Welcome to the Familiars guide! Here you can find out about the different species of familiars. Basic info and picture of each will be shown in a different post.

As a note in general for familiars, they can only be bonded to one Makogis but are not required to be. A Makogis can have multiple familiars bonded to them. Also different species of familiars (once more appear) can breed with each other.

Pimatsu are the familiars that are born when a Makitsu mask is broken before a spirit can inhabit it and be born. All familiars are described as being servants of the gods based off of tales passed down through the ages. They like all familiars tend to bond with just one Makogis or as of recently with the decline in Makogis population, humans. However they are very social creatures and love crowded places and playing with others so you will usually see a bunch of them together or with a large spread of different creatures.

They are a mischievous little critter that are often found getting into trouble. They enjoy playing tricks and pranks on other creatures. They were always described as being the laziest and most mischievous servant of the gods but were always favored for the fun and laughter that always seemed to follow them.

They can be pretty vocal using whistle noises, chirps, chitters, and other such noises to communicate. They cannot verbally speak like a Makogis or human can as they lack the proper voice box/vocal chords for that. However to the Makogis and/or human they bond to they can telepathically communicate, although they tend to have the vocabulary of a toddler or young child.

Pimatsu are smaller than most Makogis, their size averages around the size of a weasel. They are furry, fox like creatures that has a body that ends in a wispy tail with no back legs. They can levitate to some degree and are experts in illusion magic. All Pimatsu have fire alignments which makes them only able to use fire magic and illusion magic. You will never find a Pimatsu with a different alignment. A Pimatsu can use it's fire magic to assist a Makogis with a different alignment to perform a combo attack or can help boost the fire power of a fire alignment Makogis.

Pimatsu prefer a stable diet of fruit and vegetables but they also eat fire so long as it was not made by their magic. That's not to say you won't find a Pimatsu that eats meat or grains or some other type of food.

Not much is known about the familiars called Kōchin currently. They were never one that appeared in the stories of old making many believe that these are a new familiar that was never previously considered a servant of the gods. What is known about them is that they are dark alignment, which was surprising, and very good at mimicking noises they hear. While they can't talk like we do they can mimic noises that sound like words or murmurs of people talking in the distance.

Not much is known about their diet or if they really even need to eat. They do seem to 'eat' light as the space around them always seems to be rather dim and not well lit.
