The little village is unnaturally empty and devoid of all life sans that which came from Destiny City. To add to the eeriness of everything, sometimes a small area will randomly feel cold and unnerving more than the rest of the town. Close investigation of the area will result in finding a small piece of weathered metal; you can just barely make out runes carved into it, but it's not large enough for you to make out anything. As soon as the metal is picked up, the mood in the area immediately fades and, oddly, you feel safer holding it. You may only find one of these per character!
In the time since she had ditched Kalani and left her cousin to her fate (whatever it may be), Safiya understood that if she wanted to make it out of here in one piece, teaming up with a new partner was her best option. True, she preferred to do things solo, after a history of being let down and disappointed by people, but her options were rather limited here. Time certainly wasn’t on her side, and while there were still a lot of unknowns about her new ‘home’ for the time being, Safi had played enough video games to know that night time was usually a bad time to be caught outside. So, she needed to find a new shelter, hopefully far away from the home she had just abandoned, and someone she could tolerate long enough to work together with for however long they were going to be stuck here, wherever ‘here’ was.
As she scouted around, checking how sturdy and sound each building looked, Safi couldn’t help but feel somewhat uneasy as she explored one particular corner of the village, though she didn’t spot anything out of the ordinary, or at least in terms of how dilapidated this place already was. Common sense told her she should move on, to some other part of town that wasn’t as uninviting, but a nagging feeling in the back of her mind told her to stick around a little longer and give things a closer look. Her efforts were rewarded with the discovery of a small piece of metal, with some strange writing on it in some foreign runes she couldn’t quite make out the meaning of. Well, it seemed a little sus for it to be sitting on the ground like this, for her to discover it, but on the other hand, something told her she had nothing to lose really, and perhaps it would turn out to be useful later on down the line.
Ultimately, Safiya ended up picking up the strange piece of metal, and just about instantly, the negativity of the area started to lift, Safi no longer feeling uneasy or cold, at least not more than she did in any other part of town. So, it was a useful item, then? For some reason that she couldn’t quite place, she did feel a little safer while holding onto it. Well, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, or something like that. Safiya didn’t know what purpose this ‘trinket’ had, but it would seem that holding onto it was the best strategy, or at least that she shouldn't be so quick to toss it for now. As to if it’d prove useful later on was yet to be seen, but at least for now, she didn’t really care.
Regardless of the ‘safety’ her new find granted her, though, Safiya felt that lingering in this area wasn’t the wisest of choices, and that it would be better to move on. Before she could fully get going, though, the sound of footsteps approaching caught her attention, and Safi frowned- did Kalani decide to suddenly grow a conscience and catch up with her? Or did she unknowingly encroach upon someone’s ‘claimed’ hideout, and was about to end up in some sort of territorial conflict?
Man, it’d sure have been nice to have something to defend herself with right about now.
