Prompt 2: You need to eat. There are archaic cooking utensils and a well in the middle of town. There is an array of fruits, mostly apples, hanging from some trees, and there are several different types of berries that grow around the forest. There are unkempt gardens in a few of the houses, and a larger one with an array of crops that seem to be free for the taking, just by what seems to be an abandoned--locked--church. In some houses, and in a strange storage room in town, there seems to be unidentifiable dried meat. There are no packed or processed foods--only what nature permits. There are no animals to hunt. You can choose to eat any of such food, but at what cost? Are you fortunate enough to feel no effects? Are you struck with some toxic poisoning that fades after a bit? Do you feel rejuvenated, but at the cost of feeling incredibly paranoid and off? Food and effects are player choice, however should not grant any boosts in battle or extreme advantages into gameplay; if you have questions about what you can find or what effects it can have, please post in the MQ&A

For the lack of a better reaction, Cinta made a slightly soft whiny sound to herself. As soon she stepped out of the thick fog, what she saw was a fairly (more like, quite) decrepit and seemingly abandoned village. One that is nearly straight out of the set of Silent Hill or any other horror film she had the displeasure of being whisked away to watch.

That is to say, she isn’t easily frightened per say or is drawn to it bizarrely, but it just wasn’t her cup of tea. She preferred the safe confines of a clean and cozy corner of a book cafe, enjoying a neat slice of tiramisu cake over a cup of hot bergamot tea. Or just, any place that is well maintained and well-stocked with edibles. She was an person with ordinary civilized needs, not a person trained for wilderness survival.

In this case, well, this place was the opposite of her expectations, and it was clear that she harbored hopes of returning home as soon as possible. But, days later, she still found herself in the village. She counted her lucky stars that she was able to team up with Safiya, but that sort of situation just made the entire thing even more bizarre. Regardless, there are some facts that remain a constant, and it’s that she and Safiya require nourishment to live.

At first, Cinta balked at the thought of breaking into long abandoned residences, but even she shelved that thought when both Safiya and she discovered that these residences were legitimately uninhabited. Probably marked for demolition at some point, even. And so, day after day, both of them roamed around the neighborhood, pillaging various properties for any fruit that was freely hanging. It was free for the taking at this point, which Cinta was grateful for.

Cinta even came across some mystery meat a couple of times, but its unknown origin and condition convinced her that it is not worth betting with Lady Luck over it. Cinta admittedly missed having some sort of meat to eat, but it just wasn’t worth the risk if she could help it. After all, it wasn’t long before she heard rumors of other people trapped in the village falling temporarily ill or endure strange effects from the food they gathered.

Still, it was hard. For one, food wasn’t exactly plentiful, and she occasionally bit into potentially spoiled apple or berry, which immediately spoiled her desire to eat for a while. It oddly made her miss her cakes, too, musing to herself that she will treat herself to an assortment of baked treats whenever she is in the comfort of her home. Even dreamt about it more than once, too.

Secondly, water was not particularly easy to come by, so any juicy fruit that hadn’t gone bad was generally welcome, but it sure sucked when it tasted horrid. And, she couldn’t help but feel annoyed that despite their best efforts, they haven’t figured out just what is causing them to remain trapped in the village.

She was doubly worried about the nighttime, as it was clear that a rather terrible monstrous harbinger walked the earth at the time. As an unarmed civilian, all she could do was make sure to eat her dinner while there is still some light left in the day and hide with vigilance at night before drifting away in slumber.

In the end of the day, all she could do was be mindful and do her best to survive, not that she would give herself many stars for it... maybe just an E for effort. Never would she thought that she’d find herself in a place that resembles a horror game or horror movie set, but at the very least, she was relieved that she could stave hunger away at a minimum and that she isn’t stricken with some terrible long-lasting illness.
