Quote: Confronting the Creature (1) : Everything about this place tells you that you should not be out at night. The forest turns wicked, a horrible fog rolls in, and a monstrous creature stirs. But you, for whatever reason, decided to be out late. Perhaps you thought you could hunt the creature, or solve some mystery, or perhaps you were simply unlucky. Either way, the creature has found you. This must be a battle, and you must quote the shop mule, Beckoning Chaos, if you wish to pursue this plot. You will need to send a PM to this mule to declare if you intend to escape or be captured, and any special requests or information you need to share! A moderator or GM will be assigned to RP the creature in this roleplay. You may manage to escape into a building if you are close enough into town, however if you manage to do this you will spend the rest of the evening with the creature tormenting you, banging on the house and trying to break in; you will suffer horrible hallucinations and be plagued with paranoia and fear until morning. If you do not manage to seek shelter, or if you would like the creature to break into your shelter, the creature will defeat you in battle and you will pass out. You cannot defeat the monster, but you may learn something about it in battle. If you lose, you will be taken to a cellar with other prisoners and held outside of the city. Please see the below prompt for more information! Cybele had been doing her best to bide her time. The days had passed slowly, and after she had come to terms with the fact that there were few survival skill instincts from her past to help her, she'd set about learning them for the present. She'd learned to find food and build fires, and she'd realized that she was decent at patching old walls. She'd been searching the forest for clues, too, and within the first few days she'd found some strange talismans and a stranger metal disk. That was all, though. There had been nothing further. There was no way home, and every night when she heard the footsteps of the beast prowling though the town, she had her guesses as to why. In any case, the walls of her house were thin, and the disappearances getting more common. It was true that she would have liked to have been better prepared to fight this thing. The visions from the mist still haunted her, but she also wanted to face it on her own terms. She was the Senshi of the Hunt, after all. That was why, late at night, she slipped from her bed and quietly made her way past her housemates. She checked and double checked that her door was closed firmly behind her, and then she made her way out into the woods.

Wandering into the forest at night was simply asking for trouble, all things considered. In the early hours of darkness, the fog seemed to cling close to the ground, thin and almost tentative. It was only when it seemed like there were miles of whiteness to spread that it grew bold, brave. It crept closer, sometimes so slow that it was impossible to tell--and then sometimes, so quickly, that it seemed like the entire layout had changed in only the blink of an eye. Cybele was not safe in the forest. Not while she, herself, was being hunted. The fog billowed closer, circling her--too fast to escape. It coiled around her legs--and then, strangely, seemed so dense that it felt like handed gripping her ankles, trying to hold her in place--to claw her into the wall of white fog that was quickly encroaching.

Perhaps Cybele should have been afraid. The beast was powerful. She knew that. One breath of the fog earlier had sent her into visions, and now it was everywhere. She had seen claws then, and antlers that were sharper than hers, and the list of people who had disappeared since was not much comfort. But she was a tool of the Negaverse, barely a person, and the thought of ending up as some creature's prey did not bother her so much. The chance of victory and getting her allies home was worth that risk. The mist came, wrapping around her ankles and feeling almost solid, and she frowned for a moment before trying to pull away with all of her Eternal Senshi's strength. It was a good sign, though. The monster must be nearby. "Where are you?" she called softly into the fog.

A shadow that had seemed to be a tree before moved. It was subtle, at first, with antlers so wide they mimicked the branches of the other trees. There were no words to exchange, but the creature seemed to pay her more attention now that she chose to speak to it. It did not mean it had any intention of sparing her, or treating her any differently than other intruders, though. It disappeared into one shadow and emerged from another, closer. It was circling her. Behind her. To her left. In the blink of an eye, it stood before her, a mammoth in her presence. It looked down at her with cold, fierce eyes, as it balled its hands into half-fists at its side.

Cybele shifted at the hint of motion, her gaze settling on the silhouette of antlers that was peeking out from behind the treeline. The second time it moved, she was sure that she had found her quarry, and she whirled to face it, a smile curling across her face. This was one of the instincts from before that had stayed with her. Act like prey and certain things would come to you. "There you are," she said. This was the first time she had gotten a proper look at the creature, and she took its size and the sharpness of its claws. The mist seemed to swirl around it as well, and although she couldn't be sure that the two were connected, she had her guesses. In any case, it must be fueled by some strange magic she didn't understand. It would be best to keep her distance for now, then. "Hunter's Strike," she called out, louder. She let her voice ring through the forest, and a phantom bow formed in her hands. She knew that the creature was quick, and she didn't waste any time firing at it. Quote: Eternal Sailor Attack: Hunter's Strike An ethereal bow forms in Cybele's hands. Five arrows form this time, and now she can use them to hit enemies. She can aim at a single enemy with a range of 15 feet. They will have no effect on people within five feet of her, however. The arrows will spread out over a small area of about two feet in diameter. It's mostly a single target attack, but could possibly hit two people with a little timing. It's somewhat hard to aim a bow with five arrows on the string, though. If they hit, they will do about as much damage as a dart, including scratches, pricks, and slightly more serious stabs. It could be fairly serious depending on where they hit, though. The aim on this attack is not great, at best one or two will hit the main part of the body. The rest will hit limbs, be scratches or miss completely. It's possible to outrun. The arrows dissolve as soon as they hit anything, so the attack can also be blocked. She can use this attack twice per battle, but it drains her. If she uses it once, she will feel as if she's sprinted a short way. She'll be tired, noticeably a little bit slower but not heavily impacted. If she uses it twice she will be tired, able to fight but just barely. She'll be less responsive, just basically really tired.

As soon as the first arrow hit the creature, it let out a howl of pain and glowered at her as it recoiled. As soon as she struck it, it seemed as though some switch had been flipped and the creature twisted violently, trying to shake off whatever pain--and then it charged at her. It was fast, and it ran with no regard for the surroundings. It didn't seem to need to pay attention; anything it clipped snapped away from it, torn off from the sheer ferocity of its force and speed as it barreled towards her. Its antlers were huge, like a wall of bone more so than spikes to impale, and it didn't seem like it wanted to carve into her; when it got close to her, it twisted its neck as if to hit her with the blunt backside of its antlers and send her flying into a nearby tree.

The fog had been eerie and inconvenient, but it took getting thrown into a tree for Cybele to realize that she was probably in over her head. There was no nimbly dodging this beast. She tried, but that did little good when the thing was wicked fast and had antlers that were nearly as wide as she was tall. She was sent flying and impacted something very hard with a dull thud. The air was driven from her lungs in an instant. She sat there gasping. It took a moment for the rest of the pain to kick in. Her lower back seemed to have taken the worst of it. She told herself it wasn't to bad as she sat still, but it screamed at her as she tried to claw her way to her feet, to the point where tears started to p***k at her eyes and her vision went dangerously fuzzy. She settled for simply leaning forwards and supporting herself with her hands so she could try to roll out of the way of any further attacks, and even those few inches of movement had her biting the insides of her cheeks for a hint of distraction.

A fog, thicker than before, rolled in as the beast approached. It was breathing heavily, hands clenching and unclenching into what looked liked fists, balled at its side. It was angry and kept twitching, but its eyes never strayed from the senshi. Each step it took seemed to make the ground tremble, and when it approached her it looked down at her with something that might have been disdain. A low growl reverberated in its throat, and the fog rolled in thicker. It did not attack her while she was down, though it seemed itching to give chase. The strange fog blanketed her and the sensation was like a cold blanket being draped across her. It was difficult to breath and felt a bit smothering--but sleep, thick and quick, was pushed on her as soon as it entered her lungs. The creature watched, as if judging her. As if challenging her.

Cybele bit down harder on her cheeks until she tasted the coppery hint of blood, even as she shoved her heels deeper into the earth for better traction. She was clearly in over her head, but she was not ready to give up and die so quickly. However, motivation did little in the face of magic, and the fog was closing in. She shifted her weight to one foot and then the other and pulled herself up until she was standing tall again. The smile from earlier had turned into a wicked, bloody snarl now. She was expecting another attack. She was braced for that, ready to dodge, this time. The fog, on the other hand, was unavoidable. It was heavy on her skin and heavier in her lungs. Her fists, which she'd been curling at her sides, relaxed, as did her jaw. Her eyelids fluttered. Then, she collapsed to the ground for the second time as the world went dark under the creature's magic.

The creature watched, and though there was no way to read its expression, there was something satisfied in how it stood over her, tall and proud. Cybele had fought. She had managed to damage it, even if it was only enough to slightly alarm the creature and not deter it from its attack. It waited until she was down, until she wasn't moving, until the fog threatened to cover her up and swallow her whole. And then, it moved, and grabbed the back of her outfit to lift her carefully. It was just enough to keep her from dragging on the ground as it carried her. She had lost; there was no need to fight anymore. Cybele in tow, the creature disappeared in the mist with its prize. stari_maga CYBELE HAS BEEN CAPTURED BY THE MONSTER
