Prompt 5: As if the eerie fog isn't enough to deal with, once the sun goes down you must take shelter quickly--or risk the beast of this land. While there is sometimes the sensation of being watched, it worsens when the sun goes down. A shadow can sometimes be seen outside, but if it catches you in the window it will attack. If it senses life in any building, it will batter against the door, scrape against the walls, and clatter at the windows. An overwhelming sensation of dread and fear seems to roll in with the creature. It cannot break into the buildings, but it can damage them--just never enough to get inside. Once a house is damaged, it is not safe to return to unless it is repaired before nightfall. The creature can splinter wood, claw at bricks, and crack or shatter glass. It can wail like a banshee and can linger for moments or hours throughout the night. It is always gone before sunrise.
She hadn’t thought anything of peeking out her window when she heard the suns - it sounded like someone was being killed. Or at least what you pictured it sounded like - all the screaming and the sounds being made. She could hear banging and thudding from the little house across the dirt path from her own. She already knew better than to light a fire of any kind, not wanting to let others know she was living here, she was trying to keep as much to herself as possible, but the horrid looking creature she saw across the street was a certainly a terrifying sight.
Stepping back she didn’t shut the curtains in time it seemed, as the beast's head turned and eyes landed on her - it saw her. She knew it had seen her and the curtains slipped from suddenly lax fingers, the fabric falling back into place and coving up the sight of the creature rushing towards her little home. The bang which sounded on the poor front door had the senshi of vampires rushing to close her bedroom door and huddle under her pile of bedding. She wasn’t trying to keep warm, not right now anyway, but she was hoping to hide and to dampen the sound of her door being beaten upon.
She could hear the windows rattle and shake, the glass rattling in it’s frame, as she hoped the door downstairs held and that the windows didn't shatter and let the monster inside. The shriek from it reminded her of a banshee, at least what she’d heard of them, perhaps there was a senshi of banshee she thought for a moment. That would be interesting, and maybe a senshiu worth meeting.
As the abuse continued she could only hope it would soon stop - that something would distract the monster and move it away from her home. She didn’t think it could take so much abuse and survive, it wasn’t in the best shape really. The door held though for so long she lost track of time, it wasn’t like there was a clock around or anything, she really wasn’t sure how long they’d even been in the village. Nights and days had simply bled into each other and she didn’t keep track of it all.
Shivering under the bedding, and not from the cold, she was scared - really scared. She’d been on edge being here,m who wouldn’t be? But she hadn’t felt fear till now. She was scared of it getting in, she’d been scared seeing it across the road as well. It was a feeling which gripped her and left her shivering and finding it hard at times to breath, something she had to struggle through, as she held tightly to one of the blankets he had covered herself with.
There was no doubt the poor door was going to be damaged come morning, though she wondered how damaged, she knew she’d need to examine it and fix it tomorrow. She couldn't leave it go another night of beating it surely wouldn’t take. That was what she'd spend a good portion of tomorrow doing. Tonight she needed to try and get some sleep...but how?
How came easier than she thought - she was too tired and scared and her body just gave into sleep.
