Little Briallen was completely ecstatic. The youngling had woken up before the dawn so that she could prepare herself for a day with Mima. She wasn't exactly certain what her mother had planned but it was possible that they would go exploring! Even if not she knew that whatever they ended up doing would be a lot of fun. Briallen grinned happily as she finished twisting her dreads behind one of the little scarfs that she loved to wear. She enjoyed actually swapping between the little scraps of fabric, each a different color and some even with patterns, and today she had chosen a teal one with little golden vines etched across. She was also enjoying the cooler weather in Chiume and enjoyed watching how some of the trees along the island changed whenever the seasons changed. There were many trees that had thin silver needles that stayed like that all the time but others became vibrant shades of oranges, crimsons, yellows and violets. It was amazing!
Briallen couldn't wait to see what today had in store and so she found herself blitzing throughout their little home, preparing herself for the moment that her Mima appeared. She had even taken care of smaller chores like sweeping out any fallen leaves and making her own bed before coming down towards the main entrance of their home. "Mima? Are you here?" She called out into the early light of dawn.

The earthlings on the Tendaji mainland were animals. They survived and scraped along while somehow managing to not completely kill each other off. Then there were the earthlings on Belrea. They.. well, they were animals, but they at least seemed to be of a higher caliber than those on the mainland. With sisters going to and from Belrea regularly, they steadily got Vermina more and more intrigued with their tales of the technology and environment.
Brow lifting when she heard her daughter call out, she smiled and looked back toward the house. "Outside, Briallen!" She had just gotten back from making plans with a few sisters, and had paused to watch the sun rise until her daughter woke. "How would you like to try something completely new with me for breakfast?"

"There you are!" Briallen let out a giggle as she dashed forward and attached herself to Vermina's leg. "Something new?" She mused with a gasp of excitement. What would they be doing today? Briallen bit her bottom lip with anticipation as she glanced up towards her Mima. "If we're together then I'm always willin' to try something new, Mima!" She gushed happily with a bright smile. What would they be doing that was completely new? Oh she couldn't wait to brag about it to Faenna later whatever it was!

Vermina laughed and stroked Briallen's hair. Such a little sweetheart! "Well, I will definitely be right at your side," she assured, taking Briallen's hand to lead the way. There would be other sisters to help keep watch, but she wasn't going to let her daughter out of her sight. Maybe not even out of her reach!
It wasn't a very long walk to the small dock at the edge of Kiros, and she held tightly to Briallen's hand as they stopped in front of the ferry. It had a scattering of Alkidike lingering around as well, waiting for the ferry captain to announce preparations. "I wanted to give you the choice," she said, kneeling down to be closer to Briallen's level. She wanted her daughters to experience more at younger ages than she had been. It would be so much better for them, wanting the both of them to be more experienced than she ever was. "We can either place an order with one of the sisters to fetch food for us, or we can ride the ferry to Belrea ourselves. It is your choice, darling."

"Okay, good!" Chirped Briallen as she held onto Vermina's hand. She was really curious about what her Mima had planned and the excitement made her stomach flutter like a bunch of butterflies! Still, she had learned that it was best to at least try and be somewhat patient so that her Mima could let her know. After all, Briallen had a bad habit of getting too excitable and talking in such a flurry that it was hard for anyone to say much whenever she got started going! But she was getting better...somewhat! She just had to make certain to tighten her lips just enough so that the words bubbling in her throat didn't spill out. It was a slightly more childish expression of her Mama's thoughtful expression whenever she was meditating or discussing really serious things with other adults.
She had been so patient but whenever she saw the ferry, Briallen couldn't help but to let out a loud gasp. "Re-really?!" She breathed, her gaze widening in surprise. "You mean we can go over to the city? That's...amazing! I mean if it's safe and you'll be there so....but earthlings can be scary, right? But at the same time it's so cool and exciting! I'm sure there's a million things that are there to see!" She continued rolling various ideas and thoughts in her mind before finally shaking her head with vigor. "I'm brave and you're here, Mima! Let's go!" She beamed towards Vermina proudly, "This will be so much fun!" Plus, how was she supposed to know what to ask a Sister to bring back? Apparently the Belrean cities were full of goodies and Briallen wanted to see them all!

It was tempting to let her eyes glass over as her daughter excitedly babbled on, but Vermina managed to keep her focus. Briallen was just so darned cute! She reached out to take Briallen's hand and nodded. "Okay. We will go, then."
The trip across on the ferry went quite smoothly on the cool and sunny day. She had done more traveling in the past few years than in her entire life, and thus was prepared for the boat trip. Still, she was grateful to be back on land. The port wasn't exactly bustling, but it wasn't a ghost town either. The Alkidike were shopping around and the Belrean earthlings were either selling supplies or loitering out of interest in watching the Alks. Vermina just held Briallen's hand firmly. "Okay. They say that most of the food here is fairly good, so you can just.. follow your nose." She smirked lightly and sniffed at the air. "Where are you drawn to, darling?"

Of course Briallen was a total ball of energy during the whole ride over. The youngling bounced back and forth as she grew accustomed to the feeling of the waters gently rocking their boat. Amazement lit her features as she pointed out all of the earthling things, her little mouth constantly opening and closing in surprise as she gasped at all of the new things! Upon reaching the actual city, Briallen found herself drawing closer to Vermina. Despite her amazement and intrigue about all of the earthlings, the youngling was slightly overwhelmed since there were simply so many walking back and forth. Did they all live in big places like these? She blinked in confusion as she studied the looming buildings that were vastly different from their simple homes scattered throughout the forests on Chiume.
"What am I drawn to?" She frowned slightly at her mother's question before sniffing the air slightly. "Oh!" She tugged lightly on Vermina's hand before pointing the way down the street. There was something sweet down there! Briallen couldn't help but to grin whenever she followed the smell of freshly baked bread and sweets to one of the many buildings. Once they arrived before the bakery, the girl hesitated and glanced back at her mother. Did....did they simply go inside?

Despite her own nerves making her muscles tense up, it was truly a delight to watch Briallen blossom with interest and excitement. She could remember some of her earliest trips to Jauhar, and that had been terrifying! She could distinctly remember clinging to her very disappointed mother... Ugh. Her head didn't want to go there.
She let out a breath and smiled lightly as she was guided along. "This does smell lovely," she agreed, giving Briallen's hand an encouraging squeeze. Still.. she did keep Briallen back a hair while she stuck her head in to look around the inside. Aishans and earthlings alike were scattered about, perusing the shelves of baked treats. Smiling to a few familiar faces, she encouraged her daughter inside with her. "Go ahead and pick out whatever you would like. I'll find something for us to take home to Faenna and Mama." Faenna would surely pout to learn that they had gone to the mainland without her, but a treat would help ease the sting.

Briallen brightened immediately once her mother agreed that the smell was lovely. If anything the youngling loved praise and when people agreed with her decisions! It definitely was a confidence booster and Briallen found herself holding her chin up proudly as she led the way towards the stone building. When they entered the bakery she couldn't help but to let out a small gasp of surprise. "They really have so much in one place?" She had never truly been to any type of store before and then to see a place just full of food was astounding to the little one. Briallen grinned at her Mima brightly once she told her to go ahead and pick out anything she would like. "Otay!" She chirped happily before darting away, her confidence increased by the familiar Alkidikes wandering about. At least they hadn't come alone and even though she was tempted to look closer at the earthlings....did that guy have green spikes growing from his face?! The smell and appearance of the foods took most of her attention. What is that? Ooooh it looks so good! Eventually Briallen found herself glancing up shyly towards one of the earthlings, a lady with mocha skin and green hair that was tied back in a long ponytail under a scarf.
"Do you need help little one?" Even if the earthling was apprehensive to have several foreigners in the shop it seemed that she was comfortable enough to talk to the child. Briallen felt her cheeks flushing at the sudden attention and she glanced around for her Mima. What did she do? Biting her bottom lip, Briallen thought about how brave most warriors had to be before making her decision to face the earthling.
"I uh...was wondering if I could try some of those sweets?" She managed quietly as she gestured towards something that smelled super sweet. It wasn't like the berry tarts that she was accustomed to and there was like a fine white powder on the dark covered bars. What was that exactly? Briallen pursed her lips, her expression lighting up whenever the earthling nodded and handed her a small cloth with pieces of the treats that had pointed out.
"Go ahead and try a piece." The earthling urged and Briallen took a deep breath before popping one into her mouth. It left crumbs on her fingers but seemingly dissolved once it hit her tongue. Mmmm. Briallen closed her eyes in happiness as she bit into the chocolately sweet, the powdered sugar melting in her mouth. It was so light and fluffy! "Do you like it?"
"I do!" She blurted before flushing. "Thank you!" She looked at the shelves and pointed out a few more items, more of the little chocolate cakes and a couple of pastries with swirls of sugar and cinnamon in them. Eventually Briallen thanked the lady before heading back towards Vermina with a small bag in hand. "Mima!" She grinned as she held up her prizes, "The lady said that I could have some of these since we're first time....custa....custasomethings!" Whatever that word was that she used! Briallen didn't think it was anything bad especially since the lady seemed so helpful and nice. Who knew earthlings were so friendly?

Hoping she hadn't just allowed a disaster to happen, Vermina chuckled and went to speak with the other adults. One eye remained locked on her child though, facing where she could always keep watch. She watched extra closely when her daughter interacted with the earthling, taking a moment as well to observe the stranger. Earthlings were such strange beings. The eyes in particular...
Her brow steadily rose as more treats dropped into Briallen's bag, pressing her lips to hide a laugh. Was she getting tastes of the whole store? "Have?" She looked over to the earthling who gave her a wave of confirmation. "Well, that is very kind of it to do. I believe the word it would have used would be a 'customer.' It stands for someone shopping, basically." She looked over the treats that she had picked out as well and nodded. "This will be too much to simply take. If you are ready, I will pay for these and we can go outside to eat them. Perhaps by the water?"

"Custa...customer." Briallen repeated the strange word with a firm nod. "So that's what we are." Earthlings had some really strange words and customs. She was much more accustomed to just trading for everything with other Sisters. Who knew that shiny pieces of metal could be so important to earthlings? Briallen pursed her lips sheepishly before nodding. "Okay. That sounds good!" Briallen was more than eager to share her treats and would even try to save a piece or two to share with her sister and maybe even a couple of the other younglings. The Vandrea couldn't leave the island yet after all so it would be a shame to not share! She wondered if her Mama and Mima would like the treats that she picked as well. I 'spose we'll see soon enough! She thought with a grin as she waited on her mother to give the earthlings their shiny coins for the food.

Vermina did her best to seem relaxed while interacting with the earthling. While she wasn't nervous or worried, it was still a mental hump that she was working her way over to deal with them on this direct level. She needed to set the best example for her daughters...
She let out a breath of relief when she returned to Briallen and guided them outside. She found a sunny spot of sand with patches of grass poking through to make it extra cushy. "So, what is in that big bag of treats you have?" she asked lightly, leaning over as though to take a peek inside.

Briallen followed after her mother happily. When they finally stopped walking, the youngling plopped onto the sand without a care in the world. "Lots of things." She replied with a grin towards her Mima. "They had little pastries, tarts but my favorite thing is this!" She pulled out one of the chocolate bars with the white powder sugar and held it towards her mother. "Wanna try? I think the earthling called it a brownie." Briallen beamed as she remembered the name of the treat. "It's so sweet!"
The youngling was super happy that she got to go on such an adventure with her Mima. Her sister was going to be so jealous! But it was okay that would probably mean that they would just have to come back again in the future! That would be amazing. Briallen's smile only grew as she waited for her mother to try the treat. "Thank you again for bringing me! This was really fun, Mima."

Brave and sweet. They truly had lucked out with these girls. She accepted the bar and took a small bite. That.. was actually quite good. Giving Briallen a smile, she helped herself to a bigger bite of the odd treat. Brownies. She would have to keep these in mind.
"Thank you for coming," she replied, leaning over to press a kiss to Briallen's cheek. "I'm having fun, too." They would enjoy the beach and their snacks a little longer, Vermina already tucking plans for a future family trip into the back of her mind.
