Quote:

The downside to an army of little bunnies is that they burrow. There are holes peppering Destiny City, and with the fresh fallen snow it can be impossible to tell where they are hiding. The holes range from small holes to several feet deep, so can be a minor inconvenience to a potential hazard. On the bright side, sometimes you wind up covered in bunnies looking for warmth from their sudden guest. On the other hand, there are a rising number of trips to the hospital for twists and sprains.

There were a lot of odd things that happened in that city. Like... too many. There were blogs dedicated to posting recordings of news reports, videos people posted of their experiences, photos, discussions... most of the visual parts were blurry, due to distance or... something. Some were painfully clear and obvious, but people often questioned if anything was Photoshopped, or if it was just a screenshot from a movie or show. Even when people believed in whatever the accounts were, there were just as many scoffing or rolling their eyes.

And then something else weird would happen, and people often mumbled about 'shared hallucinations.' There were a lot of booked out therapists in the city.

Isaiah's section of the city wasn't immune to such goings-ons. Sure, most days were normal enough. Waking up early to start in the bakery at Sweetest Haven was his regular routine, seven days a week. Getting muffins, small loafs of bread, cookies, donuts, and other delectable bits into the oven from doughs and batters done up the night before. Starting up coffee pots for when the first customers arrive within the cafe portion of the shop, often times before the sun's even fully past the specks of horizon visible between buildings. By the time the city gets in full bustle and hustle of the morning, Isaiah and his co-workers would already have displays full of treats and yummy bites for breakfast to go along with whatever highly caffeinated--or perhaps not so much--drink the customer might need to help start their day.

Sometimes, those days included weird light shows and people running around in weird costumes that often times looked more appropriate for a theatre performance, or some period piece, or something besides throwing fists--or boots, or bricks, or sticks, or whatever else they got their hands on--at each other.

Sometimes, those days included weird creatures that attacked people, and drew in... again, the costumed folks.

Sometimes, those days included odd little rabbits that seemed to appear in droves and no one could figure out why.

The latter was among the recent trends. Peeking among the snowdrifts, they were adorable, but they left burrows everywhere. People were starting to complain about falling into them. Isaiah had heard more than a few customers talk about their mishaps at this point, and as he trudged through the most recent snowfall that covered large swaths of the sidewalks till crews could clear it... he could see them. Tiny, white rabbits. Often in pairs. Snuggled together as they stared at him with their large, dark eyes. A few mornings now, he'd fed some of them, offering them bits of breads and cakes from shavings. He'd been amused at how friendly they were, and so willing to come right up to a human!

Isaiah chuckled into the mostly still night--or early, early morning, rather. He'd gotten off the usual bus stop a little aways from the shop, and bundled up in his boots, sweater, jacket, gloves, scarf, hat... he still winced a little at the bite from the bit of wind that snaked through, tossing around what few flakes still drifted in the air and causing more of the loose stuff to skitter across the ground. His breaths puffed out in little clouds that danced about in the air.

It'd been that knowledge of how friendly they were that drew him off the somewhat trampled snow of the sidewalk. Enough people had come through the area already to leave trails in the snow, along with a few bunny prints that went this way and that, on and off the human path. The snow crunched as he went over it, hoping to reach some of the bunnies to pet them like others had let him the other day. He tugged off one of his gloves as he got closer, to be able to properly appreciate the soft fur.

Up above, the night sky twinkled still with so many stars. Or at least, as many as could make it through the gleam of the city lights. Dawn was still quite a ways off, not even a ray began to peek over the edge of the world in their little nook of it.

If, perhaps, Isaiah had had any reason to glance up, he, perhaps, might have seen a few more stars than, perhaps, might have been normal twinkled through. He might have stopped to stare in wonder at this, had his attentions not been focused on the little bunnies whose pink noses twitched towards him as he approached. It might have kept him, at least a moment, from wandering off into the snowbanks and drifts piled up by wind, plows, shovels, and burrowing bunnies.

At least long enough for a passing car to illuminate his path briefly before it continued on its way.

Instead, Isaiah had gone forward a bit too sure, a bit too soon. And wound up with one of his boots sinking not into snow, but a rabbit hole.

The young man yelped, arms flailing as he stumbled forward. It wasn't a tiny hole, at that, a large portion of the snow buckled under him and collapsed inward, into the sort of sinkhole the bunnies had dug out from their entrance Isaiah had stepped into. Snowy walls surrounded him as he huffed from where he'd fallen, blinking blearily a moment as time caught up with his brain.

Groaning, he turned around onto his back, flexing his foot forward and back after lifting his leg to make sure he hadn't sprained or broken anything--didn't seem to be the case, which he was grateful for. A car's lights passed up above him before the vehicle continued on.

He stared further up, beyond the walls of the small snow 'ditch' he'd fallen into. Stars twinkled, and he blinked. So many, many stars. They danced among the remaining bits of cloud, caused ice to glitter as snowflakes drifted. The skies were always the brightest, the clearest, on cold, winter nights. Isaiah's gloveless hand came down onto his chest to rest a moment, and he blinked again. A few times. Lifted his head, bits of snow clinging to his hat as he stared at a cool, metal object in his hand. Not cold, like one might expect of a winter morning, but just... cool. And not entirely metal. A purple feather, delicate and strong, glinted iridescent before it came to rest inside a mental shaft of a pen. A quill pen?

Out here?

He didn't even see any snow on it. Had he fallen on it..? But why would the rabbits have something like--

As his fingers took hold of the quill, the stars so, so high above, seemed to shine even brighter. Enough that his attention was snagged by them, a brilliance he'd never seen before there in the city. The sky was filled with them, so, so many stars. In his hand, the shaft of the pen grew warm, and Isaiah blinked, brows furrowing--

And Isaiah stared as a good portion of his chest lay bare, his coat and sweater gone, the slight wind plucking at the gauzy material of his poofy sleeves. White bunnies had hopped into the hole he lay in, snuggling up to him, their bodies all the brighter against his peachy, purply bodysuit. Golden trinkets glinted and glittered in artificial lights.

"Um... what the ******** just happened?"

With all else that'd happened in that moment, Isaiah really wouldn't have been too shocked if something answered him.

It was a misstep, that much was certain. She had misjudged the fact that there might not be any ground where she was about to land and as she had plunged to the ground she realised that on this occasion, she was missing one fundamental piece of it. Ah, the one time that she happened to be testing this new found springy bounce in her legs and she was greeted with a hole.

Her arrival was unceremonious to say the least and in a flurry of purple and pink, she fell into the hole, landed on several bunnies and then groaned in a rather unladylike fashion. It was a miracle she hadn't managed to kill any of the unfortunate white fluff balls in her descend, but perhaps they had scattered and allowed the ground beneath to take the collision... to be honest that would make sense considering how uncomfortable her backside currently felt.

Ow.

Nevertheless, even as she began to stagger back to her feet she remained unaware of her companion. It was only when he expressed his 'surprise' that she spun round. She had assumed that he meant what had happened to her, and by extension possibly to him (although she didn't think she'd hit him), but at the very least she might well be able to offer some clarity to him. He might well be concussed if he'd hit his head and given that he was missing the obvious she assume that was a distinct possibility.

"Ah, well, you fell down a hole," she replied dutifully as she began to dust off her skirts and glanced briefly at the rabbits. They had given her a wide berth which was fair, but they seemed rather inclined to give him a particularly friendly snuggle. Were they warm? She hadn't actually tried to touch one of them lately but they did seem to look like they'd be soft and warm...

It was only as she took in his clothing that she squinted, and also took note of his aura.

She knew that signature, that was 'friendly', or rather it was friendly on occasions and was entirely dependent on who it owned to, but in general they seemed more friendly and a touch less malicious. Negaverse were a little more savage, and while they rarely outright harmed her, they had little issue with hurting others... There was something about these folks that always came across in a slightly different manner.

"Oooh you must be a Knight," she tented her finger tips and smiled. "I think you might be the first of your kind I've ever met," she mused.

"At least I think you're a knight, you haven't got a tiara like the rest of us so I imagine you must be one of them instead," she added. Far be it for her to know the nuances of each of Order's chosen warriors, but the tiara thing had seemed largely consistent for senshi regardless of which ones they were... Unless they had, you know, punched a hole in their own chest but even then, that seemed to be an exclusive 'senshi' thing too given that both chests and foreheads in normal Agents seemed intact.

"Are you alright by the way, you didn't hit your head on the way down did you?"

He had not, by any means, expected a flurry of purples and pinks to join him in his confused ditch. The sudden fall and impact of the figure had him freezing where he lay, wincing and covering his head with his foofy covered arms as bunnies scattered over towards his far quieter location. One rabbit came up to sit on his chest, little nose twitching about.

Slowly, he uncovered his face, blinking up at the young woman as she began to right herself after her... tumble. He had to chuckled to that--she wasn't wrong.

"Well, yes, I did." He tried to sit up, gently nudging aside rabbits, though the one on his chest refused to budge, requiring him to slowly ease himself up, keeping an arm beneath the fluffball to gently lower it onto his lap. At least from there he was able to kinda turn around to better face her. And take in the fact all his clothes from before were definitely missing. The heck...

"A what?" He blinked owlishly up at her, eyes wide and mouth somewhat ajar. A... Knight? Um. "I don't have a sword," he said as if that should be the defining factor of a Knight. Instead, he lifted up the quill pen he'd... found. "Just this." He could... write a poem. If he got ink.

That was about it, though.

She'd said a bit more than that, though. Pink eyes fluttered a few times as he tried to catch his head up to it all. It sounded like gibberish. "Tiara?" Oh. He stared at her. He could kinda see a glint of gold on her forehead. Lifting a hand, he pressed it to his definitely bare one--though he did feel little bits of makeup along his eyes. Huh. "I... feel like I must have. Hit my head, I mean," he quickly said, frowning somewhat. "Because I didn't fall in here looking like this, and now I... do."

Something tickled at the back of his mind. Like little shivers, or someone was trying to tickle him with a feather. It felt... off. Wrong, kinda. As if he should be wary of it, but it was... jittery? It was a sensation he'd no idea how to describe or convey. He rubbed at his nose, wondering if he was going to sneeze or something.

"Are you alright? You seemed to have a larger tumble than I did."

"Pretty sure most of them don't have swords so that sounds about right," she flicked open her compact briefly to examine herself for any damage and once satisfied that she was unharmed and mostly unruffled she returned her attention to her new found 'friend'. His sudden confusion didn't necessarily make sense to her in the beginning but as he continued to speak and her brow lifted ever higher, she came to realise that perhaps she may have stumbled upon something quite novel.

...This one was new.

"Oh but I am like, the least appropriate person to provide you with assistance right now," she mused as she concluded that the knight in question was definitely new. His confusion regarding his weapon (or she assumed that was his weapon) and his sudden transformation seemed to imply that he knew nothing. Quite frankly she hadn't the slightest idea either but in the grand scheme of things it was probably fortunate he'd found her rather than someone less pleasant.

"Even if I was on the 'holy' side I'm not entirely convinced I'd be useful," she added and sighed.

A dismissive wave of her hand at his concern made it clear she was fine though, if a little distracted by his conundrum.

"You see normally we say a couple of magic words, do some little flourishes and poof, we get a whole new style but I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that's not how your kind do it," she sighed. Much to her annoyance she didn't even have any reliable contacts that were knights so that she could introduce him to someone who could provide a little more clarity.

She could do one thing though, right?

"Truth is you haven't gotten brain damage you're just special even if I don't really know how your thing works," she admitted and placed her hands on her hips. "You're like a kind of super hero I guess, and your side isn't my side's biggest fan but they also don't hate us quite as much as the other-other side," she continued.

"I guess in broad terms they'd say they're the good guys, we're the not-so-good and uh... Then you have the jerks that aren't nice at all," she clucked her tongue. "You're supposed to fight them and, well, us," she admitted. Not that she had been subject to harm from the Order, they'd actually looked after her and treated her with respect but she also hadn't hurt anyone herself either.

"I'll level with you though I'm not big on the whole war your two sides have going on so I'd prefer if you didn't punch me any time soon," she murmured.

"But given what I am...maybe we should try finding you someone a little more useful. I can probably tell you a little about what I am, maybe a little about who the other guys are, but uh... You might need someone who can give a bit more background on what you are, you know?"

A cursory glance indicated he seemed fine from a health perspective though.

"On a more positive note, while your introduction to the world of super heroes is quite sudden you'll find that falling six feet won't kill you anymore, you're probably going to have to aim for something more like three stories high," she grinned.
