Quote: Prompt 1: Destiny City has its fair share of infestations--rats, youma, seasonal monsters...There's no shortage of unpleasantries. But, for the first time in a while, there's a pleasant sort of infestation: along with the winter chill and a steady stream of snow, it seems like a herd of small, fluffy white rabbits have overrun the city. They aren't menacing or evil, they're just everywhere. They seem strangely domesticated; they are sweet, curious, and friendly creatures that will eat anything you give them. They always seem cold to the touch, and when they shake, little snowflakes sprinkle off of them. They can show up just about anywhere, either alone or--often--in pairs. They tend to wander off on their own but they seem to appreciate anything warm and will cuddle up to steal body heat. Goodness but these bunnies were everywhere. Little white buns hopping all over infesting the city, and for three days Leslie kept William inside for his winter break, watching for asigns of peril, but, when he finally saw one hop up to someone on the sidewalk and beg for attention, Leslie decided they must be tame, soft, and calm. Or acted it enouigh to be safe for William to meet a bnunny and touch and pet as little children werre wont to do, and so hew buncled William up in his pretty She-Ra coat and gently led him outside. "Come along now, William." Leslie cooed gently in his smooth and even tone, softened by love of his son. "The bunny rabbits don't seem like they're bad. Let's see some, alright? There's some in the front yard. And we'll offer then some lettuce too, if you like." Bunnies did love leafy greens, after all! And it was a positive experience for his precious onwe, he was sure. Mind... He also suspected William's mother and his best friend would've been out on day once, but that was when William was staying with her.

William had been watching the bunnies from the windows every chance he could get. They were like cats! But fluffier, with bigger ears and shorter legs and rounder bodies. Okay, there was a lot not like cats, but it was the best he had besides squirrels! When his father decided to usher him out finally, the little boy was ecstatic. Clad in a coat fit for Adora [so he himself said!], scarf around his neck and hat firmly on his head, he toddled after his father, grinning.
"Have you ever pet a bunny, Daddy? Are they soft? They look soft! Ooooo, the dark kind! The super crunchy kind is...bleh." Someone did not find much to love about iceberg lettuce.

"The dfark kind, hmmmmm?" Leslie afforded his son a smile as he rummaged, withdrawing a ziplock of romaine and iceberg lettuce before kneeling. The snow was cold, tthreatening to soak through, but for his precious son? He's catch pnumonia to make him happy and well rounded. Carefully, Leslie withdrew a great big leaf of letytuce before handing it to his son and smiling as a few of the little rabbits took notice of the pair, moving over with great hops as their powerful legs kicked up snow and the biggest one looked up at Wiolliam, a pair of babies behind the larger rabbit with noses twitch twitching as they moved to huddle in for warmth. "As for how soft bunnies are, well... I've never poet one before. I esd dcsred of the giant bunny your mommy had, but she said he was very soft." Leslie never told his son he was the big strong one growing up. Lying to his son taught the wropng lesson, plus... He knew he'd get outed. "Be gentle now, bunnies scare easy, like the squirrels you like to feed." Leslie said soothingly. One baby bunny yawned, and flopped against his leg.

William took the lettuce from his father with a bright smile. "Yeah! This kind!" The little boy was careful to move slowly, crouching down closer to the bunny's level and slowly offering it the lettuce. Slow and small worked best with little creatures, right? After all, everything was so big and scary to them! Like whenever he lost his father's hand at the mall or a big store! He knew he wouldn't want someone big being all fast and scary around him!
"Hi. This is for you. Daddy says it's full of good stuff."

The bigger bunny stretched towards William's offering, long and fluffy, little forepaws raising with utmost grace befiore slowly, she began to nibble a few moments. Her eyes remained on the child only a moment before she dropped to all fours and hopped to huddle against his knees, reaching for the lettuce again as one of her paws rest on him to brace herself. Leslie watched with utmost caution, regarding the rabbits with caution until he realized the smaller ones were pressing into him, and Leslie crouched lower, the bunnies snuggling into him as he opened his mouth but a moment, then closed it, offering them each a small leaf looking fgar more dumbstruck than his son. He knew they seemed friendly and safe, but thias was almost tame, and he remained as still as a deer, before looking to William. "I believe," Lesie said softly, careful to not speak loudly or let his voice crack at rthe army of adorablenesss. "That she wants to warm up with you, William. Let her smell your hand -- you might.. Be allowed to pet."

"Aaaaw." He carefully offered the rabbit his hand, slow and making sure he didn't spook her. "Hi, ma'am. I am William. Daddy named me after an oooold poet!" Despite his excitement, he kept his voice down. Like when he was trying to not spook a new kitty. "It is cold out here, huh? Even with your fur." Poor things...he wanted to help, however he could! Even if he was still a kid.

The mother rabbit nibbled, brown eyes focusing on the little boy with the delicious treat she got to nibble. She was cautious and considering before slowly wedging herself on William, trying to snuggle in to cuddle while she ate. It was cold! So very ciold, might the nice giant with the tasty greens help? He seemed very cuddly wartm, and her nose nuzzled hias hand eagerly, trying to climb into those arms. Cuddles, now!Leslie watched, brow arching until the younger bunnies tried to climb him as well, and experimentally he lifted one uiin an arm, letting William see how to support the bunny as it wiggled into the man's arms, giving something of a content sigh as it's sibling began to try climbing frantically. Leslie chuckled, and reached to scoop the second bunny up before the moment drew his accent. "Ach, 'tis like when ye were three, William. I think.. The rabbits wan't for attention!" He said, SDcottish accent singsong and gen tly melodic.

William was surprised by the bunny's insistence on cuddling him, the boy moving his arms to hold the bunny gently and safely. "Ooooh, you are reeeeally cold, aren't you?" He kept one hand sorta-petting her as he held her. "Don't worry, Daddy! I'm being veeery careful, like when you showed me how to pick up kittens!" He made cooing noises at the mama bunny, trying his best to not be big and scary. Just warm and welcoming! "Should we call the animal people? So the bunnies can always be warm?"

The bunny seemed to relax in his arms, nuzzling into him to soak in that good, wholesome warmth and maybe the cuddkers and some more lettuce too. She was quiet before wedghing in and sticking her nose up to sniff William's chin, little nose twitching before just one littler bunny kiss escaped gratefully. Such a good boy! Yews, she liked thisa one, this one was hers now. Leslie smiled a bit, understandingly. William was a good boy, gentle and considerate of the little ones. The babies in his arms squeaked and cuddled as Leslie worked to form his answer, and finally, he found a good one. "Well, William, they're bunnies and no' other animals. They mi' not adopt tha' rabbits to a 'ome like ye want. Their 'omer for now seems ta be our yard. But!" And he smiled gently. "We can come ou' an' feed an' cuddle them e'ry day, so long as they're healthy." Ugh! Hee was so embarressed his accent came out, too. Really, he needed to work on elocution in these situations.

"Aaaaaw." He giggled at the bunny kiss. "Well...we can take care of them then!" He cooed at the little bunny, offering her another piece of lettuce once he could get a hand free. "Don't worry! Daddy and me will take gooooood care of you and your babies! Do we have something they can use for a house, Daddy?"

The mother bunny stretched and nibbled away placidly, happy to cuddle and dote as she cuddled in, and Leslie held her bebies, humming thoughtfully for William's sake. Finally, he spoke gently, smiling. "Bunnies like to burrow, William." Leslie explained. "But our yard is good for bunnies to burrow in and you can visit, remember, once a day. They also have lovely thick fur to help." Leslie smiled softly, kneeling as he offered more treats to his son as the babies stretched for more. Yummies!

"Are you sure, Daddy?" He took the treats to pass to the mother bunny, looking rather worried. "I know sometimes it gets reeeeeally cold, and I just..." He frowned, then offered another leaf to the doe. "I hope you guys make a home soon. Before it gets too cold. Being cold is no fun, and not good for mommies or babies!" He pet the top of the bunny's head. "And I want you all okay!"

"Bunnies get cold but they're made to handle cold. They're smart bunnies." Leslie soothed. The doe was relaxed for the moment, nibbling and making wuffling noises as she nibbled. The babies were far squirmier, done being held and fforcing Leslie to put then down as he worked to acquire his voice and elocution, and they hopped towards the boy, sniffing for treats contentedly. "We can visit every day, though." Leslie promised, sighing relief. "I promise."

William looked uncertain, then nodded at his father. "Okay. But we gotta visit everyday. I'll...I'll even eat the ca-chews!" His least favorite nut, that he always picked around in his trail mix. And could not, for the life of him, say correctly. [Not that he wanted to say the name of the nut correctly...]

"Caring for bunnies does not mean you need to eat cashews, or cashew chicken agasin." Leslie chuckled,. and scooped him up. "It's a good deed, helping keep bunnies warm. Now, let's get ready to visit Mommy for lunch!"
The man reazcjhhed, scooping his soiin up ionto his arms as he carried him inside. "We can tell her all about your new friends!" And he moved inside to brush William's hair prouidly. Yes, Mommy would like to know how sweet and hgood their son was!... After giving him trouble for taking so long. For niow though? Lunch p[reperationsd, and he walked inside happily, holding his son to him.
