Things were feeling a little funny at home, and Qingcheng didn’t know what was wrong. Thanksgiving had been so nice, but then Yu had gotten all jumpy again, and he couldn’t figure out what was wrong. And he hated not knowing what was wrong.

Finals were coming up too, so the stress of that meant that he just needed a break.

He was supposed to be studying at the library tonight...but the air felt so cool and crisp, and the idea of just walking. Of taking a patrol, even if he was supposed to do it with someone else...it was too wonderful to pass up.

Qingcheng was finally beginning to relax as the soft glow of the various Christmas decorations lulled him into a warm sort of peaceful feeling, when he felt the sickening feeling of wrong. There was someone chaos affiliated around and...he really didn’t have the energy to deal with it. But.

What if it was the person who had hurt Priam…

With a heavy, resigned sigh, he moved in the direction of the feeling, narrowing his eyes when he saw a rather familiar figure. “You again? Don’t you know better by now? Trash day is on Monday.”

“Yeah yeah, human garbage, get a fresh line, I know, I’m almost as much of a trash fire as this year.”

The figure seemed tired, shoulders more slumped, less cocky than he had been for all that he might have felt worse than before.

“Don’t suppose you actually read that book, you guys have some really creepy people on your side of things.”

“I’m sorry again about the glasses.”

He was more so, because now he had glasses too. He’d even peered through Sterling’s and realized just how much they must do to help him see.

“Hey, I’m looking for someone, maybe you’ve heard something. Some jackass tossed a civ off a roof or so I heard. I kinda want to punch him in the face. I thought it might be the guy from your side who smells like cinnamon, but last time I ran into him he broke someone’s neck.”

Qingcheng’s eyes narrowed and he shrugged. “I read a few things. Yeah.” He was acting different, and it almost, almost made the Squire want to ease up a little...not completely, just a little. But then...then he began to talk about someone throwing a civilian off of a roof and he paused, tensing up.

“You know, I never did get your name.”

The back of Qingcheng’s neck was prickling as though there were emanate danger, and he watched the captain, holding on to his calligraphy brush with a firm grip. “You and I have become proper acquaintances, and you’ve apologized for breaking my glasses and have even given me a gift...I think we should learn each other’s names, it’s only fair.”

He ignored the question. Ignored the whole issue of the roof tossing. Perhaps he wasn’t talking about Priam. Perhaps there was just a roof flinger out there.

It was a big city.

“Yeahhh no… Someone’s been using my name, and until I reclaim that from the ******** you can keep calling me Garbage, it’s fitting right, Sparkles?”

He remembered the warning from one of the previous people he’d asked. And maybe he’d shared too much as it was, but he had a bad feeling about this encounter.

“If you don’t know anything I’ll even shove off…” He offered and put his hands up.

“Also I still kinda hate the name they gave me, so it’s not… “ He shook his head.

It was almost exactly then when he heard an unfamiliar voice call. “AH! Captain Parisite, I wondered if we’d meet, do you need a hand with that…thing? He looks like a real tosser.”

Parisite felt like this was exactly the sort of situation that made you develop a twitch of the eye.
He turned to stare at the newcomer, who was at least ‘on his side’, though clearly an idiot. His uniform was a more, Eurocentric cut, but a similar black and green to his own. Though he had a freaking…sword, and regular pants.
“Who the ********…”

Qingcheng bit back a dozen retorts to the Captain’s excuses, garbage was the least of the things he wanted to call this guy. But then the second Captain came onto the scene and he stiffened, growing utterly still when he heard the male call his friend’s name.

So.

This was Parisite.

Anger, and a fierce, white hot rage rolled through the Cosmos Squire and he gripped his weapon even more tightly, his vision growing a little hazy as his mind really registered that this was the b*****d who had hurt Priam. Who had thrown their boyfriend off of a rooftop, and almost caused his death.

He had never used his magic before, but he did so now, swinging his brush and watching as light moved towards the Captain who was most familiar. Parisite. The utter scum of the earth. “So. I see who you are, then.”

He didn’t care about excuses. Didn’t care about anything other than hurting the male.

Qingcheng didn’t know if his magic could hurt someone but...he wanted it to. His eyes slid to the other Captain. “You. This isn’t your fight. Leave.”

Painting in the air, a rush of starlight comes towards his opponent. It surrounds them in an egg like sphere and it feels as though they are being reborn; they are visited by images of their past, starting when they are very small. Qingcheng can channel his magic for up to thirty seconds, and no harm may come to the person in the sphere.

“Wha-no!! “ the anger on the other’s face, especially after hearing his costumes name. There must be some rumors going around about the fall Priam took, he couldn’t be shocked it had begun to circulate in the powered community- he himself had been asking questions, but it was so damn unfair.

It was likely that QingCheng would miss the pleased smile on the new comer’s face as he tossed a mock salute, though he didn’t leave.

“Rip his star seed out Captain! It might be your move to General!” He cheered.

Parisite was not paying mine, he’d summoned a dagger in the vain hope of warding off what turned out to be a magical attack. Trapped, the awful feeling of their magic and then...

His hands flew up like he were warding off blows from someone immense.

“Ah! No! No no no I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I was hungry! I’ll be good! He warded his head from whatever blows he was seeing, crouching lower and lower as though even in that short time he were driven down to his knees. The knife he’d summoned clattering to the ground forgotten.

He did miss the smile on the other Captain’s face, so focused was he on making Parisite pay. It turned out that his magic did do something useful, if the cries that Parisite were making were any indication. Qingcheng gave a satisfied smile and shook his head, laughing harshly. “Doubtful.”

The words were dark, and angry, and then his normally soft and warm eyes flickered back to the other Captain. “Seriously. Leave. Unless you want more of the same. This his nothing to do with you. I’m angry, and I don’t want to take it out on you, but I will. Go.”

He took a step towards the male and stopped the magic on Parisite, feeling that there was still some left. “Before I use this on you.”

“Well, now I’m curious. He’s not dead after all!”

“He spread his hands.
“I could cut you down, but I’ll trade you for the story behind this. I’ll cut you down... next time maybe.” He looked amused, pleased as hell with himself.

Parisite fell to one side, gasping for air and even digging his hands into the pavement, bloodying his fingers.
“What... what the ********?!” He swiped at his cheeks, fear creeping into anger as he felt the salt dampness there.

“Come on then! Rip his star seed out! That looked unpleasant! Save the rest of us from that will you?” Called the new Captain.

“SHUT UP!” Snarled Parasite,

“Pffff - coward.”

Qingcheng shook his head and painted towards the other Captain. “You don’t listen, do you? I told you to leave. This doesn’t involve you at all.”

His snarl was almost as vicious as Parisite’s. “And you.” The Squire moved towards Parisite and went to smack him hard with the pen, angry. “If I could kill you, I swear I will. You’re a ******** piece of garbage. I despise you and everything you stand for.”

His voice was raising in pitch and he began trying to hit him on every inch that he could. “You are a monster, a disgusting, vicious monster. I hope you just die. I hate people like you. Both of you.” Qingcheng was shaking with rage, angry enough to curse, angry enough that he was very near a shutdown.

It was Ilya being at the door all over again...only.

These people. They would hurt Ilya. They had already hurt Priam. They would hurt Yu, and everyone else that he cared for.

His fist came up, going right for the Captain’s jaw. “******** you.”

He wasn’t a child, he was not a hungry scared child who was still struggling to find the ways and places to lash out, to fight back.

He gritted his teeth and turned, closing his hand around the slender wrist and twisted it hard, aiming to wrench the other man off his balance, towards the ground.

He felt so terribly strong in that moment, like if he just... squeezed and kept squeezing he could fracture that wrist.
Revenge himself on the one who sought to hurt him, drag him down with more than biting words that left him feeling too hollow, too ‘seen’ by the world.

“Don’t start what you can’t finish you judgmental s**t.” He snarled.

“RIP OUT HIS...”

“If YOU don’t shut the hell up I’m going to show you how well I throw my ******** knives!” He snarled.

He heard the man laugh, a shocked sound he thought before he felt that power signature recede.
“You ever pitch your magic s**t at me again I’ll show you what I see.” He snarled though gritted teeth. His hand tightened harder around that wrist, but there had to be more. He wanted violence... he...

He pushed the other man away, swearing.

“Remember what it takes to live in the forgotten corners of the world, p***k. Don’t turn over stones if you don’t want to see what’s underneath. Go home, lick your wounds. Another time, p***k.”

The Captain’s grip was tight and Qingcheng felt a rush of fear, not know what this maniac was capable of. But when he let go, and left with more harsh words, the Squire swallowed and glared after him. Fine.

Fine he would just have to get stronger. Would just have to train enough and and work harder.

The next time...he wouldn’t let Parisite slip through his fingers.

He would get revenge for Priam. For everyone this piece of garbage had hurt. Carefully, the squire flexed his wrist, wincing slightly but pushed himself up, beginning to tremble as he got closer to home.

...That had been too close for comfort.
