Happy Holidays indeed.
Yolanda Hydrus walked solemnly, head lowered, eyes avoiding the happy passers by. It wasn't a happy season for her, but people expected hjer to beam and smile and prance like some kind of snow fairy, when she didn't feel good. Oh, physically she was fine, but emotionally she was distracted and distant. When Zeke and Zayne were out, she was afforded small comforts seeking her uncle Vincent out, but otherwise she felt terrible; disconnected from her family, lonely... She needed some distraction, so she went out. Except now she was greeted by smiling faces, some with a bunny that recently invaded, happy to cuddle one for warmth; to give them treats, and love... Yolie felt an odd disconnect from it all as she walked down the sidewalk in the snow, trying to nuimb herself inside when one step pressed through to a burrow, from a burrow facefirst into a snowdriofft where Yolie rolled onto her back, sighed, and righted herself as a small white rabbit hopped up fearlessly, nosing her curiously.
"I don't have anything for you, mlittle one. Sorry to intrude, anyhow." Yolie shrugged, searcvhing for solid ground to push herself up.. Really, she had enough to think of. Arranging to take ARNICArnica and Hyakutake to Dubhe, training Zeke as a senshi, working out where she stood in the war -- she had so muich to worry about, so muich to think of she really had to focus. Laodicas vanisdhed -- probably killed, who knew -- and she was lonely and it was the Holidays, her first without her father... Her Daddy. She had lost her mother as an infant, but losing her father was a pain too deep to shrug off,. and the blonde shook, looking foor puyrchase.
She cjhoked on a breath, feeling a low cry building in her chesyt at the cruelty of it all, hot tears stinging her eyes as she debated how to get up, a low cry, and then soft.
Soft touch, soft little paws on a booted leg, trying to climb, to wriggle into her lap.
It was a small white rabnbit, not much largher than a plush really, and it seemed keenly aware the interloper that crushed it's burrow was distressed. Now on her legs, it stretched, forelegs rising as the little nose stretched out and booped her own. Satisfied, it lowered.
"You don't have to worry, do you?" Yolie choked out. "Your family's still about, I bet. Or a buddy. I'm... Lonely."
The bunny blinked big brown eyes, before beginning to clean it's ears calmly, Yolie sighed.
"Yeah, You don't... Get it. Come oin, I better let you build a new burrow -- _away_ from all the foot traffic." The girl was crying without a sob, voice cracked and choked as tears fell down her face and she reached for the animal to move it. As her hands wrapped around it, the bunny perkked, huddling as it's legs tried styretching, Yolie forced to adjust hold as it wiggled into a cuddle against her, forming a bunloaf in her arms. Please, it seemed to say -- please, it was cold, mightn't she share hheat a little while? Please?
Yolier choked on a sob, then wailed, crying into the bunny as she held it close to her chest, the rabbity listling in close for warmth a** she sobbed. There was nobody for blocks, and she sobbed hard and in anguiish as she held the small white rabbit, the animal wedging itself closer, begging for warmth, fort comfort. She wrapped around the bunny firmly, face wet with tears as the pair sat, t Slowly, ther bunny wiggledm, nizzling fingers before Yolie let go, and the bunny hopped from, her lap, languidly hopping for the drifts feeling warmer, and Yolie finally found purchase, sniffing before she rose, turned, and began to resuyme walking, wiping her face and ignoring happy revellers crooning at the season, and bunnies.
Still, desp[ite tripping, she felt a little better.
A little.he buinny cudedling innocently to the hurting girl.
