The cooler weather season was upon them, and Tacrith was standing outside one of the nicer clothing stores. While freezing temperatures were rare, a sweater was called for from time to time. He was having quite the inner debate of trying to decide on which store to go into as well as simply getting himself to actually go into the expensive looking shops. He had finally gotten some regular work with the local clinic, and was saving up some real money. For the first time in years, he had enough to spare.
He probably looked quite silly while he stood motionless in the street, his eyes scrutinizing the storefronts carefully for far too long a time than was necessary. His history consisted of the bare minimum to meet his needs outside of his work, and clothing was certainly no exception. Times were changing though, and he found himself tempted to splurge a little on something of good quality. He might even, just maybe, get something for his brother who had been working so diligently lately...

With the changing of the season's it was easier to tell who had grown up in warmer climates and who hadn't. Granted it was always unseasonably warm in Oba, but the true spirit of solstice came at night when temperatures absolutely plummeted. Those that had grown up in areas with differing climates tended to adjust easier than those who hadn't i.e. Adenah. At first she'd lived in the plush humid heat of Jauhar before shifting to the harsh dry stillness of Oba. Of course rainwater could chill you, but at the very least it was cold during the day too, whereas this was just cruel.
For the most part she hadn't changed her wardrobe too much. The young assassin simply donned a light jacket that clung to her rather generous frame and chose to leave her legs bare. As a rule she never stayed out long enough at night to be exposed so there was no worry about a chill. Still, a few new goodies were always in demand and some shopping was well overdue.
Granted, she hadn't expected to see a Yaeli there, but times were changing. She might have passed him up entirely had he not looked utterly confused. A tourist, maybe? "Hey there~" Adenah chirped sweetly as she sidled closer. "Are you lost?"

Tac was about ready to give up in his quest. The neighboring shops all looked promising, but the fronts gave no obvious clues to which one he would be better off exploring. If the fronts did reveal anything, it must have been beyond his line of knowledge.. which would not surprise him. It might be time to simply flip a coin... He glanced over to see who was talking, a little surprised to see he was indeed the one being approached! "Lost?" He pursed his lips and turned his gaze back to the stores. "Perhaps I am, in a sense. I admit, I am having difficulty deciding which store to go into for some clothing." He looked back to the girl and paused. She wasn't exactly the image of practical clothing, but... "Would you happen to have a suggestion?"

"Lost." Adenah repeated with amusement. Was he hard of hearing or just so lost in his own world that he hadn't processed it? Either way she grinned a little, clearly having fun.
Taking a step back, she looked at what he was currently wearing and scrunched her nose. "I guess it depends on what kind of look you're going for. I don't think any local shops sell 'ex-priest-turned-military-undertaker'. You might have to talk to a traveling merchant for that." His clothing was certainly...clinical, if she was being nice. Simple, strategic, and beyond boring.
"I see you don't like showing a lot of skin."

Tac's brow cocked up with confusion, taking her teasing observation seriously. "I was never a priest. At any rate, they would usually wear long robes and the like." Of course his mind drew back to think about his oldest friend. He unfortunately hadn't seen the strange priest in years. "I was never directly affiliated with the military, but I did help out during the dretch war. I suppose that might have affected my clothing choice? My work has found me dealing with the dead before, particularly during the war, but my concern is on keeping the living.. well, living." He glanced down at himself briefly. He thought he looked fairly well put together. An undertaker, he was not! "Considering how many various bodily fluids and viscera I have been exposed to, it is best to wear plenty of cover at all times." Work was his life, and one never knew when a job would suddenly come up. He had been surprised on more than one occasion.

"Oh honey, no." This poor man. He'd been under the rock for so long he was starting to grow moss. Adenah raised her hand up to her face and massaged the bridge of her nose, just barely opening her eyes long enough to peep at him. "That's not - you know what? It's not important." Pick your battles and move on. "You're an attractive man and a healer, from the sounds of it. So you need a wardrobe that says 'I am here to help' but also 'I can command a room with a look."
She wasn't so sure about the walking stick, but throw a bit of gold on it and it would be fine. Practicality was more important with something like that anyway.
"Besides, you can always wear a coat when you're with patients it doesn't have to be your entire identity." Looking around, Adenah settled on a shop just a few doors down that sold moderately priced mens clothing. It wasn't the fanciest in Oba, but she was going to start small. "Let's go down to Vinar's and we'll look at a few things. It's okay if you don't find something you like; you can just point out bits that you do enjoy and we can go from there."

Attractive? This was his first time hearing that out here in Oba. ..Not that it was any more common to hear back on Yael, of course. He had never put much stock into his own appearance outside of looking professional either, which made the compliment even more rare and surprising. It did little to his ego one way or the other, but it was still nice to hear on occasion. "Do you mean.. I should use my clothing to speak for me?" It was a concept he had heard before, but he had always depended on actions and words. His hand rose to scratch at his jaw in a contemplative manner. How many thoughts could a single outfit possibly convey? "I suppose I could give that a try." His brow rose again with surprise, eyes shifting to the indicated store and back to the woman. "'We?' I am sure you have better things to do than go shopping clothing with me." A pair of Oban had been walking by the two and paused to eavesdrop. After a moment, one smirked and gave a loud snort toward his companion. "Not sure what these two are hoping for," he mused, pretending to be talking to his companion but obviously speaking loud enough to be obnoxiously heard. "Can't put fancy clothes on a pile of crap and call it pretty."

Adenah clucked her tongue. "That's it! Your clothing can be used as a first impression. It's one of the first things people will think about when they see you and you want to use that to your advantage." In her case she wanted people to take her in; it made getting the job done so much easier. For him the look should focus on professional, but also with a fair bit more personality than whatever this was.
"Not really. I'm out shopping for myself, but I'm a much easier target to please. I don't mind going so long as you don't mind having me." She smiled and looped her arm with his. At first she didn't much care about the eavesdroppers; with the way she looked and the way she dressed it was common enough to have people talk about her.
What was surprising was to hear it directed towards someone else and that got her hackles raised. "Oh gosh, you're right." She turned towards the Obans with mock pity. "You poor thing; whatever blind rat dressed you must have been so overwhelmed by the stench that they shucked you in the first bag they could find and shoved you out the door." Placing a hand over her heart she played it off as if her knees were 'buckling' in sympathy.
Tugging on Tac's arm, Adenah started walking towards the shop, now completely ignoring the pair. "So, what's your favorite color?"

Tac's first instinct was to tense up when his arm was grabbed. "I guess there would be no harm in you joining me.." he hesitantly replied. Considering the situation, it might have been more appropriate to say that he was the one joining her for this trip. He was certainly out of his element when it came to clothing, but the girl seemed fairly confident with herself. Though he had heard the men, he was well along in ignoring the pair. He wasn't sure which of them was being referred to, but he had found that avoiding any confrontation with such folk was ideal for him. The hybrid seemed to have the opposite idea. That seemed to be a running theme with her. The stranger's eyes went wide. "What did you say?!" He was speaking to their backs though, which riled him up even further. "My shoes are worth more than you are!" His companion was less than pleased, but seemed to lack the interest in pursuing that he did. Tac followed along as he was guided, but still shook his head. "You know that's just going to feed their egos. ..I don't believe I have a favorite color?"

"My shoes are worth more than yooouuu," Adenah mocked in a very nasally voice. She even raised her nose with the tip of her index finger to boot. Once finished she just laughed. "Did you get a look at those shoes, anyway? I'm pretty sure if he stepped in a puddle they would just disappear." She couldn't honestly tell if they were so expensive they looked breakable or if all the glitz was to disguise the cheap, shoddy craftsmanship.
"Does it really matter? I did it for me, not them." She elbowed him while they walked, slowing down a little as they came up to the shop front. The shop itself was small and modest, but clean with fashionable designs draped around every corner. After stepping inside Adenah took a look around, then paused long enough to look at him critically. "Not a single color; not a single one is your favorite? Do you have one you don't like, then?"

The pair started bickering, one trying to go after the snarky girl while the other held him back. Such uncomely behavior. Tac shook his head. "Those are rather unpleasant shoes," he murmured. Clothes were not his area, but even he had quality standards. There had been a time when even quality had not crossed his mind as a concern! How times changed... Feeling more secure within the walls of the shop where a certain someone might be less likely to come cause trouble, he returned the woman's look with a slightly quizzical one of his own. "I am uncertain of that as well. I take the fabric and fit into consideration most of all. A good, sturdy material that won't be flapping all over the place is all I require. I suppose my only concern with color is that it goes well with what else is being worn." His brow cocked further, a tiny hint of a smile lifting as well. "I take it that this practice does not make for clothing that speaks out the way you believe it should?"

She had to admit that shopping for clothing with a strange yaeli man hadn't exactly been on the menu for today. Still, Adenah couldn't say she wasn't enjoying herself. Being escorted around always made her feel like some sort of prize, even if he clearly didn't mean it that way. In terms of men she normally played with he was certainly smaller, with far less bulk, but that didn't mean he was any less fun. Just a different flavor.
"Ah, yes, sturdy." Adenah nodded her head with a tired sigh. "You're not married are you? If you were I doubt your spouse would let you talk like that." Surely if there was someone at home then he wouldn't be traipsing about looking for sturdy clothing. "Alright so what I'm hearing is that you want a neutral base and maybe with some pops of color as accessories so that you can change it up however you want."
Stepping away from him, Adenah made her way further into the shop and started to look at the premade clothing. Of course a seamstress was near the back of the shop working on custom made items, but for now Adenah was less worried about a perfect fit. "I just...I don't know, don't you think it's a little odd that you don't have a favorite color? What about food? Do you have a favorite snack? What do you like to do when you aren't working?"
