Prompt 7: You've seen the commercials, take a bite of a chocolate mint patty and feel a rush of so cold you feel like you're atop a frigid mountain? Now, imagine you found a cute little shop with a sweet grandmother selling cookies from a recipe passed down for generations. She was warm and friendly, and very good at selling her cookies. They look normal, taste normal--except when you take a bite, for a few seconds, your vision fades and is replaced by a glorious view. You're at the top of a mountain, watching the sun rise above the clouds. The sunset is beautiful and soft, and you can't even feel the absolutely frigid air despite the snowcapped mountains all around you. There is something otherworldly and timeless about the location, and even in the dark of winter it has the ability to fill you with some unshakeable hope. When you swallow, the illusion rapidly fades, and no subsequent bites guarantee any further illusion--but, maybe if you eat enough, you'll eventually find that magical bite again...

She was as deadly as a girl scout.

This was the declaration his partner had made as they had been saddled with more than a box of cookies. They'd each walked out with more than one and Regula could only shake his head as he stared at them on his kitchen table. He was going to have to find one or two noble souls to take these off his hands. After all, he wasn't the most inclined towards sweet foods in general and tried to limit his intact, so the fact he had more than one box of something that would take him a long time to eat was a little problematic... Alternatively, he could just hand them to Namielle.

She'd binge them while gaming, wasn't that how that worked?

Nevertheless, now that he had actually bought the things from the predatory and opportunistic granny, he might as well sample one of them. They were given rave reviews by those who had been wandering out of the store. In fact it would have been safe to say that several of those reviews had been glowing as both he and his partner had walked in to that store. Real time, devoid of commercials, there had been happy men and women then and there. It seemed silly not to at least see what the fuss was about and if it wasn't for him then at the very least he had someone he could hand them over to.

Not that he liked chocolate mint overly much but...

Try anything once, wasn't that how it tended to go? He lifted his hand to observe the patty closely before he finally took a bite. It seemed to taste normal, the normal minty freshness and the smoothness of the chocolate. Except in an instant he soon found himself somewhere else, his vision didn't necessarily blacken but it in a flash of light he found himself thrust into a world quite unlike where he had been. No longer stood beside the fridge in his kitchen, he stood atop an ageless mountain with only a sunset to keep him company.

Much to his surprise the chill that should have been there didn't greet him, no cold gnawed at his toes and for those moments he was simply suspended in this world. The silence that should have been eerie was nothing of the sort. It was comforting, inviting and paradoxically filled with warmth - he could have stayed here for quite some time and would have if he hadn't been hauled back to reality and his vision cleared to show he probably hadn't even left his kitchen.

A quick glance at the half eaten patty and he took a cautious second bite, with no further oddities forthcoming he could only assume that perhaps he'd experienced something akin to nostalgia. Regardless, if there was something more to these treats then that may not be a bad thing. It was the season for warmth and comfort, if this gave it then it stood to reason that he should leave this one alone.

But he'd probably settle on just one odd little journey, he'd give the rest of these treats for the Mauvians for the time being. if they wanted to investigate it further then they certainly could.
