slightly more symbiotic capacity. None of this heart stealing and torture that the worst of them seemed to exhibit, and she certainly wouldn't be leaving anyone out in a cold evening like this either. If she was cold she could only imagine how others might be when thoroughly tired and left to the elements.

It was like stealing a homeless person's shoes.

It lacked tact.

She tucked her hands into her sleeves as she peered out across the street. She had chosen to linger in the retail districts among the more eclectic shops and as such it was quiet (they rarely stayed open late), but close enough to the bustle of the busier commercial district if she felt so inclined.

It was on this bench, on one of the now quiet pathways, that the Senshi could be found. Brow furrowed in thought as she considered what her next course of action should be, given she was erring on the side of 'go home' for the evening she might not be there for very long, but she was still a few minutes out from any final decision.

Carlisle was still getting used to a lot of things. Not having a tail or horns were high on the list of strange and new differences in his life. A new identity that he could actually live in, actually go outside during the day with, was also strange and exciting. The moment Camelot offered to give him his last name, that of Darrow, had been one of the proudest and most meaningful ones of his life.

Second only to purifying, of course.

The new Knight was eager to help Camelot in anything he wanted to do, though this little gift giving thing was cuter and less serious than he was expecting. They were soldiers in a war, after all, but he supposed part of that was taking care of each other. Bringing a little cheer was a good thing, and he was eager to see if he could make someone smile with it at least. Anyway, he was still patrolling as normal, he just had a small bag of wrapped presents with him.

He felt an aura, but not one he was expecting. Sighing, he moved toward it, hopping over a fence with ease and landing without falling over this time. Without his tail and wing for balance, he was still figuring out the limits of his body. It had been just the same when he was first corrupted into a half youma, though this was much more exciting than that had been. That, really, had been a nightmare.

But it was over now. Finally.

"Taking a break, eh?" he said evenly as he wandered out of the alley he'd ended up in. He saw the senshi sitting on the bench, the source of the aura. "Looks cold."

Shaowei had been one of the luckier souls and had yet to experience hostility from either side of the field. She had been warned of the possibility though, both Order and Chaos could potentially turn on her and while she had the fortune of pleasant encounters in her past, that didn't necessarily mean that this trend would continue. Therefore when the aura hit her senses, one that was of greater power than her's, she had cause for some concern.

Her magic was getting better, more reliable, and in general she knew it wouldn't backfire anymore... But when it came to a disparity between her powers and what she assumed was something akin to an Eternal, she wasn't so sure. Self preservation would have told her to run at one point, or at least hide in a more isolated location until she had assessed the risk but this evening speed was not in her favour.

The cold had a way at nipping at her toes in a manner that convinced her not to move particularly quickly.

Fortunately she wasn't greeted by hostility so much as a more conversational approach. One that was greeted by a raised brow as she turned slightly on the bench to peer over her shoulder at Carlisle. If she was right in her initial observations then he was a Knight, a rarity in these parts and something she had very little experience with.

"Cold would be an understatement," she admitted with a weak smile. "I'm a bit woeful at locating my coat," she added.

"But I hadn't actually 'started' anything either so I wouldn't call what I'm doing a break," she pursed her lips. "Procrastinating is probably better, weighing up whether some things can wait and a warm bed is the better choice for the evening, you know?"

At least she wasn't causing any trouble, for the time being Carlisle wouldn't need to be too concerned with any messes nearby that might need cleaned up!

(tossing in a prompt)

Prompt 1: Destiny City has its fair share of infestations--rats, youma, seasonal monsters...There's no shortage of unpleasantries. But, for the first time in a while, there's a pleasant sort of infestation: along with the winter chill and a steady stream of snow, it seems like a herd of small, fluffy white rabbits have overrun the city. They aren't menacing or evil, they're just everywhere. They seem strangely domesticated; they are sweet, curious, and friendly creatures that will eat anything you give them. They always seem cold to the touch, and when they shake, little snowflakes sprinkle off of them. They can show up just about anywhere, either alone or--often--in pairs. They tend to wander off on their own but they seem to appreciate anything warm and will cuddle up to steal body heat.

"Well, I've got something that can help out with that." He opened the bag he had slung over his shoulder, producing a medium sized box and offering it to the cold looking girl. He did not really mind what side she fought for, as he was well aware of how things could change from one moment to the next, even when one was not expecting it.

Things had been very strange for him, after all, but he finally ended up where he wanted to be.

"Here, it's a gift from the Royal Knight Camelot, to anyone that might be a little cold this holiday season," he chuckled, shaking his head. Camelot and his ideas. Still, it was a nice gesture. The present was wrapped in red and green, and contained various items that might help on a cold night. This one had a scarf in it, and some gloves, along with a book and some packets of hot cocoa.

Something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye, and he turned his head as something white shifted in the snow. It was almost invisible, save for the movement, and when it stilled he almost lost sight of it again.

A present; for her?

She blinked several times as the Knight handed her the wrapped gift, taking it in both hands to observe it before she cautiously opened it. She wasn't sure what she was expecting, nor was she sure why this 'Royal Knight' would think to go about this festive season in such a manner... But then again, sometimes understanding peoples' motives could be hard.

"Is he Santa?" she asked curiously, her smile deepening as she pulled out the scarf and then the gloves, arguably the very think she needed to restore a semblance of feeling in her extremities. "And would that make you his elf?" she added with a grin. It was a convenient coincidence that the colour of his armour matched, but she didn't mean any harm by it.

"So, you're giving these to everyone, even people like me?" she added curiously.

Her train of thought was momentarily broken though, as he'd caught sight of something and she elected to follow his gaze towards whatever he'd seen . 'Nothing' about covered it for a moment or two, all she could see was snow in his line of vision, and then she saw it too. Something bopped, then something else bopped, and after a moment of delay two soot-like pairs of eyes turned round to stare at her.

"Ok, full disclosure those aren't mine," she added and lifted the book up to inspect it.

Wait, had they always been here? She hadn't sensed or heard anything nearby and normally you could hear something crunching if it was in the snow. Captured by this train of thought she returned her gaze to the original pair of eyes and had now been greeted by at least two more pairs.

"Uuuh..."

Carlisle chuckled, nodding his head.

"Of course! Tis the season, right? Anyway he's uh. He's just a nice guy, really. Wants to make sure everyone is taking care of themselves, and each other. Doesn't usually matter what side you're on, especially to him. We're all people, after all. Even when we're not. I wasn't."

He had been a monster, not too long ago, and Camelot still cared about him. Enough to give him a shelter under the library, and tend to him when he was badly damaged by the Negaverse. And of course, something far more important. A gift and debt Carlisle would never forget, and spend the rest of his life working to repay.

Even if Camelot said he didn't have to.

"Oh. So what are they then?" He blinked at the little rabbit things, realizing there were actually quite a few of them. He was pretty sure he knew a youma when he saw one, after being half one for so long, but that... did not really look or feel like one to him. They were cute. Little... snow bunnies. Not that he had ever seen them in the city before.

Stranger things had happened there, though. He wasn't worried just yet.

"Wait, what?" she gave him a quick look from the feet upwards. She'd been focused on the odd rabbits but she had been listening and his remarks had caught her attention. For all intents and purposes he looked very much human now and she couldn't quite fathom what he might have been beyond that. Her brow had furrowed at this point and she did afford him a proper stare rather than a cursory glance.

"You weren't a person before?" she asked. She'd go back to his friend at a later date (maybe), but for now her curiosity was piqued. She'd never met something or someone 'non human' that she hadn't had to kick in the head. Did this mean that he had been a part of the Negaverse at some point? She knew that they did something to people now and then that rendered them not entirely human, that explained some of the 'monster' traits she'd seen.

...She hadn't yet discovered that pure Youma were humans as well.

"And I think those are rabbits - not that they're supposed to be around here, I don't think the city had an infestation of fluffy bunnies before but I am starting wonder about some of the comments I've heard about this place lately..." She admitted.

"Well, no, not all of me. I was corrupted by Chaos. Well. Further corrupted. I served as a Negaverse soldier, before I was corrupted even more into a youma. I was half that, half General, but I lost my civilian life. It took a while, but I worked with Camelot and he helped me to purify. That's why I'll do whatever he asks. I'm the sword to his shield now, though he really doesn't need one. But just keep that in mind when you're fighting a youma or a half youma. They might not be that way because they want to. Not that I think you'll be tracking any down like we do, but."

He sighed, still not sure who he would react to encountering other half youma now, especially if they were that way by choice. His had always been a bad thing, something he loathed and was forced to live with, but some accepted that kind of Chaos eagerly.

Happily.

The warning about delving too deeply into Chaos was on the tip of his tongue, but he was not sure he was in a place yet to be a living cautionary tale. He was still adjusting to his life as a knight, after all, and all the perks and pitfalls that came with it. How different it really was to no longer have a wing or a tail, or to be able to walk in the sunlight and talk to strangers.

"Well, the rabbits are cute, at least. Not youma, I don't think, but never hurts to be a little careful around weird new things in this town... anyway, I've probably kept you long enough. Stay safe and warm out there, huh? And don't cause too much trouble."

She didn't quite know what to say to that one, but what did one say to that to begin with other than to offer condolences? In the space of a few words she had found out that the origin of Youma was decidedly nefarious and more curiously, that there were opportunities to save at least a handful. That didn't mean she wouldn't defend herself if need be, youma seemed to have little love for her as was... but that did lead to other questions.

For example, were her wraiths comprised of something similar? They were born of chaos too, but generally speaking, they were a touch less violent unless provoked and in a particularly 'bad' mood in Mirror Space. Food for thought to say the least, even if she didn't necessarily know what she would do with that information - maybe treat her own wraith with considerably more care?

"Quite the change in scenery," she replied after a moment and smiled. With the bunnies refraining from exuding any significant energy signatures, she would have to agree with his assessment in regards to what they were for now.

"But..." her smile deepened. "While I'm not necessarily doing anything constructive I suspect you may have other people to bestow a nice surprise on," she pointed out. "So I think it would be more fair for me to say I won't keep you longer, at least you're doing something useful with your time," she mused and leaned down to the bench to pick up the book.

"Thank you for these, I'll be sure to put everything to good use for you and your friend Camelot."

FIN!

"I am on a quest to bring presents to anyone I can find tonight! I appreciate the thought. Here," he moved to take out a couple more presents, not too many but offered them to her. "If you wanted to try and do something with the rest of the night, you can hand these out. No pressure to do it or anything! Just if you were bored."

He chuckled, then nodded his head, grinning ear to ear with how successfully the evening seemed to be going so far. He could see why Camelot liked to do this kind of stuff, even when it seemed simple or silly.

If it made others happy, even just a little, then maybe it was all worth while at the end of the day. Camelot's sappiness was rubbing off on him, maybe, but he was not upset about that.

"Alright, have a good night, okay? It was nice meeting you! If you ever need me or Camelot, you can always look for us around the library. Best view in the city." He waved, hefting his bag of gifts over his shoulder again and wandering off to continue his small, but meaningful, mission.
