The Graveyard History
It all started with a crimson blood stallion. Velsorurn believed he was haunted by the souls of soquili who had died at the paws of shifters. As a result he has always despised shifters. He felt more in touch with the dead and decided to set up his home in a neglected graveyard. For years, he tended to the graves; bringing fresh offerings like flowers in the summer and evergreens in winter. It was lonely work as often others avoided him, fearing his pelt.
One year he went to the Wishing Star to ask for a mate who wouldn't be afraid of him and could help him tend the graves. Not long after that, he ran across a blue, prank-prone mare named Charnette. She eventually became his mate and moved into the graveyard with him. One winter a hind mare named Tove found her way into the graveyard. Though he thought she was a spirit at first, she quickly proved she wasn't. Veslorurn invited her to return whenever she wanted and warned her of the terror that were pureshifters.
The hind, Tove, was looking for her brother. Eventually she found him and his mate, a charmed pureshifter. Unsure what to do, the mare brought the pair back to Veslorurn and Charnette's graveyard. At first he was furious for bringing a beast to his home after he'd warned her. It took some time, but he realized this pureshifter didn't act as others would. In the end he agreed to let them stay. The pair of stallions found themselves with three baskets. Charnette was delighted to help raise the trio.
All the adults were horrified when one of the baskets proved to be a pureshifter like Nash. She was vicious when she popped out and scarred her two siblings. Veslorurn had to construct a pen to hold her until they could find and place a charm on her. The shifter, Runa, has dubbed the graveyard her territory and protects it and those linked with it.
It wasn't long after Runa's siblings left that Charnette expressed her hopes for baskets of their own just as another Wishing Star was passing the land. Veslorurn led Charnette to the biggest gravestone under the light of the star, and there they made a wish for a basket all their own. Their wish was granted. Not long after that the pair was blessed with another round of baskets, all boys. Runa also adopted a pair of minis as her own little minions and from there the herd has grown.
