There is no way in hell that a kid would be out patrolling this area, Ilmarë thought, surveying the filth of the alley ways. And if she was, I’d want to slap the taste out of the mouth of whoever had told them it was a good idea. Lip curling in distaste for the dirt and litter, Ilmarë resumed her hunt. The problem was that she wasn’t entirely sure what sort of area a chibi senshi would claim as patrol grounds. She’d considered the local playground, but dismissed it as a little too childish. No, Saiph might be a child, but she wasn’t childish. She was brave and a little goofy and an all around good kid.
So what would a child like that want to work the hardest to protect?
Maybe the park? It seemed to Ilmarë that everyone could be found in or around the park at some point. Maybe the lack of buildings had something to do with it? She’d certainly appreciate a lack of potential for structural damage. And well? What else was she going to do? She had to look all over and hope to get lucky.
As Ilmarë made her way through the back streets of Destiny City, she couldn’t help but wonder if she was even doing the right thing. Maybe she should just try to find a grown up senshi and hope that she stumbled across one that lacked any skill at manipulation. But so many White Mooners were so trigger happy and ready to attack on sight…
No. She needed Saiph for this sort of thing. A chibi senshi, she reasoned, in the company of a corrupt would stop the most volatile from attacking if only to keep the child from being caught in any crossfire. And once they saw that the corrupt wasn’t doing anything and the chibi wasn’t frightened, logic should dictate that the corrupt wasn’t there to cause problems. Right?
Eh, it sounded good in her head anyway. Whether or not logic would apply to anyone from the white moon was something else entirely. Though she had seen agents and senshi sort of working together in that village. They hadn’t been happy, but she’d seen cooperation. So maybe they weren’t all rhetoric shouting assholes.
Just most of them.
Leaning against the side of a building, Ilmarë hid her face in her hands for a moment. What was she even doing. Was any information worth going through this? And if any of her superiors knew that she was nosing around and meeting with the other side… Well.
She’d heard stories of all the different ways that a life could be made miserable and more obedient. Was she really willing to risk that? Then, she thought of how Saiph had tried to explain why, even as a little kid, she felt that she needed to fight since she’d been given the means to do so. OF course, the kid was also at an age where being a hero was very appealing. But Saiph truly had seemed to want to take up this fight. She wanted to help people and keep them from harm. All right, maybe this hunt was worth it if she could talk to someone who could explain it all to her.
Not just the side she’d been given upon corruption, but both sides. The truth was there somewhere between the two.
